... Kenji would awake in a strange room- four gray stone walls surrounded him, and a stone floor, with a clear glass ceiling showing various stars and galaxies above. It would be almost beautiful, if not for the circumstances. The room itself was mostly featureless, just the four walls with no decor... And seemingly no exit?? Kenji sat along the wall of the room, a migraine fading from his head as he woke up. The tingling was gone, and he had full control over his body. Both of his hands were tightly chained to the stone wall behind him. There was a man in the room. With black hair and green highlights- shaved on one side with an intricate pattern. Their eyes were dark voids, besides one pinprick of white, glowing light. He wore a flowing open robe, green pants, and green dress shoes. His body was riddled with red scars-.. Burns, maybe? His right arm was bandaged up and shaking terribly, along with his left shoulder. His entire gray outfit was stained with blood. As Kenji stirred, he looked over with a blank expression. He held his shaking right hand out toward Kenji's head as he walked toward him. "Hoyseksagu." He said. His voice sounded like the final voice that was chanting in his head before he vanished. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

The first thing that Kenji realizes is that his head hurts like a motherfucker. The second thing he realizes is that the starry ceiling above is definitely not his kitchen ceiling. And that’s worrying enough, sure, as he grunts and tries to sit up fully with a grimace—but it’s reduced to a fraction of a thought when the cold metal chains locked around his wrists rattle with his movement. In an instant, the disorientation and confusion turns to sharp terror and panic. Kenji tries to scramble backwards and fails, back hitting the stone wall behind him, and eyes now blown wide open in fear dart wildly around the room. He’s a tangled mess of sharp limbs and slowly emerging, curling smoke as he seemingly tries to make himself shrink, but each time his wrists dig into the metal from his thrashing it sends a new jolt of blinding fear through him. When he finally processes the person in front of him, it…definitely does the opposite of helping. The tendrils of smoke writhe in front of him almost protectively—lashing out in time with the panicked, sharp wheezing escaping him—and there’s no attempt at replying to what the person says, much less an indication of hearing him. He doesn’t seem like he’s fully present at the moment, and the original voice in his head certainly isn’t planning on helping anytime soon. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Rakin was approaching Kenji when he tripped over one of the tendrils of smoke. He fell straight on to his face. 30yearoldman

Kenji cringes into himself even more at that, seemingly in an attempt to conceal or protect his face and chest. The tendrils jerk back towards him as if yanked by an invisible hand before any of the decay can spread to Rakin. “M’Sorry,” he chokes out, barely audibly, “I’m sorry, please, I— I—“, before cutting himself off immediately as his face pales in horror. Whatever he’s reliving, it isn’t pleasant. Sorry Rakin last time something like this happened to him he was 16 and dying. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Rakin was quick to get himself back up to his feet, this time more careful to not trip over anything as he approached Kenji. He batted away any stray smoke that may have been blocking his bandaged hand from gripping on to Kenji's head. A strong bolt of electricity bounced inside of Kenji's head and lingered around his brain for a time. "Can you understand me now?" Rakin asked, huffing slightly. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji’s entire body locks up as soon as Rakin grabs his head. The electricity pulse sends a jolt through him, spine tingling, and he flinches back as if expecting worse before he finally processes Rakin’s question with a frantic nod. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Good." Rakin took in a deep breath and stepped back from Kenji. "I have brought you here to compete in a tournament. I am aware this should be familiar too you.. But can you communicate to me which tournament you are from? My powers are not very good at precision." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Some of the fog clears from Kenji’s eyes once Rakin steps back, but it’s definitely not enough to fully bring him into the present. “Wh.. What?” A tournament—no, not just that—another tournament. “You— How— What??” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Kenji’s head is spinning. At least the utter confusion is now doing wonders at starting to dispel the sheer terror still gripping him. “I— I fought in a— in a…. That was years ago, it— Who are you?” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yes yes, it was years ago, I'm aware. Who was there with you." Rakin continued to ignore his questions. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji tenses as the line of questioning continues, quickly connecting that it’s probably in his best interest to answer if he ever wants to stop seeing the forest flash in his mind every time his wrists press against the metal. His mouth opens as if to reply, but he seems at a loss of words for a good few seconds as he tries to think. His first thought is Jax, of course, but he’s not going to say that—he won’t drag Jax into this, especially not with how little he understands so far. There’s other people he could mention, other people he’s stayed in touch with, but the first one he can think of without strings attached is— “Bug. I—I fought— S-Someone called Bug.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Bug." Rakin repeated. ".. So you're the one with Jax. Interesting... I was kind of hoping I could have pulled in a different you since there's many people here from that tournament.. But you're fine as well. Mix it up a bit. You will probably get some questions from some people who believe they know you." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji tries not to react, but, well. His heart skips a beat in fear at hearing Rakin say Jax’s name, and it almost definitely shows. “A-A different me?!” There’s a dull throb in the back of his mind that signals Amara starting to pay attention—it takes him a second or two to be able to think around that. “That makes no— I don’t— What’s going on.” His voice cracks, ever so slightly. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'm sure you'll figure everything out in time." Rakin chuckled. "But for now, how about you focus on the event at hand? This tournament is much different from the last one you participated in, I can assure you. Much more violent, and much less opporunities for screwing your dear host over.. More violent. Kenji, if possible, pales even more at that. “N-No, no— No! I’m not—“ The panicky wheezing from before begins to creep back into his lungs as he staggers to his feet on shaky legs. “I’m n-not hurting anyone like— like this—!” He’s somehow remarkably quick to both accept the situation and deny it in the same breath. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'm afraid you'll have no choice.. You either win your fight, and sentence your opponent to be cast off in to empty space, or you lose and sentence yourself to that same fate. It is your choice." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

“SPACE!?!?” Even Amara seems completely caught off guard by that. Kenji’s head is starting to hurt again. He takes a step back, hitting the wall behind him, as if that could possibly make any difference. “What the fuck do you— Space…” He looks kind of nauseous the longer he thinks about it. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well, just look up above you, Kenji.. The vast expanse you can see up there is all around us, to the sides, beneath us.. But you are safe as long as you can win. I won't toss you out for no reason." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji very pointedly does not look up. His brain might explode if he does. “…Why sh-should I believe— any of this, I—“ He moves like he’s about to start pacing almost instinctively, but the chains jerk against his wrists as if to say ‘this is why’, and he flinches sharply. “It’s—“ His voice catches in his throat, taking on an edge of desperation. “I—I can’t— I can’t do this again, please.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"You should believe it because if you don't, you'll be cast out much sooner." Rakin said. "And I am sorry, my powers can only transfer people to me, not the other way around." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji’s only response to that is a shake of his head, slumping back to lean against the wall behind him. He’s entirely at a loss for words—clutching the amethyst crystal hanging from his neck in his hand like a lifeline. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Rakin stood there for a time, observing him. "What does that necklace do for you." He asked. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji’s shoulders tense, almost defensively. “…It— It doesn’t do anything,” he says eventually, a faint emotional shake to his voice as he adds, quieter, “Jax g-gave it to me.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Rakin only chuckled at seeing Kenji be so protective of the item. He shot his hand forward and gripped Kenji's wrist- hard enough to force his hand open and to drop the gem. With his other hand he grabbed it, yanking it off of him hard enough to snap the leather cord. Rakin was quick to step back to admire the gem up close. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji doesn’t even have time to stop him, jerking forward slightly with the force Rakin uses to snap the cord straight off his neck. Barely a second passes before he lunges forward in a pretty pitiful attempt to grab it back—Rakin’s already out of reach, and the chains yank him back before he can really get anywhere. “Give—“ His voice cracks, faintly. “Give it back.” The smoke around his upper body begins to travel up the chains. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"How about you genuinely try to stop me if you want it back so badly." Rakin hummed, smiling and tying the cord around his own belt. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Kenji clenches his jaw as he glares at Rakin. “Let me go and I will.” Bold claim for a dude who’s been cowering in fear basically this whole time. He’s gonna try and decay the chains to snap them but im not sure what to roll for that tbh. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Watching Kenji try and fail to break through the chains multiple times was pretty sad. Rakin stepped up to him and placed his bandaged hand on his head. "Maybe you'll succeed next time." Rakin said before sending another shock through his system, this time knocking him unconscious. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Yeah, it’s sad alright. Kenji’s eyes widen, but there’s nothing he can do before the electricity courses through him and he crumples unceremoniously to the ground. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽
