... Jymairyi would awake in a strange room- four gray stone walls surrounded her, and a stone floor, with a clear glass ceiling showing various stars and galaxies above. It would be almost beautiful, if not for the circumstances. The room itself was mostly featureless, just the four walls with no decor... And seemingly no exit?? Jymairyi sat along the wall of the room, she had a splitting migraine that did not fade even as s he was waking up. She was chained to the wall behind her- from her wrists and ankles. There was a figure floating in front of her. It floated about five feet off the ground, and a gray cloak covered its body. The cloak was about four feet long, so the creature inside was that size or smaller. The only feature of its actually body visible were its eyes- six glowing eyes. Two each of red, blue, and green. Its stared down at him, almost as if it were analyzing her. There was a man in the room as well, laying limply on the far side of the room. He had black hair and green highlights- shaved on one side with an intricate pattern. His eyes were closed weakly. He wore a flowing open robe, green pants, and green dress shoes. His body was riddled with red scars-.. Burns, maybe? His right arm was bandaged up, and his gray cloak was spotted with blood all over. His only movement was weak breathing. Oh, he was also loosely holding the baby in his arms. It looked unharmed. But probably wasn't happy. If she was crying, it couldn't be heard by Jymairyi. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

As soon as Jymaiyri came to, she was alert, scanning her surroundings. Weird space ceiling? Okay. She could deal with that. Chained to the wall? Worse, but still kind of manageable? Weird floating entity? She wasn't thinking about that right now. Her baby- Her baby was crying, screaming, trying to wiggle out of the unconscious man's arms. Even though Jymaiyri couldn't hear her, she could see the anguish on the baby's face. Minerva reached out for her mother, trying to get to her. "MINERVA!" Jymaiyri shouted, pulling on the chains that restricted her. She didn't even say hello to the weird floating guy. "MINERVA! I'm coming for you, baby! I'm coming!" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Well, Jymairyi could try to scream, and she'd feel the strain on her vocal cords, but no sound would be emitted. The longer Jyamairyi was stared at, the more her head hurt. It felt like someone was clawing through it. Finally, the figure pointed at her. It's hand was small. As soon as that happened, a flash of a memory entered Jymairyi's mind. It was her but- but it wasn't..? Her guts were all hanging out of her torso-... And her expression was hard to read. More memories were pulled in to her mind, thankfully these were all actually hers. Random people from her life- Juno, strangers, friends, family.. "Hard. To find. Version. Of you. Living.!." The memories spoke, each segment was spoken by a different person- or the same person at a different time. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Though it was very clearly not working, Jymaiyri continued to scream and thrash, crying to her child that she'd be there soon. Only when the pain in her head became too much to bare did she stop, but only for a moment to catch her breath. When the figure pointed its tiny hand at her, and the image of her mangled corpse flashed through her mind, she stopped. What the fuck? This creature- this thing, had to be fabricating false memories. It was some kind of weird power. Nevermind the fact the other memories were clearly hers. Wet, stressed tears formed in the corners of her eyes. Version of her? What did THAT mean? Instead of asking- she'd doubt that would've worked, anyways, Jymaiyri yanked forward, snapping the chains that restrained her wrists to the wall. She tenatively stood up, though her ankles were still restrained. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The figure kept pointing at her. She felt a strong urge to break through the ankle chains, so she did that was well. She ran over to Minerva and tried to pick her up from the unconscious man, but the moment she got close, Minerva began to melt. She melted down in to a pile of sludge right in front of her. And Jymairyi stared at it. She stared at it for so long, longer than she ever would have wanted to. Then, all of a sudden, she was back to where she had been at. Her ankles restrained to the wall, Minerva, crying but alive, across the room. The figure was no longer pointing. "Warning. One. Warning." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

Jymaiyri's heart was racing- pounding in her ears as she tried to process what she had seen. More false memories- none of that was real. She had to keep believing that. She looked not at the figure, but at her child. Jymaiyri tried to pull her legs out of the ankle restraints, but couldn't. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Cease." Someone from her memories demanded. The creature raised its hand to point again- but this time directed toward the unconscious man across the room holding the crying infant. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

