With a loud resounding echo of lightning, Sovran and Kian were left alone in the middle of a blank, dark arena. When the onlookers quickly arrived after them, the arena was lit up with several spot-lights from above. The platform, now lit up in light, was a white vinyl and shaped into a large circle. Along with the various spotlights, there were a multiple of big screens displaying the fight from every angle. It was reminiscent of a wrestling match, and clearly made to allow all the onlookers to get a good look at the show. There was no exit in this long white space. Just two warm bodies. A man then appeared, clearly just a hologram however, in the middle of the arena. He was holding a mic and waving at the crowd. It was Bridge. "Welcome all, ladies, gents, and comrades! Congratulations on making it to the last show! We got a big one today--In one corner, 33, 6'2, and the walking embodiment of a pineapple, give it up for Sovran Zelkovas!" The sound of a loud cheer would be heard throughout the arena, no matter if the actual crowd did anything. "And in our other corner, the oldest 18 year old to ever come from Laputa, and a chronic power stealer, we got Kian Ravina von Valois!" WOO! "Before we get started however, we've all been a bit busy with plans and worries of if you'll make it out alive, so! I think we should let the contestants get to have a little reminder of what they're fighting for. There's no easy victory here folks. Watch in wonder as our two contestants battle, not just in the field of the body, but in the field of the mind. Try not to blink, because if you do, you might just miss the biggest show in all of this great Maze!" Bridge grinned and winked at the audience before the hologram of himself disappeared, leaving just Sovran and Kian on the brightly lit stage.

In front of Sovran appeared a brown wooden chest. It had a sign pointing to it that read 'OPEN ME!', and was obviously for the older man to have.

"You sick piece of shit!" Sovran growled as he saw Bridge. "I ain't fightin', I ain't gonna fight a kid- You ANIMALS!" He looked down to the box. "An' I ain't openin' this either." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian closed his eyes when he felt the zap hit him. It was a brief feeling of shock and surprise, but that was quickly overrun by the feeling of fear. He squinted as he felt the lights turn on and he looked around the arena when he heard Sorvan's voice. "M-Mr.." He could barely get the words out. "M-Mr. Sovran.." Kian clenched his cape, his knees shaking. "T-This can't be happening.." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"It's okay, kid, it's gonna be just okay," Sovran reassured him. "You're gonna get through this, alright? It's gonna be just alright. We'll figure out a way on out of here."

Kian wasn't as certain Sovran was and he stepped closer to the man out of fear something would jump out of them--Or that they would be separated. Overhead, Bridge's voice opted in again. "Hey, hey, now! Go ahead and open the box, please! You'll find it much more useful than you think, promise! If not, I can always just.. pop it open for ya!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran didn't trust Bridge to open the box for him. Maybe it was rigged for something, or it was- It was something dangerous. It'd probably be best for Sovran be the one to bite the bullet and have some control over this situation, and open it himself. "It'll be alright, kid," Sovran continued to reassure as he reached for the box. "It'll be alright.." Sovran opened the box. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Inside the box was... A newly made prosthetic leg! It was perfect for Sovran's height and build, and white in color. Beside the leg was a note: Put this on pretty please! :3 -Bridge Kian's eyes widened a bit as he saw the leg. His stomach started to turn a little as he stood quietly with Sovran. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran squinted at the leg before he looked away. ".. This ain't- Rigged with a bomb, or set to electrocute me or somethin', will it?" He asked out loud. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"That would be one hell of a boring fight if it did, wouldn't? Just put it on, pineapple man," Bridge huffed from above. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Alright, Prune," Sovran mumbled. He looked down at the leg and took it. ".. Seems a bit sus that they're givin' me a leg, ain't it?" Sovran spoke quietly to Kian as he set up the leg. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian nodded his head in agreement, but stayed quiet. He didn't trust his voice at the moment. ~ As soon as Sovran put on the prosthetic leg, the arena would go dark again. When the lights came back on, both Sovran and Kian were suddenly in a warmly lit room. It was quite spacious, having various couches and chairs surrounding a coffee table. There were games scattered about the area and a romantic tune could be heard playing from a record player. The soft sound of laughter and chatter could be heard coming from an adjacent hallway, as well as the smell of freshly baked bread and cookies. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran had set a hand on Kian's shoulder protectively the moment the lights went dark. As the setting came into view, the man remained on edge, though he became slightly.. Suspicious of the scene. He recognized the tune immediately. It was a vinyl he had owned at one point of tunes from the 1970s. The scent of bread was familiar: Banana walnut bread, with chocolate chip cookies baked alongside this. ".. What is this..?" Sovran asked softly. He continued to look around the room. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian shut his eyes again as the lights went out, and only opened them up when Sovran spoke. He looked around the room, clearly confused about what was going on. Was this.. an illusion? Everything felt so real. The feel of the carpet, the smells, even the sounds. It all itched at the back of Kian's head like a distant memory. "I-I.. I don't know," he quietly replied before turning towards the hallway where a light was beckoning them in. "..D-Do you hear that? It sounds like someone's here.." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

".. Stay behind me, alright? And hold on," Sovran offered the boy a hand. If this was similar to the previous match, there was the chance of them being in danger. "It'll be alright, I swear it." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian had a death grip on his cape as he glanced over at Sovran's hand. He honestly didn't trust himself to be in physical contact with Sovran at the moment and he begrudgingly shook his head. "I-I.. I-I'm okay. Lets just--Keep on going. T-This can't be real.." Kian replied, his gaze falling. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran couldn't blame the kid for being cautious. With a deep breath, Sovran nodded. He slowly led the way out of the living room that they were in. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The boy followed close behind Sovran. He wasn't any more than a step away as they walked. ~ Following the noise, Sovran and Kian would soon find themselves greeted by a wide dining space. There, a big family table was placed, and it was surrounded by more than just familiar faces. "Dad! Kian! There you guys are. We were wondering when you'd get back!" There, a girl with long dark hair and overalls smiled and waved at the two. It was Connie. Right beside her were Zora, Nathan, and Nora, all who shared an equally warm smile. From another door came in Jymaiyri with the fresh batch of bread. Then further down the table was Yeonaixho and a slightly older Minvera, maybe about two or three years old now. He was feeding the toddler some snacks before he turned towards where Sovran and Kian were. "Oh, is that you, sunflower? Could you give Eliana her bottle, please? I tried earlier, but she was being fussy," Yeonaixho asked Sovran with a soft smile. Beside the man was a small moveable crib. It had a solar system dial hanging above it, slowly spinning and entertaining a small pair of hands reaching up to it. From where Sovran and Kian were standing, they wouldn't be able to see who was in the crib. Yet, somehow, the small coos would seem familiar to Sovran, beckoning him in. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran's heart was pounding in his chest. His head grew dizzy as he took in the sight of the family before him. As soon as he heard the name, Eliana, he knew. 'This was everything he had ever wanted.' Tears filled the man's eyes as he tried to remember Kian's words. 'This can't be real. This can't be real.' Yet, it felt real. All of his senses were screaming at him to react. His body wanted to move and join them, to converse and speak to them, to feel more of this safety, this warmth that the family provided. His family. All he could manage out was a croaked, "Wh-what..?" He stared at the family. He couldn't look at the crib, not yet, because dear god, that made things too real. The sight was heartwarming to Kian. He had been yearning for a home like this again for years, and he knew that Sovran would of felt the same. A reminder of what they're fighting for. That's what the announcer said, right? Is this what he meant? Kian felt the corner of his lips fall and he awkwardly turned to look at Sovran. "M-Mr. Sovran?" He quietly asked. "Mister? Kian, when was the last time you called dad that?" Connie chuckled as she patted an open seat--A seat that belonged to Kian. The confused expression on Kian's face grew as he was addressed. "W-What?" Seems like Kian wasn't able to say anything more than Sovran either. Yeonaixho raised a brow as he listened to the conversation. "Sunflower..? Is everything alright? Did you and Kian not find what you were looking for in the living room?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Dad. Dad. He was a dad. He was a father- This man was a father. Sovran's heart continued to pound in his chest. He couldn't move, he was frozen to the spot. He probably had turned a shade paler as he made eye contact with Yeonaixho. 'No, that's not him. That's not the real Yeonaixho.' Sovran desperately tried to remind himself. "Ah- N-no, it wasn't there," Sovran cleared his throat as he spoke. The coos of the infant continued to be heard. Slowly, he turned his head to face the crib. A red cherry wood crib that would've been handmade by him. He had always planned on crafting the crib himself. And inside of that crib rested an infant. His infant. His baby girl, Eliana, the name he had chosen out for a daughter years ago. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian was also frozen in place--Like a deer caught in the headlights. This couldn't be real. No way--No way this was actually real. No matter how warm or loving or inviting this all seemed. Yet, a part of Kian's heart winced at the thought of rejecting Connie's offer. So, instead, he just stood there, his eyes glued to the floor. By now, Jymaiyri had settled down the bread and she made her way to Sovran. "Awh, that's alright. I'm sure we'll find it later. Why don't you go sit down with Eliana and feed her? Her bottle is still warm," she smiled as she placed a chaste kiss to Sovran's cheek. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu (edited)

"I-I-I'll-" The words were caught in Sovran's throat as Jymaiyri approached. She felt warm as she placed the kiss upon his cheek, she felt real. This all felt too real, and wordlessly, Sovran nodded his head. Sure, sure, he'd approach the crib. With trembling legs, he stepped closer and closer to the crib. His head was pounding so hard that he could hear the blood pumping in his ears. His hands had begun to shake. When he was close enough, he peeked inside to look at who was resting within the crib. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"W-Wait, Mr. Sov-" But it was already too late. Sovran was clearly under the spell of this illusion. To break him out of it now--Would Sovran forgive him? Kian bit his tongue and looked back down. ~ Eliana, no older than maybe a few months giggled as Sovran peeked over at her. Her eyes, nose, even the shape of her lips were all reminiscent of Sovran's own. She looked up at the man, no, her father, and smiled. She was dressed in a white onesie with sunflowers on it and a cute matching beanie, clearly an outfit the throuple would of picked for her. "Bwah!" She cooed, her little legs kicking in excitement. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran stared at the baby. His heart continued to pound harshly in his chest. His hands grasped the railing of the crib tightly as he looked at the baby. She was everything he had imagined. The baby girl he had always dreamed of was right before him, alive and existing right in front of him. He could feel warm tears roll down his cheeks as he continued to stare at his baby. This was cruel, she wasn't real, but- In this moment, at this very second, the man allowed himself to believe that this was real for a moment. "H-hi, baby girl," Sovran whispered. With a trembling hand, he lowered a finger toward the baby to feel if she was real. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Eliana giggled as she heard her dad's voice and with the best coordination a three month old could muster, grabbed Sovran's finger with her small tiny hand. She felt warm and soft--real. There's no way she was fake.. right? Yeonaixho, unaware of Sovran's tears, smiled a bit as he heard them interacting. "She missed you, you know," he commented with a soft voice. "I think she's been fussy since you've been out all day." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"I-I'll-" Sovran cleared his throat as he tried to speak through his tears. "I'll try n-not to be out as much.. I need to be h-here for every moment.." His other arm reached into the crib so he could scoop the baby into his arms. She had weight, she had warmth- She truly did feel real. "S-sorry your Papá's been gone, Ellie," Sovran spoke softly to the infant. "I'll be there for you- For every achievement, for every fall, for every stumble, for every rise, for everything- I'll be there for you, as a father should.." His voice got caught in his throat once more as he stared at his baby. "I-I love you.." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Finally, Kian peeled his eyes from the floor to look at Sovran. His eyes widened as he saw the baby in his arms--his baby. Sovran's baby? How was that possible? He took a step closer to Sovran before instantly regretting it. Sovran was crying. He was crying real tears as he held that small life in his hands. Even when Sovran had taken his poison, the man didn't cry. This... This was a scene built on Sovran's deep desire, and it seemed like Sovran didn't even care it was fake. The way Jymaiyri and Yeonaixho interacted with him was strange too. They seemed.. more than just good friends, all of them. Was that what Sovran desired from the couple? This was so much for Kian to take in. He couldn't even fathom what emotions Sovran was having. Eliana, oblivious to anything amiss, smiled and cooed as Sovran finally picked her up. She snuggled her face into his chest and got comfortable. She was used to daddy's scent and voice, feeling calmed just by his presence. "I'm sure she loves you too. Just like we all do," Yeonaixho said as he stood and placed another kiss to Sovran's temple. "Our sunflower." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu (edited)

"I gotcha, I gotcha, baby girl," Sovran held his baby close to his chest. He had even started to sway side to side, gently rocking the baby as he did so. "I love you too, all of you," Sovran spoke softly as Yeonaixho placed the kiss to his temple. "Truly, all of you, this.. This is all I've ever wanted in life.." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Despite already knowing this is exactly what Sovran ever wanted, it still made Kian's heart squeeze. This felt so wrong. He felt sick. This wasn't real. He couldn't believe they were playing with Sovran's emotions like this. This is wrong. Yeonaixho smiled warmly at Sovran and Jymaiyri came up beside him to wrap her arm around them both. "We know... That's why you have to win, Sovran." ~ In an instant, the room went dark once more. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

