Ulysses would awake in a strange room- four gray stone walls surrounded him, and a stone floor, with a clear glass ceiling showing various stars and galaxies above. It would be almost beautiful, if not for the circumstances.
The room itself was mostly featureless, just the four walls with no decor... And seemingly no exit??
Ulysses sat along the wall of the room, a migraine fading from his head as he woke up. The tingling was gone, and he had full control over his body. One of his hands was chained tightly to the stone wall behind him.
There was a man in the room. With black hair and green highlights- shaved on one side with an intricate pattern. Their eyes were dark voids, besides one pinprick of white, glowing light. He wore a flowing open robe, green pants, and green dress shoes. His body was riddled with red scars-.. Burns, maybe? His right arm was bandaged up and shaking terribly, along with his left shoulder. His entire gray outfit was stained with blood.
As Ulysses stirred, he looked over with a blank expression. He held his shaking right hand out toward Ulysses' head as he walked toward him.
"Hoyseksagu." He said. His voice sounded like the final voice that was chanting in his head before he vanished.

As Ulysses made eye contact with the strange person, his expression lit up. If there was any sign of fatigue before, it was instantly gone, and from the stranger's point-of-view, they would have thought that Ulysses was a long lost friend the way he excitedly greeted them.
"Sup!"
Before the other could respond though, Ulysses continued.
"Thank you for pre-ordering NFA 2023. Is this your first time on the field?"

Rakin stepped up to him and placed his hand on his head, sending out a bolt of electricity through him. Ulysses' body seemed to glitch and morph as that happened, and Rakin took a stumbley step back.

Ulysses’s form turned black and white briefly before flashing to solid red, blue and yellow all in the matter of a blink before his shape, and color, returned to normal.
“If this is your first time playing an NFA game, don’t worry, I’ll take you through the tutorial. You’ll be a pro in no time.”

When Rakin asked about the last thing Ulysses remembered, the footballer made a face.
“Sorry bro, you don’t have a match history. You need to hit the field first! Would you like me to take you through the tutorial?”

"Great." Ulysses clapped his hands together, a motion that was quite awkward considering he was stuck to a wall. "Which side of the ball would you like to start with: offense or defense?"

"Defense, now we're talking." Ulysses' expression changed, almost to that of a sinister grin. "The key to a good offense is a good defense, that's where I come in, and that's where you'll come in. The offense has four attempts to make at least yards; that's called a first down. As the defense, our job is to stop them from crossing that yard line, which will be marked on your map with a yellow line. If they cross it, they get a new set of downs as they march across the field toward the goal line. If they fail on the fourth attempt, that's called a turnover-on-down, and our offense will get a chance with the ball to make some magic happen. Hoo-ah!"
