Rocks would hurt. Maki replied wisely. It takes studying. Find what's right for you, though I understand not everyone is like me. They seemed a bit prideful at the last bit. Then Maki let out a tiny huff, almost disappointed. If you see it that way then yes, I suppose.... They trailed off before frowning. ...People don't get me. "Ehh, I've had my fair share of concussions. Rocks can only hurt me so much now," Moses joked with another laugh. He gave Maki a warm smile and offered them a coconut. "Well, this here is for you, Professor smarty-pants. Can you figure out how to open it?" He teased. Though, the older man gave Maki a more sympathetic gaze after reading their last note. "I get it, kid. It's hard to make friends who you can jive with easily. It took me a while to find people I could consider friends too. As long as you try and the other person is willing to listen, making friends comes naturally. Besides, it's better to have a few good friends, than a lot of superficial ones." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki huffed and summoned a small hammer with a wave of their wrist summoned a small table, followed by a hammer and screwdriver. They propped the coconut up and placed the screwdriver onto the coconut before....BAAM! They hit the screwdriver with the hammer. Jazz hands. They handed the coconut back to Moses with a cheeky grin.

Most people think I am weird and talk like an adult. I guess that is what happens when you have no kid friends. I don't think other people here are like me unless you could find someone.

Moses blinked as Maki opened up the coconut like a science project. He laughed and took the fruit back from them. Using a small crystal to cut a piece of the edible portion of the fruit, Moses handed it to Maki. "Here, coconut. This is the part you eat. It's pretty refreshing," Moses smiled. Eating a piece for himself as he read Maki's note, he smiled more. "There are a couple more kids running around from what I saw earlier. I can't say you'll get along, but they're interesting in their own right," he mused. "Well, if you can consider this old geezer a friend, your friend count has gone up to one, so that's a win in my book." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki looked down at the coconut and nodded along. So I just...bite it? They asked. I have never really had a full on...coconut before. They asked. ....Then I will try and make..more friends. So my count can go up to...four. They smiled a bit. ...Sharing fruit is a good way to make friends. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Well, I cut out a small portion, but yes. The white part is the edible part of a coconut, kid. Don't try to bite the outside shell," Moses chuckled. He tossed his own piece of coconut into his mouth, smiling as he tasted the sweet, juicy fruit. "It's pretty good. I'm sure you'll be the most popular kid on the block if you share these with people," he joked lightly. "Four is a good number. Maki stared at the fruit before they took a piece of coconut and inspected it before they lifted their mask up slightly to take a bite. Maybe. Maki wrote down. Why don't you have friends? You're nice. You seem like a guy who'd have a lot of friends. Maki tilted their head. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses read the note, then laughed. "Do I? Well, thanks. I'm glad someone thinks I'm popular," he mused with a teasing smile. "Even grown ups have a hard time making friends, kid. I got my job, which takes up most of my time, then I have my son who I like to spend most of whatever time I have left the rest of the day. It leaves very little room for relationships outside of either," Moses explained. "I guess my closest friends would be my dogs. Cute little things. Again, Moses chuckled as he read Maki's note. The kid sure had a sense of humor. "I don't have a husband or wife anymore. The first one passed a while ago, but my ex and I are on pretty good terms still. I consider her one of my only human friends," Moses smiled. And happily, he pulled his wallet from his pocket and opened it, showing Maki the photos inside. One section was dedicated to photos of his son, but as he pulled some photos from the back, a few polaroid pictures of golden retrievers started popping up. The first was of two golden puppies, the one on the left with a blue bandana, then the one on the right with a red one. The photos slowly progressed to show the dogs all grown up, wearing collars of similar color to their bandanas. "The one in the blue is Tsuki. The one in the red is Hoshi. They're both nine years old now. I've raised them since they were pups." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

You don't seem like the type to have an ex. Maki shrugged. Though I am sorry for your loss. They bowed their head before they took a small step closer to look at the photos of the dogs. They smiled more now, their eyes sparkling at the sight of the two dogs. Sooo cute... They squealed excitedly waving their arms up and down. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses let out a small hum and shrugged. "I appreciate it, kid. Though, I'm curious to know what your idea of a person who has exes is like," he chuckled lightly. He smiled even more as he saw Maki wave their arms. "Aren't they? Oh, they would love meeting you, kiddo. Someone who is mean. Maki wrote. Someone who is bad to their partner, right? They tilted their head. Only bad people have an ex...though I guess now...thinking about it... Maki trailed off, shaking their head.

I love dogs...I always wanted one. They porivde a lot of comfort....soft. Big. Kinda like you. In a good way. You're kinda like a dog.

He read Maki's note with a sympathetic smile. "Relationships are more complicated than being 'good' or 'bad' to a partner. There are a lot of good people who stay with someone who's detrimental to them, while sometimes, people just grow apart. There are a plethora of reasons for people to break up. For me, my ex realized she wasn't in love with me, but rather, married me out of obligation when she found out she was pregnant with our son. It hurt, yes, but she's not a bad person," Moses explained. "And thanks, I suppose. I like dogs too, so being compared to one isn't so bad," he chuckled. "Maybe when you go back home, you can get a dog for yourself too. They're good friends." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki listened to Moses and they seemed to ponder what the man said before they looked out towards the distance. They narrowed their eyes in thought before they looked upwards at Moses. I see. They wrote down.

....I was never really allowed pets. I was told they'd be a distraction from my work. Maybe since I have my own place I can get one. Or a cat. I like cats too.

Moses smiled and tucked away his wallet back into his pocket. "Well, as long as you think you're able to take proper care of them, pets are a great way to have company in your life. I've always been more of a dog person, but cats are nice too," he commented. "I'm surprised to hear you live on your own though. Not even a roommate or anything, kid?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

...My illusions frighten people off. How could I tell if you're real you know? Or are you merely one of my illusions I manifested into existence to comfort me.

Reading Maki's notes, Moses' gaze seemed to soften. He turned to Maki and raised his hand again, but didn't touch them just yet. "Can I pat your head, kid?" He asked first, knowing they flinched the last he did so without warning. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stared up at Moses briefly before they nodded their head, giving him their approval. Headpats were okay...with permission. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

With the approval, Moses gently patted Maki's head. It was warm and comforting, like he had done this plenty of times before. "I knew someone who was just like you, kid. He was born with an extraordinary power, but it was also something that made the people around him afraid of him. Getting to know him, I understood underneath it all, he was just a scared little kid. A kid who wanted to have a family and people who loved him." Moses looked at Maki with a sympathetic, yet understanding gaze. "He was scared of letting people in. Scared of hurting them too, but I knew he was a good kid. And I know you are too, Maki. I'm as real as you can get, and you don't frighten me. Maki watched Moses carefully and bowed their head slightly when Moses gave them a headpat. Squish. They stared down at the ground before they looked upward at Moses, studying him before they sighed. ....Who was..this kid..? They asked curiously.

...People fear me due to my power. I cannot blame them, if I am being honest. Ican bring their fears to life with a simple flick of my wrist but otherwise...

He ruffled their hair a bit before retracting his hand. "His name was Invo. I met him during my time in the army," Moses replied. "He's the one I mentioned before to you about why I learned IPSL." Moses stopped by an apple tree, looking up at the red fruit before looking at Maki's note again. "I get it, kid. I do... but maybe we can ease that feeling for each other, even if for a little bit with our time together here," Moses said with a warm smile. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Invo. Maki wrote down before they thought for a second. Are they...like me? I...struggle to speak to most people. I can but. Its very hard for me. They wrote. I prefer to write and use sign. Talking is just...difficult. :( Maki followed behind Moses and looked at the fruit, reaching out for it. Grabby hands. Then they turned to their book. Would your kid like that? Moses grabbed the ripest looking apple for Maki, handing it to them with a faint smile. "He is. It's a little bit of a coincidence how similar you two are. I haven't seen him in years.. He'd be about your age now. Maybe a little older, but he's a good kid. He didn't talk to most people, and only signed to a select few. I didn't really agree with him being there with the rest of the camp, but I couldn't say much back then due to my position," Moses explained. "And my son? Well, he's always told me he wanted siblings. His mom doesn't want any more kids, so he's always begging me to get him another, so I don't think it would be much of a problem," Moses chuckled lightly. "I think you'd like him too. I agree with you by proxy. Someone who is around my age should have not been in the army when younger. If he want now that is different.

Maki reached for the apple and took it, staring at it as they began to smile a bit. ....A brother? You would be willing to take me in even though we have only spoken about twice? They asked. Moses sighed and nodded in agreement with Maki. "It's.. a complicated situation. I told you Invo was born with a powerful ability. He had inherited it from his father, who in turn, was a very powerful leader connected to the team I was on. He was born into war, and didn't have much of a choice. When I was kicked out, he was only about ten years old.. I don't know what he's up to now, but I hope he's doing better. Kid had it tough." Though, he smiled more at Maki's next note. "Well, if you don't mind having the help of a weird old man, you always have a spot with me, kid. I'm sure Viktor would enjoy the company as much as you would. And plus, you ate my cooking. I'll always have a hot meal like that waiting for you at home—if you choose to call it that, of course." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Kicked out? Maki tilted their head. Did you do something? Oh. Forgive me. That was rather...blunt. I mean. I am kinda curious now. Maki laughed a tiny bit. I do understand that now though...complications and everything. I do hope whatever he ended up doing, he is alright now ...You are a good chef...I will think on it. Will you be mad if I deny? For a few seconds, Moses debated whether or not he should tell Maki in detail about his time in the army. He doubted Maki would exactly understand all of the intricate details, so he decided to just be blunt as well. "No, it's fine, kid. You only get kicked out if you do something, and something I did do," Moses faintly chuckled, but there wasn't much humor in his voice. "I attacked my commanding officer after a mission. Beat him so bad that my teammates could barely pull me off of him. It was concluded that I wasn't stable enough to be on the mission anymore and they dishonorably discharged me afterwards," he sighed. Moses' expression shifted back to being a little more positive and he shook his head at Maki's question. "Of course not, kid. I don't think many people just go jumping at such an offer, but I'll be around as long as you want. I was in similar shoes once--little to no family, broke. There was a few seconds of silence before Maki clapped their hands together. The masks facial expression changed to..a smile...? Some sparkles surrounded their face as they let out a tiny laugh. woaaa

Hearing Maki laugh was a little surprising, and despite himself, Moses couldn't help but smile in return. "Looking back, I should of held back more... So I'm not saying what I did was right, but all of my teammates understood why I did what I did," he shrugged, sighing once more. "I try not to be like that anymore. "You know, for kid who seems to be hard to earn the trust of, you seem quite earnest with believing I was justified and not just some crazy guy," Moses lightly teased. "I appreciate it though, kid." Letting out a small laugh, Mosses playfully rolled his eyes and tossed another apple at Maki. "My son actually prefers fruit over baked goods. So, we fight over the last mango, yes. Truthfully, you have not earned my trust- fully. I am still weary. But you have proven yourself, at least to me that you will not harm me.

But I do agree with your son. Maki hummed. I always prefer some sweet fruit. Or sour. I like blueberries and raspberries. Moses chuckled, both at Maki's note and how the apple bopped them by accident. "Oops, sorry kiddo. Guess we'll have to work on your catching skills," Moses smiled as he picked the apple back up. "Well, that's fine with me, Maki. As long as you know you can come to me for anything, that's enough," he hummed.