As the lights went out, Sovran backed up towards Kian. He held the baby protectively against his chest. He'd protect her, he'd protect Kian- He'd do anything in his power to keep them safe. 'That's why you have to win, Sovran.' That's what this was. Show him what he desperately wanted in life and force him to fight for it. If he died, this baby would never come to exist. Sovran felt sick to his stomach as he cradled his baby close. He tried to memorize the weight of her in his arms, how she fit so perfectly in them, how she truly was everything he ever wanted in life. His tears continued to fall as he waited for the light to return. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

A small yelp escaped Kian's lips when the room went dark once again. He took a few steps forward, hoping it would bring him closer to Sovran. ~ When the lights came back on this time, the two were no longer in the dining room. Instead, a clear blue sky filled over head of a beautiful blooming garden. This garden would be familiar to both Sovran and Kian, painfully so for the latter. The soft chirping of birds, buzzes of native insects, and the warm sun danced on the two's skin. In the distance, hidden by a few clouds, was the castle of Laputa. They were on a stone path, which was leading to a white gazebo just a short distance away. And no, Eliana was not there with them, leaving an empty weight in Sovran's hands. The gazebo was in the center of a small pond, connected to land by a stone bridge. The surrounding foliage provided a nice spot of shade over the gazebo and protected another set of familiar faces from the sun. There, sitting at a small table were Aeva Ravina von Valois, Opal Ravina von Valois, and Persis Lancaster. Kian's mothers and his dear uncle. Even Sovran was familiar with them all. They seemed to be chatting and having tea time together, before the Knight Commander noticed Sovran and Kian. "Prince Kian! And Sir Sovran, come, come! Join us for some tea!" Persis beckoned the two with a small wave and smile. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran's arms felt empty the moment Eliana was taken from him. He tried not to over think about the lack of her weight in his arms. It felt as though a part of him had been taken the moment she disappeared. He quickly rubbed his tears away, desperate to regain control over his emotions. However, the sight of Persis, Aeva, and Opal caught his attention. Kian's family. The man slowly turned to Kian to gauge the kid's reaction. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The sudden bright light stung Kian's eyes as he opened them again, but unlike the house before, this place was eerily familiar to Kian. He would recognize the shape of any leaf in this garden in an instant. Blind, he would be able to walk through his garden. His back was turned to the scene in front of them, unable to muster the strength to turn around. His eyes were blown wide and his hand clenched his cape like it would kill him if he let go. Kian's breathing picked up and he looked to Sovran for aid. "M-M... M-Mr. Sovran.. Mr. Sovran.." He kept repeating, the ends of a panic attacking coming on. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"I-it's okay, kid, it's okay," Sovran soothed. He rested his hands on the kid's shoulders. "They're- They're messin' with our heads, and they're- Makin' things realistic. It's okay, it's g-goin' to be okay. It ain't real, n-no matter how real it feels, i-it ain't real." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

This time, Kian took Sovran's hand into his own. He just needed to feel some sort of grounding touch. Something real. Anything, real. "Hey, come on you two! The tea is going to get cold if you do not come over!" Persis continued to beckon them. "We even got your favorite, Prince Kian! White tea with some honey and fruit tarts! Kian could already see the expression on his uncle's face without turning around. The same warm smile, the yellow roses in his hair--It haunted Kian. "D-Don't.. I-I don't want t-to go.." He quietly whimpered to Sovran. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran squeezed Kian's hand tightly. He tried to shove down the aching in his chest so he could be strong for the boy. "I know, I know, kid," Sovran spoke softly. "I think we- Gotta do it in order to get through this. I think it's part of their sick game. I-I'm sorry, but- You won't have to go through it alone, I'll be right by your side." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"N-No, no, no--I-I can't--I can't do this, M-Mr. Sovran," Kian began to cry, immediately breaking down. It was then did a few rushing steps approached the pair. "Kian? Kian!" Opal had rushed out of the gazebo when she noticed her son was acting strangely, and Aeva was jogging not too far behind her. Seems like no matter what, the scene would continue. Kian froze as he heard his mother's voice and he squeezed Sovran's hand unbearably tight. "Kian, what happened? Are you okay? Sir Sovran, what is going on?" Opal worriedly asked the older man as she knelt down to tend to her baby boy. Aeva did the same, gently brushing Kian's hair out of his face. "It's okay, baby, shh.. It's alright. Just breath," Aeva reassured him. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"I'm here, I'm here, I'm with you," Sovran squeezed his hand. "We just- Gotta endure and survive, kid, i-it'll be over soon." "It's alright, he and I were just talkin' 'bout a few things, but it's okay," Sovran reassured Aeva and Opal. "It'll be all okay, swear it." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian couldn't look at either of his mothers. *They're not real. They're not real. They're not real.* His moms died right in front of him. His uncle did too. They couldn't be here. None of them could. Yet, somehow, their voices, their touch--Everything was just like it was back then. He finally garnered the courage to open his eyes, and the sight that greeted him made him want to scream. Opal and Aeva, a shared look of genuine worry on their face as they looked over their baby. Persis soon joined them, a similar expression on his face. "Oh, dear.. It is alright, Prince Kian. Just catch your breath. It will be okay like Sir Sovran said," the knight commander nodded. "It will be okay as long as you make it out of this alive." ~ The lights echoed as they were shut off once again. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

As soon as the lights went off, Sovran squeezed Kian's hand. It'll be okay, it'll be okay. I'm here. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The lights came on once again, and finally, finally, the totem would appear—On the center screen, that is. It was placed on a marble platform and Bridge patted the head of the frog. "Now, I'm sure everyone enjoyed those pleasant scenes! Heartwarming, weren't they? It just makes you want to shed a tear!" Bridge said and dramatically wiped at his eye. "Well, I hope you're all hydrated, because there may be more tears to come! The totem will only become available once one person falls off the platform. Method used to be the last one standing is up to the contestants. The fight won't be over until then, annnd just to make it a teensy-weensy more fair, let's throw in some neutral ground for a few minutes!" The vinyl flooring beneath Sovran and Kian's feet would began to glow a faint green. Both Sovran and Kian would feel a distinct feeling of their powers being drained. All of them. Looks like they would have to go for a few minutes without any of their fancy powers to help them out. "And just remember this folks: We're all fighting for something. How much are you willing to do to get it?" And with that, the arena went silent, leaving just Sovran and Kian alone on their white platform. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

It seemed like Sovran wasn't affected by the green glow coming from below them, judging by how he could still talk like normal. Kian, on the other hand, immediately fell to his side beside Sovran. He started to scream in pain, the affects of the vengestone immediately taking place. Sovran would be able to see something change in Kian. His body twitched in uncontrolled movements, like his skeleton was itching to escape the flesh surrounding it. The boy's hair started to grow in a rapid pace and the clothes he wore began to tear as his body simply expanded. Kian was growing. He was growing up right in front of Sovran's eyes. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran's heart pounded as he dropped down to his knees beside Kian. "K-kid?!" Sovran called out to him. He blinked a few times as he processed what was occurring- He was growing, Kian was growing up- Was this a side effect of their powers being shut off? Fuck! Sovran quickly pulled his jacket off and put it over Kian. "It's okay," He quickly reassured. "It's okay, Kian, it's alright. You're okay." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Well, a kid was what Kian wasn't any more. Without his powers, Kian's body began rapidly aging by the minute. He was already living on stolen time. It only made sense it would be given back to him eventually. Kian continued to scream in pain for a little while longer, his body trying its best to acomadate for the sudden changes. After a few seconds, Kian seemed to finally stop screaming. He took in deep breaths, sweat beading down his face as a new look of exhaustion washed over him. He had grown at least to 6'5ft now, gaining muscle and even the faintest of stubble on his chin. Somehow, as his body was adjusting, a odd black rot formed at the end of his cut off arm. It made its way upwards, but mostly started to take shape at the edges. It soon sprouted out into a monstrous form of an arm, like rotten wood on a tree. The rot that was spreading onto Kian's arm momentarily stopped around his bicep, at the very least. "M-..Mr. Sovran.." Kian whimpered between breathes. Even Kian's voice became noticably deeper, more mature than before. "W-What.. W-What's happening?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Y'know how you stayed immortal? Think that- With the powers bein' cut off, you might've aged," Sovran continued to keep his voice steady for Kian. "You're okay, it's alright, son, I swear it. They should turn the powers back on soon, a-any second." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

His brows knotted in confusion and fear. His powers? They were cut off? "W-What? I-" Kian painfully sat up, trying his best to summon anything... but nothing. Nothing happened. "M-Mr. Sovran--This--This isn't good," Kian huffed in a panic. "If they don't come b-back soon. I-I.. I-I'm going to die-" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

The child had tears streaming down her cheeks as her own hand was formed into a tight fist. She looked petrified as she stared at Kian, her whole body trembling with terror. The scene in front of Kian broke his heart. Sovran was right. He knew it would come to this. No matter how hard he tried, Sovran would always find a way to go out like a fucking hero. Kian tried to move, painfully pulling his arms and legs, but found himself bound to nothing. He stared at Sovran in frustration and panic. "P-Please, stop," Kian begged, but not to Maia. "L-Let him go.." A slight burning sensation spiraled on Kian's back, and the audience would be able to see the faintest outline of a sundial on his back. It flickered, like it was struggling to take hold in Kian's body. There was a new number on Kian's back, and it burned as Kian looked at Sovran. The tree roots did as told, and slowly put Sovran onto the ground. They didn't remove themselves, as that would simply bleed Sovran out. With Kian stuck in place, he couldn't go over to Sovran. Sovran moaned with agony as he was lowered to the ground. He pressed his forehead into the floor and gasped for air, letting out an occasional whine of pain when coughs wracked his body. The man was hardly in any condition to be moving or fighting. Maia, however, kept her grasp firmly on Kian. She rushed over to Sovran's damaged body and fell to her knees. Silently, the child cried and attempted to rest her other hand on his shoulder to try and comfort him. "M-Maia-" The word barely escaped Sovran. "Sw-sweetheart, y-you gotta let him go-" Stubbornly, the Remnant shook her head. "Please, Maia, y-you-" Sovran coughed again. Blood came up as he attempted to speak. Kian struggled against the hold Maia had on him, but it was no use. That girl had an iron grip, and he was in no real condition to fight against it. The blood he was slowly losing was starting to make him a little dizzy, but Kian couldn't take his eyes off the man across from him. "G-Get up. You.. Y-You can't die.." Kian wheezed. "N-No.. no, no, no! Stop it! No!" Kian shouted as he finally broke away from Maia's hold. He fell forward, grunting in pain as he rolled onto his side, but he quickly stumbled over to Sovran after. He left little blood trails, but Kian didn't care. His focus was on the man in front of him. Kian fell to his knees and started to try and help Sovran, getting his blood all over his hands and clothes. Just like at the beach. "Y-You have to get up! You can't die! Y-You can't!" Kian demanded. He couldn't bear it. The thought of losing yet another parent in his life. Just how many could he lose right in front of him? "I-I'll close your wounds. J-Just don't die. "Y-you're a g-good kid, Kian," Sovran whispered, blinking rapidly. The man seemed to be growing dazed as he continued to lose blood. "I-I would've- Loved to s-see the m-man you'd b-become.." Kian helplessly tried to activate his blood powers, grabbing Sovran's hand and wishing for a miracle, but alas, nothing seemed to work. Hot tears boiled up in his eyes again, the first show of the real Kian since the fear he displayed earlier. "S-Shut up. Save your strength. There—There has to be something I can do," Kian said through clenched teeth. He was so frustrated with himself. He got them in this situation, yet it still ended up the same way. The pool of blood around Sovran continued to grow in size. Still, the man continued to smile. "Y-you must be- Terrified, kid," Sovran spoke softly. "I-I'm so-sorry to have to.. Put you th-through this kind of experience.." His hand weakly grasped Kian's ungloved one. "Th-there ain't- Nothin' y-you can do right now, Ki-Kian, and th-that's okay.. I-I think I've already a-accepted it, th-the moment you read my c-cards out loud to me.." "I-I've-.. I've g-got a gift for you, kid," Sovran cleared his throat and took in a shuddering breath of air. "C-consider it a v-victory gift.." The third eye at Sovran's forehead opened up. Various colors illuminated the iris before it settled on a darker shade of blue. Nullify. At their united hands, Kian would be able to feel a rush of energy surge through him as Sovran transferred the power to the young man. There was shared blood between their locked hands. Mostly Sovran's, but Kian had his fair share that mixed into it. The sight made Kian want to vomit. No. No—Please, anything but this- Before Kian could pull away, Sovran had already began the process. Just how many times had something like this happen before? First it was Aeva. Then Persis. Then lastly, Opal. All on their deathbeds, they gave Kian a part of them—A part of their soul to hold. Now, Sovran was doing the same thing. It was cruel. This all had to be some sick cruel joke on him. Feeling Nullify through his fingertips, Kian immediately retracted his hand. "Wh—What did you-" A small humming started to fill Kian's chest. With Nullify, the balance of his body was starting to shift once again. Sovran had already accepted this? Ever since the cards? No, that can't be... no.. An immense feeling of guilt and shame flooded his veins, and Kian used his monstrous hand to hide his eyes and tears. "I.. I-I.. there's s-still something I can do-" Kian shakingly said. "S-sorry, c-can't help b-but be proud of you.. I'm st-still sorry to h-have to do this to you.." Sovran chuckled quietly. He slowly turned his head to face the arena stands. His heart began to ache and falter in his chest as he took in the sight of everyone watching. His gaze rested on Connie, Yeonaixho, Zora, Nora, Minnie, Nathan- "D-do me a favor, w-will you?" Sovran licked his bloodied and cracked lips. "L-let 'em know that I-I love them, alright..? Let 'em kn-know that I love a-and cherish them, and that-... That I'm thankful for th-this death planet g-giving me p-people to love, a-and care for.. I h-had no one before, b-but-" Tears filled his eyes and slowly slipped down his face. Droplets fell into the puddle of blood he was resting in. "A-all I've wa-wanted was a family, a-and- To le-leave 'em behind, t-to leave you behind, I c-can.. Only hope for the best for you all.. I.. I hope that they c-can still be a family, e-even without me.." Sovran shut his eyes as his tears continued to fall. There was some sort of expression of peace and acceptance upon his face, yet, his fingers shook. A part of him was scared of the end, but he knew it was coming. An imaginative weight rested itself upon his chest, and the man hiccuped with a barely concealed sob. The weight felt familiar, it almost felt as though Eliana was resting her small body against his chest. It was easy to imagine his baby girl sleeping upon him as he started to become detached from his body. His limbs grew heavy and cold. He focused solely on that weight, the warmth that his mind tricked him into feeling in his final moments. Maybe his daughter was real after all. "I-I love you all.." Sovran exhaled. He choked on his blood with his next inhale, and it caused him to cough it out to clear his throat. The man wouldn't last for much longer in this condition.@ajjjjjjjj (edited)

Sovran's words were a knife to his chest. Proud? What was there to be proud of? There was a pang in his ear as loud as drums as Kian sat there, helpless and hopeless. His heartbeat raced, trying to find some sort of solution to all of this that would allow for Sovran to live. Kian was half tempted to run off the edge of the platform again, but he knew that was a betrayal of Sovran's wishes. Hadn't he already betrayed Sovran enough? Kian didn't understand how Sovran could give him any more trust to break. There was no more family after this. Not for Kian, at least. If Sovran died... he really did have no one. Even uncle Agustin would return to his Kian. His world would remain the same. Empty. Just like it had been for the past two hundred years. Kian want to shout at Sovran for being so selfless once again. Curse him, even. He had never felt so much rage and bitterness in all the years he was alive. Yet his body had changed. It had finally changed and grew, and Kian didn't recognize himself. How was he supposed to continue without Sovran? Who was going to help him now? Hot tears fell down Kian's cheeks and his brows furrowed as he tried to keep his composure. "I'm sorry.." He whispered, only audible to Sovran. "I'm s-so sorry, dad.." The tree roots began to shift again, as if to deal the finishing blow, but just as they formed, something in the air stilled. The lights became cold and suddenly, the platform began to shake. The roots startled and prepared to protect Kian, holding onto him and leaving Sovran. Before Kian could react, the platform crumbled. It was like an earthquake on just their platform. The ground broke and cracked into pieces, shaking and jutting out from the center until it eventually came under Sovran. "No-!" In an instant, Sovran would be sent downward... falling with the crumbled platform and leaving Kian with the smallest piece with just roots to hold him. The only indication that Sovran had felt pain during his passing was Maia’s reaction. The little girl had doubled over and silently screamed. In just mere seconds, she dissolved as well. Someone stood in the field with Kian. It was none other than himself, the younger version of himself that had existed a mere hour before. The Remnant stood in Sovran’s pool of blood, crying, simply staring at Kian. What have we become? What have we done?
