After a bit of walking, Agustín and Moses came across the new building. As they approached, the scent of food was able to be discerned, even over all the cold and wind. ".. This must be it. And it smells like it has food inside. Actual food." Agustín said, the smallest of smiles lingering at the corners of his mouth. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses looked over the building up and down, a little skeptical. "Hm.. It does smell like human food. Maybe gravy..? And potatoes?" He deduced after a quick few sniffs of the air. "Maybe Rakin heard us complaining about the food supply here earlier and felt bad for making us watch all of that shit just now.." He commented. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yeah, stuff like that. Seems pretty American. But I'll take anything over that fish at this point." He mumbled. "Rakin wouldn't give us poisoned food, right..? I think they're reveling in watching us kill each other, which.. Must be more exciting than watching us all die of poison or something..." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He shrugged. "I think at this point, I wouldn't put much of anything past Rakin and his boss," Moses replied. "But, I also don't think they would want to poison us either. At least, not in the typical way. Let's go inside and we can inspect whatever they have. I'm pretty good at knowing when food has been tampered with." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"If there's a microscope around here, I could tell you what diseases are on it. But thinking about space pathogens is a bit horrifying on top of everything else.." Agustín shivered. The two got to the building, and Agustín opened up the door for Moses. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses gave Agustin a small 'thanks' as he walked inside. Glancing around, it seemed to be a buffet of some sort inside. Moses did find the table of plates and chairs a bit eerie, but the sound of a couple of people talking did garner his attention for a moment. He didn't recognize either Dante or Tsubari, but they didn't look harmful, so he turned back to Agustin. "Well.. It's a buffet of food. "Hah, unless they're big parasites I don't think any magnifying glass you can make would make them visible." Agustín said and closed the door behind him. "I think I'll just take my chances." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Eh.. it was worth asking," Moses shrugged, a faint smile on his lips as he walked over to the food. He bent down to look at the food, noticing that it was quite a specific set. "Hm.. I would expect to eat something like this during Thanksgiving. It's oddly.. specific. I don't really see any signs of the food being touched or tampered though." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I've only been to a Thanksgiving celebration a few times.. And it looked a bit different to this." Agustín looked over the food, and his stomach made an awful noise. ".. I'm gonna go wash off my hands in the snow, then I'll grab a plate. I don't want to get myself sick from-.. Yeah, I'll just go wash my hands." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses nodded and put his hand on his hip. "Yeah, you go do that. My own Thanksgiving is a little different from this too, but it'll do. I'll wait here for ya," he hummed. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Agustín headed outside, and was still gone by the time the fight announcement rang. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses had sat down at on empty chair, keeping to himself until Agustin would come back. When the announcement for the fight happened, he did seem partially interested. However, the same reason he was interested was the same reason he wasn't going to go. He didn't want to see kids fighting each other in the same gruesome manner as the last fight. No, Moses didn't think he could stomach any more. He watched as Nathan get telephoned away, startled by the sound. He winced and rested his head in his hand, trying to calm himself down before he possibly spirls. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Agustín came back in a quite a while later, now looking significantly less bloody. His hair was frozen, and his external gills didn't really seem to like the sensation as they continually tried to move away from the icicles. "Sorry that took a while. I decided I needed to take a shower. I feel better now." Agustín said, closing the door behind him. "I- are you alright..?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Whatever refreshment Agustin had, Moses didn't notice right away. He continued to hold his face in his hand, taking in deep breaths and ignoring Agustin for a few moments. "..Just.. give me a moment," Moses breathed out through his teeth. His hands were shaky, and his shoulders raised up and down visibly as he took in breaths. Yeonaixho's fight had shaken Moses more than he would ever admit, and double that with the sudden sound of lightning... The urge of an attack arose again. He was trying his best to keep it together since his first one when Rakin had taken him, but it seemed to be coming down now. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Mm. Who's having a pity party now." Agustín mumbled, stepping over to the table. He hesitated to grab a plate, glancing back over at Moses. "Sorry that- was probably rude. Sorry." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Again, Moses didn't answer Agustin right away. He was focused on taking breaths and settling himself. It took a few minutes, but when Moses finally lifted his face from his hands, his expression was still a bit tense. "..Sorry. One of the fighters was here and was suddenly taken. It startled me," Moses quietly explained. "..Are you eating?" He asked, not really caring about Agustin's earlier comment. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Oh- Nathan? The hot chocolate guy.." Agustín frowned as he looked over to the empty mugs. "But yeah, I'm gonna eat all that I can in case this food situation is.. Temporary." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses nodded. "Yeah.. him. Does Rakin really need to use a large bolt of lightning to summon people? It's damn annoying," he sighed and sat back in his seat. "It's good to eat.. you haven't had a proper meal in a while. Hopefully it can help make you feel better." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"You scared of lightning?" Agustín asked as he picked up a plate. He began serving himself, absolutely filling the plate to the brim. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses shook his head. "Not specifically. I'm.. Still jumpy with loud noises. Don't do so well with sudden movement or fast change in an environment, either. Surprises, basically," he sighed. "My therapist says its PTSD from my time in the army, which makes sense. Still, it's a bitch to deal with, even after all these years." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Okay, well now Agustin really felt bad about his comment. Even if he didn't respect the military. "Oh, sorry.." Agustin sighed. "This whole event must be pretty bad for you. Are you managing okay?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He shrugged, letting out another sigh. "I would be lying if I said I was. When I was first taken, I had a pretty bad attack. Keeping myself occupied with helping others has kept my nerves steady, at least.. But it doesn't solve everything," Moses replied. "If I get taken soon, I hope an attack doesn't stop me from acting..." He mumbled more to himself than Agustin. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

".. Yeah." Agustin said and ate a few forkfulls of baked mac and cheese. Followed by a few more. And then more after that, until he had cleared his plate. "You should try some of this food. It's good. Kinda bland, but better than that awful fish. Anything is better than that." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

A small chuckle escaped Moses' lips as he saw Agustin eat. "You should try some of my baked mac and cheese some time. Bet it's a hundred times better seasoned than the one you're eating," he mused. "Fish can be tasty if you just cook it properly. I made some damn good soup on the other side with crab.. I wonder if anyone has eaten all of it yet." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I think I'll avoid eating any and all seafood if we get out of here.." Agustin sighed, putting his plate down on the table. "We have our own kitchen on this side, so if you wanted to combine any of this pre-made food I guess we could. But who knows, maybe if it leaves the bounds of this building it turns to mush or something.. Wouldn't be surprised at this point." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses smiled a bit at that. "You better hope it doesn't, or else it'll be mush in your stomach the moment you leave here," he lightly joked. "A kitchen is nice to have. I wonder why you guys got it if there's barely anything to cook on this side though.." Moses questioned. "Do you guys cook often here?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yeah, mostly just fish.. Every once in a while there's an animal or two that runs through, but none of us have managed to hunt successfully.." Agustin said. "If we weren't able to cook we would've starved, which Rakin wouldn't let happen since Zahara is here. I'm guessing if we started getting sick he was going to bring us more things, or at least bring Zahara something." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses raised a brow at that. "None of you are good at hunting?" He asked, intrigued that the amphibs on this side lasted so long without it. "Hmm.. I wonder why Rakin made the conditions here so bad for you guys in the first place. You would think if he wanted workers to help him, he would at least make sure you guys are treated well," he shrugged. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well, Zahara is too scared of hurting things bigger than a cricket, Dante is scrawny, and I have asthma and I'm also out of shape. None of us are very good candidates." Agustin said. "And I don't even know why we're here.. I'm the only one Rakin ever calls on, and it's just to heal him.." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses hummed as he listened to Agustin. "I see. Well, makes it even more confusing as to why Rakin put you guys over here," he commented with a shake of his head. "Either way, I guess we won't have to hunt anymore if we're gonna be given food here. That just leaves the other side, really.. I hope the kids over there are okay." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"This whole thing is weird." He rolled his eyes and grabbed his plate. "Do you want any food or..?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He peaked over to the buffet of food again, thinking whether or not he could stomach anything. "..Is there anything like mashed potatoes over there?