At the command, Jymaiyri did seem to pause and think over what she was doing. She stopped trying to scream and free herself. She took in deep, laborious breaths. Slowly, Jymaiyri backed away- she crouched down, giving the impression she was giving up. She didn't take her eyes off the floating figure, though. She planted both hands on the floor, palms to the earth. She pushed down. Vines erupted out of the ground, twisting around the figure's floating form and squeezing far tighter than a mortal form would be able to take. The vines were covered in an array of sharp thorns, piercing the figure as they coiled around it. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽 (edited)

The creature didn't have time to react to that before the vines were wrapped around it. It made no noise, but all the sound that was previously absent from the room came rushing back. The crying baby, her voice, and sound of the chains moving, everything. The creature went entirely still and widened its eyes, still looking directly at Jymairyi. "Want to see. Yeonaixho again. Cease. Cease. Cease. Cease." The same voice played repeatedly at the end. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Ah- augh-" Jymaiyri coughed as her voice was returned. "Fuck you!" She shouted at the creature, then to Minverva, "Don't worry! I'm coming!" She set to breaking away her ankle chains- now less difficult now that she was sitting down. Once she was free, she scrambled over to her baby and scooped her into her arms. "Shhh, shhh... I'm here now." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

When Jymairyi grabbed Minerva, the man who had been holding her shifted. His eyes opened for a moment, revealing dark scleras and a pinprick of white pupil, but he only groaned and closed his eyes again, letting his now empty arms fall to the ground. Seems that Jymairyi was basically on her own with Minerva now. With no way out of this room. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Minerva's crying subsided as Jymaiyri held her. She was, at least, now so tired it was hard to still be upset. Jymaiyri rocked her gently, holding her to her chest. "Shh... it's okay, baby. It's okay." She turned to where the floating creature was still restrained. "Tell me what's going on. Where's Yeonaixho? Where are we?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Nok Rakin. Able to help. Help him." The 'Nok Rakin' was a memory that Jymairyi did not originally have. It seemed to be of the man in the corner- introducing himself to Yeonaixho, who had his ankles chained to the wall in the same room. Rakin looked much better at that time... Uninjured, besides for the bandaged arm. .. Whose blood was on him? @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri's brow furrowed, and she glanced over to where Rakin lay. "You want me to help *him?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Jymaiyri... didn't have much to say about that. She moved over to Rakin, and tried to stir him awake. "Hey. You. Get up." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Because... mmmnnnm.. sorry-" Rakin apologized as he thrust his hand forward on to Jymairyi's head. A shock came from his hand that sent her whole body jittering and shaking. Rakin quickly stood and took Minerva before Jymairyi could drop, squeeze, or shake her on accident. Jymairyi herself would slump to the ground, her entire body feeling numb and unable to move. Rakin held Minerva oddly by one arm. He clearly didn't know what to do with a baby. (edited)

Jymaiyri could not protest before her body went numb, and slumped to the ground. Minerva began to cry again shortly after Rakin had took her. She was not having a very good day. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Eeeeeeuuuughh-" Rakin mumbled as the baby cried. "One moment I- I think I may know what to do." He disappeared in a flash of lightning with Minerva, and the cloaked figure took that as its chance to get going as well. It disappeared in flashes of red, green, and blue, letting the vines fall limply to to the ground. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Rakin came back a while later, reappearing with the same flash of lightning. He was now holding Jymairyi in a wooden bucket that was slowly dripping out water. She looked soaked from her head down, but the water she was sitting in was only waist deep. "Your humanling.. eft..? Larva..?- Looked dry. I think that's why it was in distress." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Minerva was still very upset about having been teleported around. Rakin's hypothesis was being disproven. "Wh-" Jymaiyri tried to pull herself up. "Why did you put her in water?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Jymairyi would be able to move, just slightly. Definitely not feel strong enough to push herself up. "Because young dessicate outside of water..? This thing was entirely dry, it was going to die. Also, where's it's tail..?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"She doesn't need to be wet- she's gonna get a cold-" Jymairyi kept trying to get up. "What? She's a human baby! She doesn't have a tail!" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

She could move her arms a little more now... Rakin changed his hold again, now holding his hands right under her armpits with his hands holding on to her gently. "... I didn't know your humanlings were so picky." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"She's not a humanling, she's a baby." Jymaiyri braced herself up to her hands and knees. "You have to be careful with them because they're still really fragile." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Then hold her correctly. Support her head." Jymaiyri moved herself to a sitting position by bracing herself against the wall. Minerva had stopped crying for now, and instead was looking at Rakin curiously while trying to stick her hand in her mouth. Rakin was a bit confused, since he was already holding her with both hands, so how was he supposed to support her head too..? He shifted her around a few times before holding her against his chest, with her head supported by his shoulder. "You have been invited to The Maze to compete. The baby was not invited, but from what I saw of it, it looked pretty helpless, so I decided to transport it with you. It is not also competing, since that would not be very fair." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Competing in.... okay." Jymaiyri sighed. This... was awful, but she was tired. "I assume I don't get much choice? Thanks for looking out for my baby, I guess..." She sighed. "What's the competition?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Jymaiyri took in another breath, then began to sob. She put her hands to her face. "Why? I didn't agree to this! You can't do this to me!" Through her sobs she managed, "Yeonai has a sister..." but soon went back to, "You're going to kill us. You're just going to kill us. You're going to kill us all." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'm not going to kill you-.. If you lose your fight, you will be cast out in to space. Where you will suffocate and freeze very quickly.." Rakin tried to explain. "This is an improvement from what my master's original plan was." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"I don't care that it's an improvement from the original plan! An improvement would be sending me and my family back home so we can live our lives!" A pause, and she added, "And sticking someone out the airlock is still killing them!" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I am sorry. You will understand in time." Rakin said. "You have been thrust in to centuries of conflict at the peak of it all. It will be very hard to understand in full before it is too late." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Yeah? You better get to explaining, then." Jymaiyri replied, her anger clear. "What's so important its worth killing everyone here for, huh? Do you people not value life?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yes, I value life more than you could imagine. People used to describe me as quite selfless.." Rakin hummed. "This event is to celebrate the resurrection of the greatest species to ever exist in all of this universe. They love conflict and suffering, so they think an event like this is quite a worthy prelude." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Wh- what the fuck? And I don't get a say in this?" Jymaiyri sobbed. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

".. Unfortunately no. My master picked out the contestants, and I had to transport them here and speak to them." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Your master's a fucking asshole, and it seems you are too." Jymaiyri said, though her the sharpness of her anger was muddled by fear and grief. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

".. I know." Rakin said. "There is nothing that you can do at this point. Take comfort in that it is out of your hands, and that everything that happens is not your fault." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"That's not comforting! It's not comforting to be told you're going to die and that you can't do anything about it!" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"You are free from your responsibilities for the next few days. I will see to it that-" A crack of thunder shot across the room. "You and Yeonaixho get to see each other again." Another crack of thunder. "He's not dead. But don't say anything about it here. They're listening." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

That, at least, seemed to calm Jymaiyri down a bit. She lowered her hands from her face. Could she trust Rakin? She doubted it. But she wasn't in a good position not to. She nodded at Rakin's promise, but as he instructed, didn't say anything. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

As she moved her hands away, Rakin's expression turned sour. He glanced away- toward a different corner of the room- before looking back at Jymairyi. "What? Looking to see if your 'baby' is still breathing?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

Minerva was actually doing pretty well. "Could you at least let me hold her?" Jymaiyri pleaded. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"No. But in time, you will." Rakin said. He adjusted Minerva so he was only holding her with one arm and resting against his chest. He began to step over toward Jymairyi, extending his bandaged hand out toward her. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri shifted her posture, and stared up at Rakin, but wasn't fighting back. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Minerva turned as much as she could towards Jymaiyri, reaching out towards her. Being held by this weird stranger was great and all (it wasn't), but she wanted her mom. Jymaiyri didn't move but to reach up her hand, letting Minerva wrap her hand around hers. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

As soon as they touched, Rakin moved Minerva back so that she couldn't look at Jymairyi, or touch her. A shock went through Rakin's hand and in to Jymairyi's head, knocking her out instantly. He made extra sure that Minerva wasn't looking at her mother slumped to the floor. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri slumped back to the floor. Yup. She's out. Despite Rakin's best efforts, Minerva was upset simply about being moved away from her mom. She began crying again. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Shhhhhhh," Rakin said. He didn't really know how to comfort a baby.. He awkwardly patted her on the head. "I'm going to make you a coat. You'll need it." And with that, all three of them disappeared in a flash of lightning from the room. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺
