Isabelle groaned as she entered the cool building, letting out a loud sigh of relief when the air conditioning hit. She had been in similar heat waves before, but this was downright insufferable. If it were not for the fight in question, the arena would've been a pleasant break from the labyrinth. Looking around, she took in the new environment. It was about damn time someone chose this side to expand. It seemed like the other side was making much more progress. Not that she could control the outcome at this point. As she noted the ice cream machines, she made eye contact with a particular flavor. ... Juradin's Jubilee The artistic vision was starting to get on her nerves... but it wouldn't hurt to try. She was hungry, and it was very refreshing. After some assembly in a small cup, Isabelle made her way to an empty table and sat down, ready to taste this joke of an ice cream. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki followed Isabelle in shortly after and shuddered slightly at the cool air. They looked over towards the ice cream and wandered over to it, staring at it curiously. What were these ice cream names...? They stared at it in confusion, frowning to themselves underneath the mask. Maki continued to just...stare at the ice cream until they turned around and saw Isabelle. They didn't say anything, instead they tilted their head at her as a small question mark appeared next to them. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle didn't immediately notice Maki, staring down the spoon for the longest time. Eventually she noticed the sensation of eyes on her and turned to find Maki just... staring at her. "Can I help you?" She asked cautiously. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Who are you? Maki signed. Then they paused and summoned a book, writing something down before they turned the book to Isabelle. WHO ARE YOU? was written. NEVER SAW YOU BEFORE? @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle looked on in confusion. Not because of the silence, but a general lack of recognition of the signing. Was that...? Huh. She raised her hands for a moment, but quickly put them down. Who knew sign language would have a language barrier? She fumbled around for a bit, not sure how to respond, instead motioning for Maki to approach. "My name is Isabelle. Would you prefer that I write?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki seemed a bit unsure, though after a few seconds of a internal debate, they walked over and continued to write. No need. I can hear. Talking is hard. I prefer sign or to write. I am Maki. They wrote down before they showed Isabelle the book. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle read the message over a few times. "I see. Well it's nice to meet you, Maki. I do apologize, ASL is my weak point when it comes to sign. The only one I've never had to learn. You'd think they wouldn't be so different but they're quite distinct. Sorry to make you write so much." She apologized, looking between Maki and the book. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

You know other types of sign? What type? Maki asked as they looked up at Isabelle seemingly eager. The mask had a small smile on its face. I don't mind writing. But if you know other sign... @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle curiously looked at the mask. She wasn't one to ask. Instead she raised her hands again. 'I know British if you would prefer English, but I have learned a few varieties.' She moved carefully, making sure she was doing it as well as she could remember. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki studied Isabelle careful, seemingly thinking about what to say next before the signed as well. Sign is useful. You do not need to communicate with sign to me. I sign fast. They laughed a tiny bit before turning to the notebook as they began to write. Talking doesn't come easy. But I am working on it and working on making friends. "I see. Very brave of you to try." Isabelle admitted with full sincerity. "I've only seen Moses once before. I can see why he believed you should make friends. Although I'm not entirely sure I'm not a very good candidate for that." She chuckled nervously. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stared at Isabelle for a few seconds. They seemed...confused. They blinked once, then twice. But you hardly know me. Why would you tell me that's brave? They wrote down. You seem to be sensible....and I like your necklace. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Well you said talking doesn't come easy. But you're still trying aren't you?" She answered honestly. Hm. Sensible. Isabelle couldn't help but resist laughter with all of her might. "It appears that I've given a better first impression that I deserve." At the mention of the necklace, she looked down at it as if she had just remembered it was there. She held it for a moment as her expression faltered. "Thank you." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stared down at the table and let out a huff. Huh. Guess they were caught there. They knitted their eyebrow together before looking up Maybe. I don't know. I haven't talked to many people. But like you said. I'm trying. They tapped their pen. Its shiny... @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Exactly." She nodded with a smile, trying to avoid directly looking at the necklace herself. "Right. It's gold." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Gold. AU. Element 79 on the peridoic table. I like silver...and emralds. Jewelry is pretty to me. They wrote down. This place is...a ice cream parlor...right? I never really had sweets. Bad for my teeth as I was told. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle read the note carefully. humming in thought. "Jewelry is pretty, I can certainly agree with that." Upon reading about the ice cream, Isabelle gently pushed the cup of Juradin's ™️ ice cream towards Maki. "That is true to some extent, but it doesn't hurt to have from time to time. I haven't touched mine if you'd like to try it." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki looked at the ice cream and tilted their head slightly. They grabbed a marshmellow and squished it before taking a bite. ... Maki let out a tiny squeal of excitement. I was never allowed sweets. But marshmellows are super sweet. I like them. Chewy! Soft? Texture is nice. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Marshmellos do have quite the unique texture." Isabelle attacked the ice cream with her spoon, taking a bite. ... She was mad that it didn't taste horrible. It was actually quite delicious. "Many people aren't big on sweets, especially around their kids." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I have issues with certain textures. I don't know why. Sometimes slimey things...they're weird. Maki shuddered slightly, scowling. They stared at the ice cream now, almost nervously before they looked at the freezer where the other ice creams were. ...What other flavors... @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"I understand that." She hummed as she savored the flavor. "As for the flavors, I'm not entirely sure. I know one of them isn't made with milk.. and another is lemon flavored. Looking at some of the names at a glance doesn't tell you much. But they are in poor taste if you ask me-" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Lemon... Maki scribbled down. I never tried ice cream before really. What flavor...I like lemon flavors...I had some sucking candy when I was sick... They looked at the freezer again. What do you think? @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle hummed in thought for a bit. "I haven't gotten to taste them all yet so I can't give you a solid recommendation. This room did just open after all." She looked over at the machines and scanned them carefully. "I'd say get a cone of lemon swirl. Let me show you how to dispense it." She smiled and stood, walking over to the machines. Maki could go with her or just watch, up to them. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stayed seated for a few moments, then followed behind Isabelle tentatively. They grabbed a small cup and moved over to the machine, staring up at it before staring at Isabelle handing her the cup and they clasped their hands together patiently. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle took the cup, and also grabbed a cone. We shall see how this transpires. She moved towards the Lifebringer Lemon Swirl and dispensed the ice cream, filling the cup. Once she was done, she looked towards Maki. "I'll let you add whatever toppings you'd like." She took the cone and stuck it on one side of the cup, letting it sink into the ice cream slightly. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki watched Isabelle curiously before they moved to the topping bar. They looked around, staring at everything curiously. Fruit. They wanted some fruit! They looked at Isabelle and waved her over, pointing towards the fruit. Then they paused and brought their hand to their chest, moving it in a circular motion. Sorry. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle smiled. "No need to apologize." She kept the cup and scooped the fruits Maki chose into the cup. "Anything else?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki contemplated the question, staring at the rest of the topings. They pointed at the chocolate chips and then gave a small nod. That was good. Chocolate chips and fruit. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle obliged, and scooped some choccy chips into the cup. When she was done, she held out the cup for Maki to take. "All done! May you enjoy your first ice cream." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki took the cup carefully and scuttled over to the table where they were sitting before. They stared at the ice cream, eyeing it curiously before they took the spoon and took a bite. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle chuckled, also returning to the table and sitting down. Lowkey anticipating Maki's reaction. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

... Maki let out a small squeal of excitement as they flapped their hands. A few sparkles surrounded them as they smiled wide and began to dig in.

Its sweet! I like the lemon flavor. I get why I wasn't allowed ice cream haha! I'd probably eat a lot if I was allowed it.

Isabelle was a bit startled by the visible sparkles that just appeared. "Most likely. Although you will regret eating so much at once pretty quickly. The sugar goes straight to your head. And your bloodstream." She sighed. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Brain freeze, no? Maki asked as they took another bite. They stared upwards before they begin to scribbled again.

The sparkles are an illusion. I use my magic to give my mask emotions. You cannot see my face. I figured my mask expressing how I feel will help rather than a blank stare.

"Well yes, but that much sugar tends to hurt your stomach as well. It's a lot of dairy. Very cold dairy and sugar." "Ah." Isabelle went quiet at the mention of illusions. The last time she was aware of those... well Errol did not seem to have a pleasant experience from the sounds of it. She had an unpleasant experience remembering it. "I see. It is very helpful to see your expressions on the mask. I thought it would be rude to ask." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki gave a small nod in understand, lightly drumming their fingers against the table. They nodded once more before they tapped their mask. If you have questions, ask. While they can be rude better to get an anwser than nothing, no? They pondered with a tilt of their head. But I have been told my questions can be invasive. It is mere curiousity though. Isabelle hummed. "Well, I wasn't intending to ask anything too invasive I suppose. It really was just curiosity. You're actually not the first person I've met with a mask since I've been here." She admitted this pretty easily... Where was Cane anyhow? @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Cane. I've met them before. We...struggled to communicate. Maki frowned slightly.

I cannot speak his language nor write. See, with my illusions I can write in any language and have it be translated. If I write hello in English I can use my illusions to make it look like hello in let's say, French.

Maki took a bite of ice cream before they continued. However this comes with limits of course, if I don't know the language, I cannot do it. Does that make sense? @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Huh.." It was certainly interesting. "That would make sense. If you have control, then it would make sense you could only replicate what you know." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki nodded. That is correct. I assume you have powers. Seems like most people here do, after all." They twirled their pen. Am I right?` @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"You would be correct yes, although they're not very useful without the right tools." She sighed, crossing her arms as she leaned back in her seat. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Isabelle sighed. She looked around for a moment, hoping something in this room would help her. Something in this roooooom- Actually. Those doors are made of glass. "Hold on a moment." The wamen stood up and walked over to the door, appearing to almost paw at it for a moment. After that moment, however, Maki could see her disappear into it. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stared and watched her curiously, their eyes widening before they blinked in surprise. They took a bite of their ice cream, slowly scanning the room to try and locate Isabelle. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

It was about a minute or so before Isabelle reemerged from the door. In reality, she was looking around to see if anything could've been glossed over by Rakin but no. Another useless pocket dimension. She dusted herself off and rejoined Maki at the table. "All is is right now is a neat party trick. Not of much use to me really." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki watched along curiously and they smiled a bit. I see...how curious! I've always be interested in others powers but I know better than to pry. They hummed softly. Still, I think that's unique. Handy, too. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Only handy if there's somewhere to go. Or anything in there. Rakin accounted for both. Can't use a weapon stash without any weapons in it." Isabelle sighed, securing another spoonful of ice cream. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

With a flick of their wrist, Maki summoned a butterfly knife and spun it around with a small smile. I can create weapons. I think that can come in handy. They wrote down. But I think your power is fascinating. Seems nice to just go there and..be quiet..and calm. I'd like a place like that. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle sighed, masking a groan. "Trust me, it is far from quiet in there. Madison's was quieter... but you can't breathe in there." She looked down at the ice cream, her expression shifting into sadness. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I don't follow? Maki blinked in confusion. But I will not pry. They looked down at the table for a few moments before they offered a very awkward smile. I like the quiet. When it's too loud I use my illusions to make myself a pillow fort. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle shook it off, looking at Maki with a smile. "It's fine. Quiet is.... good. Only real upside to being stuck here. It's sweltering and we're all gonna die, but at least it's quiet. Not counting the hurricane of course.." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

My hair is getting quite a bit much sometimes. Maki admitted. They didn't even seem to mind the comment about death- or if they did, they didn't show it. It gets hard in the heat sometimes. But i can manage. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Well that much is pretty obvious." Isabelle grabbed a lock of her own now incredibly frizzy hair. She really needs to braid that... fuck it she's doing it now. She started to braid her hair. "I should've done this so much sooner." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki watched Isabelle carefully. They looked at their hair as they twirled their hair. May you braid my hair? Maki asked as they stared at the table.

I have a lot. As you can tell. If you do not want to, that is understandable. I tend to be sensitive when people touch me or my hair. But maybe...

Maki trailed off. They seemed conflicted and stopped writing as they awaited Isabelle's response. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Oh, of course I can. I haven't done it on someone else in a while but I can do that for you." Isabelle smiled. "I'll try my best to not make the process uncomfortable for you." After what felt like an eternity on Isabelle's part, she finally finished the braid. It was a simpler one, but it got the job done. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki nodded along slowly and twirled their pen, staring at their notebook intensely before they dropped their shoulders with a sigh. This was fine. It was fine. They could do this. Okay. Maki wrote. I will let you know if it gets too much at any point. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle thought it was better to do something simple. Luckily for Maki, she had experience with longer hair. As gently as she could, she went about separating the hair and readying the parts for the braid. Just to gauge Maki's feelings rn how is it so far. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki nodded along at Isabelle continued to braid their hair. They didn't seem to mind and only offered a small hum softly. They grabbed their notebook and began to write. Thank you. You're being gentle. I appreciate that. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Good, I'll try to keep this pace." Isabelle worked with efficiency, doing her best to be gentle. (we goin to the fight cap i can say she finishes in time.) @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Isabelle finishes up the braid, using one ribbon to tie the end. The other had been incorporated into one of the parts when Maki wasn't looking. Lovely. "Well I suppose our time is up. I'll be heading to the fight." Isabelle returned to her ice cream, smiling at Maki before raising her hand. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾