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Hm. There's scalloped potatoes with cheese." Agustin said. "There's hot chocolate if you want something that's not.. Chunky or chewy?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He sighed, disappointed by his choices, but Moses supposed beggars couldn't be choosers. "..Guess I'll go with a cup of hot chocolate," he hummed. "Do you mind grabbing me a cup?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Sure," Agustin walked back over to the buffet and filled his plate again, this time filling it with more of a variety than his first go around. He grabbed a mug, trying to ignore the six empty ones that would presumably never get washed out, and filled it up. He walked back over to Moses, careful to not spill anything from either dish. "It doesn't seem too hot anymore, so you should be good to drink it now." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses waited patiently for Agustin, staring at a nearby window before turning back towards him when he heard Agustin come back over. "Thank you," Moses said as he picked up the mug of cocoa. The mug was nice and warm in his hand, but the mug was still a bit shaky in his hold. He made his first sip quick, before promptly setting the mug back down. "..How does the rest of the food taste?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Boring, but needed. I'm going to get some good street food when- if I can get back home." Agustin said. "And enjoy not being cold all the time." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He let out a small chuckle at that. "Yeah, I'm not very built for the cold either. Where are ya from, Agustin? I'm guessing not from the north," Moses asked. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Nope. Me and my dad live around Mexico City, he's a doctor and I study disease." Agustín said. "He.. Was going to retire soon. And go live on the coast and give me the house.." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Mexico City? Yeah, that's anywhere but the north," Moses smiled faintly. "Hm.. I see. So you're both in the medical field. I guess with your father's powers, it makes sense. What made you want to study diseases, Agustin?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well, all my siblings died of a skin disease before they could get out of the water. So I work with that disease." Agustín said. "Feels like.. The least I could do. Also not much talking to people, just me and my slides all day. And sometimes dead frogs." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Damn, all of his siblings died of the same thing? Moses didn't know a lot about amphibians, but he felt like that wasn't necessarily the most normal thing. "I see. Sorry to hear that, Agustin," he commented before offering a small smile. "Sounds like it's rather lonely. You prefer working alone?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"It's alright. But yes, me and people don't.. Usually get along." Agustín picked through the miscellaneous fruit he had on his plate. "I like being able to do my own thing." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses hummed, watching as Agustin picked at his food. "Is it cause you and others don't tend to have similar interests or something? You seem to get along just fine with people here." "Most people think I'm weird, but this place is full of weird people." Agustín sighed. "My sobrino here thinks I'm weird, I'm sure." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He couldn't help but chuckle a little at that. "Stubborn, sure, but weird? I'm not sure if that's how I'd describe you," Moses mused. "You seem to care a lot about how your nephew sees you. Are you guys close outside of this place?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Eh, a little, I haven't seen him as much in the past few years.." Agustín said. "But his mom's helped my dad get out of that afterlife place. They were always pretty cool. Besides my dad's friend Brandon, they're basically the only people in kept in contact with." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Hmm, I see. Well, it seems like you care about those other people too. It'd be good to get back to them," Moses faintly smiled. "Since you have one nephew, do you have any other extended family from his side? It sounds like your father's side of the family is the smaller one." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Hm. Cousins, I guess, but I never saw them much. My dad's family stuck around our home lake, my dad only left to go be a doctor. My abuelo died a few years back, and they were the ruler of the axolos.. Which is not a position that gets passed down the generations, so that really doesn't mean anything to me or my dad or our cousins." Agustin said. "I'm so far disconnected from axolotl society it's.. Hard to fit in when I visit. So I kind of just kept to myself there too." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses listened to Agustin intently, raising brow when he got towards the end. "Got the streak of a loner, hm? What's Axolotl society like that makes it difficult to.. well, 'fit in', I guess? Don't get me wrong, sometimes you're just in the wrong crowd, but it seems like there's something more." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I don't know- I guess, first of all, I'm not very comfortable in my axolotl form in the first place. I'm hardly ever in it, and it's.. Uncomfortable to me. My dad doesn't seem to mind as much, but he grew up there." Agustin sighed. "It's just different there. Like when I go to the States sometimes. But even more foreign, because it's not like I game with any axolotls, or watch their shows or movies, or.. Have any interaction with them besides my very regular dad. It's very tight knit. Everyone knows each other. It's underwater. It just doesn't feel natural to me at this point." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Again, Moses listened quietly to Agustin. He seemed a bit saddened to hear Agustin describe how he felt and he absent-mindedly tapped his finger against the edge of his mug. "I see.. I can kinda get it, in way," Moses nodded. "Having your heritage and feeling like a foreigner when surrounded by people who should be similar to you. You feel even lonelier when you're around them," he sighed. "Sorry you grew up that way, Agustin. Especially since you didn't really have anyone else but your dad." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"It's okay. I like being alone." Agustin said. "But you.. Can relate? Where are you from?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses glanced down, staring at his hot chocolate for a moment. "I was born in a rural village called Cua Daj Nplooj. The people there are very spiritual, believing in fortune telling, shamans.. all of that," Moses began. "Superstitions are also highly regarded there. Things that bring bad fortune are prohibited, or I suppose in my case, exiled. My mother died giving birth to me, which is a sign of a bad fortune upon the family and their land. My father and I immigrated to the states a few years after I was born, but I still remember how it felt to be the outsiders." He sighed, looking back towards Agustin. "We found more people like us in the states, people who left our home country for better things. My father thought we would live peacefully amongst them, but I could tell by the way they looked at us.. We still didn't fit in with them. I was also too 'westernized' to exactly fit in with their children anyways. I suppose that happens when your entire culture is weaponized against you." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Agustin listened just as intently as Moses had before, though he looked much more sad about it than Moses had. "Oh that's- um- awful." Agustin mumbled. Worse than just not getting along with some weird axolotls, probably. They never deliberately excluded him.... And they didn't have to move to get away from that bad attitude. "I mean maybe we all have some bad fortune to end up here.. This is probably worst case-scenario." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses weakly laughed. "Yeah, I suppose we all have some bad luck being stuck here," he agreed. "Being on the outside isn't too bad, anyways. You can always make your own village with people who accept you as you are, after all. Like how you have your nephew and friends." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽 '

"I guess so. But I've done a pretty bad job at that too." Agustín said. "What's your village back home? Your son and..?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Well, it's never too late to start adding more to your village," Moses said with a small smile. Though, he seemed to awkwardly shift as the question was returned. "Well, the only other people I really have a close relationship to is my ex-wife and her wife. I got some work buddies.. but that's all they are." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Hah, seems like we're similar then.." Agustín sighed. "I've never dated, either, so that's kind of off the table. And I'm not the most desirable axolotl specimen, so even if I go back to the lake, I doubt I'd have many ladies coming up to me. I don't think I'd be a good dad anyway." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses chuckled softly at that. "Really? I'm a little surprised by that. You don't seem that bad of a fella," he teased lightly, taking another sip of his cocoa. "I didn't think I'd be a good dad either when I was younger. I never planned for it, really. Kinda irresponsible of me, looking back at it, but I'm grateful for my son either way. "I haven't maintained any friendships for longer than a year- I don't know how I'd make a kid feel.. At home for however long. Forever..? I'm still living with my dad.." Agustín sighed. "It's normal for amphibs to not have their own kids, there's nine men for every woman, so most adopt. My dad's blood powers got him some interest when he got back home after his whole ordeal, I don't know what I'll have to show after this, if we even get out." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Well, in some cultures, it's pretty normal for multi-generational homes. It is in mine. So, it's not too strange that you're still living with your dad," Moses shrugged. He glanced over at Agustin, thinking for a moment. "I think you're too worried about what you have physically to offer. Sure, it's nice to have status, wealth, property.. But a successful relationship matters a lot on the non-physical too. My ex and I had a lot going for us, but we still didn't work out at the end of the day because we weren't compatible emotionally. It's difficult finding that right balance. Hell, I still haven't either." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Well, this was a somewhat new concept to Agustín here. He wasn't stupid or oblivious to society but.. Very underexposed to this aspect of it. "Oh." Agustín said. "Well I've never really been concerned about dating, doesn't seem super appealing, but maybe I could.. Apply that to other relationships." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses faintly chuckled and leaned back into his seat. "Well, my friend, you go and do that. Having buddies is important too. Who else can you grab a bite to eat with when you don't have your family around, after all?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"... Hm. Well usually I eat in my room with my snakes there-" He suddenly stopped. "Shit. Ugh. They're probably dead... They can go this long without eating but.. Without new water..... Shit." Well, now he just looked sad again. He put his plate down with a small whine. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses watched Agustin once again and reached over to give the man a small pat on his shoulder. "I'm sorry... You have snakes as pets though? That's an interesting choice. What uh.. kind are they?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"A ball python I've had for fifteen years.. And a little corn snake I've had for five.." Agustín sighed. "They're my only friends I hung out with in person. Besides my dad." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses did his best to try and picture what those snakes looked like. All he could muster was something similar to this

"Oh, that's interesting. Damn, fifteen years? That's a really long time. I get it though. I have two dogs back at home. I feel like I'm closer to them than my buddies at work," he chuckled. "Do your snakes got names?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽 (edited)

"Oh? You like The Hobbit series?" Moses perked up a bit at that. "Smaug and Tenia—Nice," he lightly chuckled as he leaned back into his seat. "Yeah, they're a handful sometimes, but I love them. They're golden retrievers. I had a buddy who was a breeder and he needed to get puppies to a new home. I took two since I thought it'd be nice for my son to grow up with pets." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Mhm, my dad gave me the Spanish version of the books when I was a kid, and I really enjoyed them." Agustin nodded. "Golden retrievers.. Those are pretty big dogs. Is there anyone at home to take care of them now..?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Ah, that's cool. I was really into that series when I was younger, but I fell off around the second Lord of the Rings," Moses hummed. "Yeah, both of my dogs are pretty big now. My son is actually quite good in taking care of them, and if he's with his mom, that means they have the dogs too. I'm not too worried," he added. "Though, I am a bit sad to hear so much time has passed in my world. I missed out on the one time I'm actually with my son for longer than a few days.." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Aw, yeah.. That really sucks." Agustin said. "Would your ex wife not let you spend more time with him after this to make up for it..? I feel like if we really can manage to get back home from here, your son will want to see you again sooner.. This is a very extenuating circumstance." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses shrugged. "I didn't really have a lot of time for reading after I joined the army, but maybe I should get back into it at some point," he said with a faint smile. "And honestly, she probably wouldn't mind, but it's really my job that's the issue. I tend to work 60 hour weeks, spending full days on shift. That's why I don't get to see Viktor very often during the school year. His breaks is when I make sure to take off so he has all of my attention... So maybe the guys will have my back when I say I was kidnapped by alien frogs.." Moses hummed. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Damn sixty hours- I can't imagine. I get tired like ten hours in to my work." Agustin said. "Do you think.. Anyone will believe you? About all this maze nonsense..? I'm worried everyone will just think I went crazy from stress with my dad in the hospital at this point..." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He couldn't help but chuckle at that. "I've always worked hard labor jobs, so it's honestly the norm for me," Moses shrugged. Though, he did have to give a moment to think about what Agustin said. "My son probably thinks I'm crazy, but that I can't be too crazy since I've been gone for a while. My ex would probably believe me though. Moses nodded. "Even insane space maze tournaments with amphibians," he repeated. Moses glanced down at his now cold cup of cocoa, his tired reflection blinking back at him. ... Did he mean that he had went through something like this before? Or just something equally as crazy? "Well-" Agustin paused as the anouncement rang out. "Are you going to go to that?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The veteran looked up, and sighed. "Hm.. I don't know if I'm ready to watch another so soon after.. that other fight," Moses replied. "Do you want to go see it?" He asked Agustin. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I.. Hm." Agustin mumbled. "It would probably be best if we see all the fights we can, so we can at least try to find anything else out.." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses sighed again, but nodded in agreement. "You're right. Let's go then," he said and stood up, holding his hand out for Agustin to take. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽
