Just kidding he's wearing his shirt. But he doeas have his jacket open. The fox was making his way back to the bonfire with a huge pile of wood in his arms. He set the logs down nearby, but not so close that sparks from the fire would catch on them. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Still wanting to enjoy the warmth of the fire, Jymaiyri simply made her way to the other side of the bonfire. She noticed Riki coming back, looked over him with some scrutiny, and gave him a friendly wave. "Hello there." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki glanced over his shoulder, noticed Jymaiyri and flashed a friendly smile, before focusing back on the wood stack, not to spill it all over. "Good morning! Please excuse me for a moment, I will be at your service in just a minute", the fox replied, setting the pile of logs on the snow, and arranging them into a neat stack. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh, you don't have to be in my service, or anything." Jymaiyri laughed. "I was just saying hi." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Hmm, force of habit. I am used to speaking this way due to my job", Riki chuckled. He finished setting the wood down, and stood up, dusting his paws and clothes off of splinters and forest litter. He turned around to face Jymaiyri and smiled again, offering his hand for a shake. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm captain Riki Icefang." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Ah, it's alright." Jymaiyri shrugged. When Riki faced her, she was holding Minerva in her sling and in her arms. The little baby was peeking her little face out, gazing curiously at Riki. "Nice to meet you, Captain. I'm Dr. Jymaiyri Ke Naido." She removed one hand from Minerva to shake Riki's, "And this is little Minerva." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Now that Riki was properly facing the woman, he could see the baby as well. His warm paw in Jymaiyri's hand paused mid-shake, and his smile dropped, his eyes widening at the sight of the little one. Not just surprised, but shocked. He had already heard that there was a baby in the tournament, but it was a whole different thing to see it with his own eyes. His mouth dropped slightly, and he seemed unable to move or speak, eyes fixed on the tiny human. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

Jymaiyri's expression shifted as Riki's did- though not to surprise. She sighed. "Yes, I have a baby. Yes, she's mine. No, I didn't choose to bring her here with me, I didn't choose to be here at all." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's ears shifted back, and his tails shook slightly, slowly lowering. He closed his mouth, blinked, and cleared his throat a bit, unable to tear his eyes off of Minerva. "Y-yes, I kno-", his voice cracked, his throat tightening. He coughed lightly and took a step back. His eyes filled with emotion as he still stared at the infant, and he blinked a few times. "Excuse me..." he whispered, and finally turned his gaze and head away. His ears lowered, and he covered his mouth with his hand and folded his other arm around his torso. He remained still and silent, once in a while blinking rapidly, but his tails were shaking subtly, and the movement was visible on Riki's ears as well.@innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Minerva stared back at Riki with wide, curious eyes. Another big doggy! "Hey, are you alright?" Jymaiyri asked as Riki turned away. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki coughed again softly to open his throat, but it didn't seem to do much. He closed his eyes for a moment and nodded a few times, though the way his breathing shook when he drew a breath, it was clear he was holding back tears. "Yes, I apologize..." he said softly, his voice hitching a little. He opened his eyes once more, and cast a pained, pitying look at Minerva. The light in his eyes had dimmed noticeably. He cleared his throat lightly. "You see, I just... I have little ones... at home..." Riki tried to explain with a little stronger voice, but it was still wavering. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh. I understand." Jymaiyri nodded solemnly. Minerva seemed to recognize Riki's worried expression, and mirrored it with an upset one of her own. Clearly, things were not good anymore. She wasn't crying- at least not yet. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki nodded, still looking at Minerva, though what he was really seeing was his puppy Hoshi. When the baby's little face frowned, mirroring Riki's expression, the fox broke into a sad smile, his heart aching from the cuteness and worry. He let out a small, breathless laugh and gazed at the child gently, tilting his head lightly. "Hello, sweetheart..." he said quietly, hoping to cheer up the little one. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Minerva looked up at Riki, his smile seeming to distract her for at least a little. "Oh, Minnie..." Jymaiyri quickly diverted her attention to her daughter, singing a little improvised song to distract her. "Don't be sad, don't be sad..." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki chuckles quietly and brings one of his tails closer, wiggling it around in Minerva's field of view, trying to entertain and cheer up the kid. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

With the song and the tail movements, Minerva seemed pretty distracted from her woes now. She put a mittened hand close to her mouth. "Oh- don't eat your glove again, you silly." Jymaiyri laughed. To Riki, she said. "Thanks. I thought she'd start crying there." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's smile grew warmer, although his brows were still knitted together in a painful, anxious way. He laughed quietly at the silly, adorable sight. "Awh, bless her little heart", Riki replied Jymaiyri, and dried his own tears from the corners of his heart, and sighed lightly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri smiled and laughed as she played with her baby. Though the tension she carried was still clear in her stiff posture, she did seem to be relaxing a bit. "You said you have kids of your own?" She asked Riki. "How old are they?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, my little Hoshi... must be around the same age as Minerva. They about the same size. My middle child Song is turning seven soon, and my oldest child Ria is in her early twenties already", Riki chuckled warmly, but his eyes remained distant and worried. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Aw, that's sweet! Maybe once we get out of here, we can arrange a playdate." Jymaiyri hummed. It was when they got out. Not if. When. She would not surrender herself to that fate. "Minnie's just about six months old now. She's our first." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki hummed, finally focusing on Jymaiyri. "Perhaps, although I doubt we come from the same world. I assume you are a human, yes? We do not have humans where I come from, as far as I know." Then, Riki looked at the baby again. "Six months already? Aw, heh, she must be quite the handful." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"True... it was wishful thinking, more than anything. I'm human, yeah. I'm from the South Loucari. I've already talked to someone from another dimension, so I guess it makes sense you'd be from another one, too." She shrugged. "Yep. Six months. It seems like just yesterday she was born... but she's only going to get more of a handful from here. She's not even crawling yet." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Is that so? Doctor Lykos, perhaps?" Riki guessed. "Oh... oh? She doesn't crawl yet?" Riki tilted his head and looked at Minnie. "Hmm. Well, in due time. Hoshi is walking around already, though pretty clumsily. He's more excited to move than he has the skills for just yet", he chuckled. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"No, actually. A young man named Kian." Jymaiyri confessed. "He said he knew of a different version of my husband. Though I have also met Dr. Lykos." She smiled as Riki described his son. "Aw, I can only imagine how cute that is. Little Minnie here's been trying to crawl, but all she's really accomplished is rocking back in forth." She laughed. "I think that's true of all kids, they're so ready to move even before they really know how." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, young Kian? I would have guessed he was from the same world as you, since you are both humans. But I see, that is interesting", Riki nodded. "Awwh", Riki laughed warmly, imagining Minnie revving like about to crawl away. "Indeed. We were worried Hoshi might not see well, but it turns out he's just not good at avoiding objects, so he runs into them. "From what I can tell, he and I are from very different realities." Jymaiyri said, but didn't elaborate on the sentiment. "Awww..." Jymaiyri laughed as she imagined little Hoshi running into things. "I hope he gets better at it, too." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's brow raised at Jymaiyri's comment, but he didn't pry. "Yeah. He's little. He has time to learn", Riki replied with that pained, longing smile. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"He's got plenty of time." Jymaiyri nodded in agreement. "I hope you can get back to him soon. I hope we're all out of this soon." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Yes..." Riki couldn't help but sigh. He was shifting between icy determination and lightless dispair, and right now he was feeling more hopeless than he wanted to show. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri nodded, not having much more to say. She wasn't going to admit defeat. She would get out of here. They all would. And if believing was the only thing she could do to ensure that, she was going to believe it til she was dead and cold. "So... you said there aren't humans around where you're from?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Yes. I heard about humans for the first time from Dr. Lykos." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Huh." Jymaiyri pondered. "That's pretty interesting. I guess I've never seen your kind around, though. Just humans, and the occasional corvi. If you don't mind me asking, what is your kind?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I see. It sure is interesting. I am a Ninetales. Where I come from, we have peoples of all kinds of species." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Interesting." Jymaiyri nodded. "So it's not just you ninetales where you're from? There's others, too?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, many, many others. It would take too long for me to try and list them all, and I would end up forgetting many anyway." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri's eyebrows lifted as she took that in with mild impression. "Huh. I can't even imagine what that's like- almost everyone I know is just regular old human." She laughed. "Though I suppose to you, the diversity's more normal." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Yeah, it is a bit of an... almost eerie thought to me that everyone would be the same species, and I come from a country where majority were Ninetales!" Riki chuckled lightly.

Jymaiyri laughed along with him. "Yeah... I'm pretty sure it's majority humans here, that and frog people." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I see, I haven't yet met many, but it would be two out of five who have been humans, yes. And the frog people seem to take the form of a human as well." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Everyone I've met's been human, save for you and Dr. Lykos and the frog people." Jymaiyri hummed. "They do. But they can turn into frogs- or, they're frogs that can turn into people. I think they're kind of like corvi in that way, but frogs instead of birds." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, bird people? Fascinating", Riki tilted his head slightly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Yeah, they're bird people. They're way more common up in the north, and even then they keep to themselves, but they're around. My husband's childhood best friend was corvi. Or, she is. She's still around, somewhere." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, I see", Riki smiles lightly and nods, a little amused and curious about the mention of Jymaiyri's husband and his best friend. He could smell some tea there. "We don't have bird people, funny enough. Or there are bird people, but they apparently live in another realm." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Really? That's interesting." Jymaiyri tilted her head to the side. "Are you all canines?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"No, there are many different people, but we tend to be animals that have paws. There are none that have hooves, for example. No fish either." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Huh..." Jymaiyri put a mittened hand to her chin as she contemplated fish people ~~that may or may not have a vengeance against her husband~~. "That's interesting." Minerva, evidently, also found it pretty interesting- or at least, she found Riki's voice and face interesting to watch while he talked. Riveting stuff for little baby. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Indeed, although there are exceptions. For example, we do have snake people, the Serpentine. Even though snakes typically don't have limbs, the Serpentine do." Riki noticed Minerva's stare, and smiled at her, his eyes twinkling. They had found their glow again, and the fox seemed less anxious now. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Snake people? That's interesting." Jymaiyri tilted her head to the side. "That's interesting. I think we have them where I'm from, too. Though, I've never met one." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"You do? So there are more people than only humans and a few birds, after all", Riki smiled curiously seemed kind of happy about this, somehow. "The Serpentine are very interesting... both because of their physiology, and their history. They used to have a huge, powerful nation, but they lost all their land to Ninjago in a big war. It is rather wild to think they live rather peacefully among other people in Ninjago these days. My old home country never hand much run-ins with the Serpentine." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Well, yeah, but there aren't any snake people where I live, specifically." Jymaiyri laughed. She listened intently as Riki went on. "Huh. I wonder how much of that's still true in my universe. I really don't know much about them, outside of that they supposedly exist." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I see! Hmm, yes, that is an interesting question. Maybe there is more overlap between the worlds than I originally thought? Then again, there might be very little." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Well, I know Ninjago exists in both our worlds." Jymaiyri hummed in thought. "Does the Loucari exist in your world?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Loucari, hmm..." Riki rolled the name on his tongue and in his mind, trying to remember if he had read or heard in before. "I'm afraid I can't remember a place with that name, but it doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist, just that my memory isn't perfect", he chuckled softly. "What is Loucari like?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"True..." Jymaiyri thought. "Well, the Loucari is an archipelago, somewhat north-east of Ninjago. It's cold and mountainous and rocky- that's where my husband is from. There's also the South Loucari, which is a separate nation. I'm from there- it's more lush and warm and nice." Jymaiyri explained. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Ah, that is interesting", Riki nodded, and put a hand on his chin. "In my world, directly north and north-west from Ninjago is my old homeland, Empire of the Nine sisters. It's on the same continent as Ninjago. In north-east from Ninjago, east from the Empire, is Metalonia, still part of the same continent. I wonder if Loucari might be located on the north-east side of Metalonia, if it exists at all where I'm from. Hmm. Either way, your husband's homeland sounds much like mine", he smiled faintly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh, interesting... I don't think I've ever heard of your homeland. It might not exist in my universe." Jymaiyri pondered. "You think so? You might like it up there, then. I hated it. I hate the cold." Jymaiyri declared definitively. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki laughed light-heartedly, and his tails swished. "You sound like my spouse! Though I understand the cold is very hard to bear when you're not used to it, and when you lack the fur and magic to shield yourself. Pity, that you ended up in such chilly conditions here, then." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri laughed. "I guess every couple needs someone who can't tolerate the cold. Yeonai teases me for it, but he's no better when it gets super hot in the summer." She sighed. "Yeah... I'm mostly just worried for Minerva, really. I've experienced winter before, but she hasn't." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Oh, I struggle with very warm weather as well", Riki nodded. He looked down at Minerva's little pudgy face. "Aw, yes, but there is the first winter for everybody. I suggest covering her nose lightly with some fabric when it starts getting windy again or the temperature drops, so it's easier for her to breathe. I would assume her airways are extra sensitive since she's still so little", Riki's voice dropped a little and softened further when he looked at the baby. He looked up at Jymaiyri again. "You can get some of my shed fur if you want to make her a warm nest or similar." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

"Oh, thank you, that's good advice. I'll probably take her back inside soon, anyways." Jymaiyri nodded. "Really? That's nice of you. I wouldn't know what to do with it, but I could think of something." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"That is a good idea", Riki nodded. "Yes, of course. Hm, well, you could insulate that carrier pouch of hers, or add to any clothing she might have. I'm afraid I cannot make clothes out of my fur either", he chuckled briefly with an apologetic smile. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"There's some buildings around here I was thinking of sheltering in. You're welcome to come with us." Jymaiyri offered. "Oh, that's a good idea. The clothes she has now are warm enough, but they could be warmer. We'll figure something out." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Very well, I will accept your kind invitation. I suppose I could take a small break after chopping this wood", Riki smiled, and glanced at the pile he brought. "Alright, I can spend the time I rest to groom myself. Judging by how itchy my tails are, I'm already shedding the old fur." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"No problem." Jymaiyri shrugged, and headed off towards #barracks-back @Twig | Kiran + Riki
