(Maki moving from one thread to the next lol) Agustin was caught off before Moses could hear what he said, but thankfully, Moses had covered one of his ears before the lightning could strike. The transfer was a lot easier on Moses this time around, especially since he was expecting to be greeted by hot sweltering sun, but instead, dropped down in what seemed to be a store? A chill store, in fact. He tumbled onto his knee for a moment, having to steady himself from the teleportation, but he was relatively unharmed. His poofy thick winter wear was still a lot though, even in the building, so Moses quickly got to unzipping his jacket. He didn't quite notice anyone else around just yet... @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki jumped slightly as Moses appered in the ice cream parlor. They whipped their head around and froze for a few seconds before they smiled a bit and clapped their hands together. Moses! You are back! I am so glad! Maki wrote down frantically before they scurried on over to Moses, showing them the paper with a tiny smile. I didn't expect you to leave when you did! But- I made friends. When...you were gone. Like you told me to do. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Oh my god—" Moses jumped slightly when Maki suddenly appeared, half way through unzipping his jacket. "M-Maki? Oh, I'm sorry, you just startled me a bit. I'm, uh.." He glanced down at himself for a moment before reading what they had wrote. "I'm glad to see you're okay. I didn't think I would leave either but—Yeah. I'm back. It's good to see you. You made friends? I'm proud of you. Who are they?" He smiled as he got back to taking off his coat. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Lykos, Isabelle, and Nora. They wrote proudly. Isabelle did my hair. They did a small spin as they showed off their braided hair. I figured....I should take a big step. Let someone help me with my hair. They paused, then beamed at the idea of Moses being proud of them. You are? @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses read the names as he tied his jacket around his waist and started working on his gloves. "Oh, you've met Isabelle and Nora? That's great, kid. I don't know who Lykos is, but hey, a friend is a friend," he smiled. "And your hair! It's adorable. Isabelle did a good job on it. It suits you a lot," Moses chuckled as Maki spun. "Mhm. I am. I know how difficult it is for you to meet new people, so I'm proud you got not one, not two, but three friends now. That's amazing, kiddo." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

A wolf. Wolf doctor. Maki shrugged. But yes. Isabelle and Nora. They are very kind. I played castles with Nora. Maki twirled their pen around before they pointed it at Moses.

Yes! Three. I am trying to meet more. I offered fruit to people and that helped. I will continue to do that. Offer fruit. It seems to work. But when you left...I will not lie. I was scared.

"A wolf doctor..? How does a wolf get a medical degree—You know what, never mind. It's probably possible in some universe where dogs take over the world," Moses said with a wave of his hand. He chuckled a little at Maki's mention of handing out fruit, but his smile faded a bit as he read the last of what they wrote. "Oh.. I'm sorry kid. I didn't mean to suddenly leave like that. I'm back now. Hopefully I don't get taken again. It'll be okay," he reassured Maki. "Do you want a hug?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I don't know how a wolf gets a medical degree you'd have to ask them. Maki shrugged once more. I like dogs. What dogs would we be in a alternative universe I wonder. "Well, lucky for you, I have two dogs waiting at home. I'm sure you'll love them," Moses chuckled as he stepped towards Maki. He wrapped them in a warm hug, nice and secure. "It's going to be alright, kiddo. If you get taken to the other side, try to find an amphibian man named Agustin. He's a bit awkward, but a nice guy. Yes, I like them. They're very cute. Maki wrote down as they leaned their head against Moses for a few moments. They dropped their shoulders, relaxing into the hold. Augustin. I'll keep note of it. Moses hugged Maki for a good few moments, giving them a gentle squeeze before letting them go. "Mhm. He's a pretty big guy too. He's wearing the exact same clothes I'm wearing right now," Moses said as he gestured to the big coat and pants he was wearing. "Where is this, by the way? I don't remember there being a building on this side that was so structurally sound.." He hummed as he glanced around. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki made a small hum of acknowledgement. They sniffled slightly and turned away from Moses, stepping away as they removed their mask, wiping at their face with their hands. After a few seconds, Maki slipped the mask back on and turned to Moses, writing. New place. Ice cream parlor. I tried ice cream for the first time. I liked it. Moses gave Maki a sympathetic smile as they turned away, knowing they probably needed a moment. He didn't look when they took off their mask and instead, turned towards the ice cream parlor itself. He only turned back to Maki when he heard them writing. "Ice cream, huh..? Strange, but I see. I'm glad you liked it. It's pretty good, huh? There was a food buffet on the other side, so I guess this place was made in parallel to that.." Moses hummed as he walked over to the different scoops available. "Interesting flavors they got here.." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I like the lemon flavor. Maki wandered over. But now they have a new flavor. Do you want to have ice cream with me, Moses? They asked. They have a ton of toppings too and I got fruit toppings for mine. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses looked over the ice cream and the flavor descriptions, humming quietly. He didn't really want ice cream right now, but he thought it might make Maki happy if he ate some with them. "Sure. I guess I'll have some of this... Oni and Oat milk one," Moses said as he got a small bowl and put a single scoop into it. He also put a couple of strawberries in it. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

YIPPEE! A robotic voice said as Maki held up a talk-box. tbh

Maki waved it away before they summoned their notebook back and wandered over to join Moses, getting some Double cream delight. Strawberry. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses blinked as he heard the talk-box. "Yippee," he repeated with a nod, smiling a bit. "I'm more of a vanilla fan, but since there isn't really any, I'll just stick with plain ol' chocolate," Moses commented. "Kinda nice to have such a cool place in a tropical hot spot. Maki waved their hands in the air. YIPPEE indeed. I liked the lemon. It was super sweet and sour. Tasty. They added a few marshmallows to the ice cream. Its very nice to have a cooler spot...so if it gets too hot we have here to sit. And eat. Yes! @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"I'm glad you like it so much. When we get out, you should try sherbert and Italian ice. It's a little more ice-like in texture, but it's refreshing and cold like ice cream," Moses smiled as he started eating his ice cream. "Do you have any favorite foods, kiddo?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Interesting. I admit sometimes textures they're....ugh. Maki shuddered. They're bad. I don't like them. Slime is the WORST texture. Maki scowled at the thought. ...I like veggies. I like asparagus. And fruits. Apple. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses read over Maki's note with a small chuckle. "Slime? What exactly are you eating that is slimy, kiddo?" He curiously asked. "And really? Vegetables? You're the complete opposite of Viktor.. He still fights me about eating carrots," he faintly laughed. "Well, lucky for you, I like to add lots and lots of veggies to my cooking. Chopped liver. Maki's scowled deepened. I hate it. Its the worst texture. And I don't like touching it. Slime. Gross. Icky. They shuddered slightly. ....I think. I will. Come around. Maki wrote down. ....And stay with you. If you'd have me. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Ah, I see. I suppose it can be slimy, yeah," Moses nodded as he continued to eat his ice cream. Though, his smile warmed as he read Maki's next note. "Of course, kiddo. You're welcomed anytime," he reassured them. "Can I ruffle your hair again?" Moses asked with a slightly teasing smile. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki bonked their head against Moses hand in response. Bonk! They clapped their hands together happily, a smile on their face. As long as you do not mess up the braid too much, yes. They replied. I like the braid Isabelle did and I do not want it to be ruined. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses happily pat Maki's head, making sure to be careful around the start of the braid point. "If you ever want me to help with your hair, I can always teach you some hairstyles. I can braid, believe it or not," he chuckled softly. "I think you talked about getting a haircut before. My offer to help you out with that still stands too." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I am thinking about it. Maki admitted. Perhaps..after my fight, or so. They frowned slightly at the thought before they cleared their thoughts with a shake of their head. Nevermind that. They wrote down. What other things do you know how to do with hair...? You said braid but what about a bun..? @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses visibly frowned at the mention of Maki's fight and his hand rested on their head for a moment. "..I think cutting your hair before then may be the better option if you want it," he commented before retracting his hand. "I can do a bun too, yeah. Ponytail, braid, bun, twin tails, pigtails, make a bow from your hair, etc. Someone I met during a parenting class taught me how to do all of that in case I had a kid who grew their hair out," he faintly chuckled. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

A bow? Maki asked curiously. I would like to see that, one day. My hair is certainly long enough. They looked at their hair, twirling a bit between their fingers. ...It drags...a bit. Can you...help me cut that...then? So it doesn't drag? They asked. I don't want it to get dirty...so. I...I think that is a start. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses nodded, his small smile returning as he finished his scoop of ice cream. "Mhm. Whenever you're ready, kid. I can help ya out," he replied. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Then let's do it. Maki nodded. Lkke I said. Only a little bit. My hair is important to me. They twirled a bit between their fingers. And I like it long. So only a few inches so it doesn't drag anymore. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He faintly chuckled and nodded. "Mhm, I'll make sure to just give it a nice trim. Here," Moses pulled a seat near the entrance of the parlor and gestured for Maki to sit there. "It'll be easier to toss the clippings outside here." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki watched Moses carefully before they followed behind him and took a seat on the chair. They dangled their legs slightly before they glanced up at Moses with a nod. If you say so. They wrote down. And thank you. I appreciate it. A lot. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"No problem, kiddo," he smiled warmly at Maki as he waited for them to settle down. In his hand, Moses created a pair of crystal scissors, small and eerily close to actual hair cutting scissors. "I did this a lot when I was in the army still. Don't have time to get to a barber? Just do it yourself," Moses mused as he undid Maki's braid and started parting it. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I forget you served sometimes. I can't help but be curious about your time there in the army but I know better than to pry.

Moses hummed a bit as he read Maki's note. He didn't reply right away, focusing more on their hair and where to start. It was only when he started to trim Maki's hair did he speak again. "I only joined the army because I had nothin' else going on for me then. Joined right out of high-school with my boyfriend at the time. We thought it'd be an easy few years, then we'd come right back home to be able to pursue other things in our life," Moses said, a small sad chuckle escaping his lips. "Oh, how stupid we were then. Don't ever join somethin' without knowing fully what it is, kid. Take it from your old man." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Your advice will be taken to heart in the future. I wish past me knew about that advice. They sighed softly before they gave a tiny nod.

I see. Straight out of high school then? You were my age then, I assume..or around. I was tutored privately. I never went to school.

Moses clipped Maki's hair in a gentle and precise pace. Looks like he wasn't lying when he said he's done this before. "I was eighteen, yes. I didn't do the greatest in school when I was a kid, to be honest. The army just provided a way for me and my boyfriend to sustain ourselves..." He elaborated. "You never went to school though..? Maybe if you want, you can enroll to a public school like my son. He's in the ninth grade right now. You'd probably be a senior.. but maybe we can talk to the school about letting you start as a junior." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I understand. Maki replied then, hummed in thought, thinking about what to say next.

Well, I did graduate. I was given a diploma. High School one. I just never went to a physical school. I was home schooled and everything.

He read over the note, pausing his cutting for a moment. "Oh, I see. That makes more sense now. Maybe you'll like to go to university then? It might be a bit overwhelming for you though.. we can discuss things more thoroughly later at home," Moses faintly smiled. He read the rest of their note before reassuming cutting. "Invo..?" Moses hummed, thinking. "What do you want to know about him? What I do know of him was when he was a kid still.. but even then, he was an interesting case." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I am interested in aerospace engineering. I love space. The stars. Astronomy too. :) Maki wrote. Also genetics is fascinating too.

I'm just curious about him as you said we were similar. Similar how? Similar why? All curiosity on my part but you don't need to indulge me, only if you want too.

"Wow.. those are some aspiring fields. If you want to pursue them, I'm happy to help support you through any education, kid. I didn't go to college, but it's important to me that my kids are educated. I'm glad you have that kind of head space already, Maki," Moses hummed. He continued to trim off the bottom of Maki's hair before glancing at what they wrote next. "Hm.. Well, I suppose I found you similar because you're both in a position I wish you weren't in," he started. "You're both so young.. you should be treated better. Invo... he struggled to communicate with people. He often had fits out of rage because he struggled to understand things. There would be times I had to pull him away from the group so I could calm him down. I knew how much he wanted companions, but when you're stuck in a war with only other grown adults accompanying you, there's not much you can connect with." Moses' eyes seemed to sadden. "He was raised to be a killer. He never had a choice in the matter. I feel you both have lost agency over your own lives.. it's not fair, and it's sad to see. That's all." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Was that a pun, Moses? Maki asked curiously. Already telling the dad jokes, I see. How clever. Maki smiled. ^_^. Anything in those is what I would like. Perhaps minor in one of them even. As Moses continued, Maki frowned a bit and dropped their shoulders. They seemed saddened by what Moses said, spinning their pen around before they wrote. That situation being here and my home situation I assume. They replied.

I can control my anger. But people have described me as rather emotionless due to my calm nature. I do hope he is better now, hopefully. Maybe he's happy out there. I can't tell.

(Experimentation TW and disregarding Experimentation) ....Perhaps I have. Maki paused.

I was often subjected to my own illusion and experimentation. Fascinating things they do when I am not subconsciously in control of them and how they are so realistic. Its no wonder why I struggle to tell the difference more often than not with reality. What's real or what's fake or is it all simply an illusion and I am experimentating on myself to see the results.

The clipping of hair stopped as Moses read Maki's next note. He read it with intent, his expression unreadable until the very end. He put his scissors down, stepped in front of Maki, then stepped down a knee to be closer to them. "And as you hope Invo is doing better, I want your future to be the same, Maki. Better. Better than going to an empty home with people who only use you for their own gain. Better than being isolated from the rest of the world. I promise to do everything I can to help. I want you to live a life you want," Moses earnestly said, looking straight at the 'eyes' of Maki's mask. "No more illusions. Only a real, safe home." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki stared down at Moses for a few moments, their eyes darting between Moses and elsewhere. They gripped onto their notebook, squeezing it tightly before. They contemplated on what to do next before they placed their notebook down in their lap before they leaned forward and pulled Moses into a hug. With a voice that was barely above a whisper, they spoke. "Okay." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

For a brief moment, Moses was surprised by Maki's hug--And then they also spoke. Wow. However, his expression quickly melted into a warm smile and he returned the hug with a comforting hold. "It's going to be alright, kiddo. I promise," Moses reassured them. "Your haircut is finished too, by the way," he added with a small chuckle. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki remained quiet as they continued to hug Moses. After a few minutes, they pulled away from the hug and looked at him for a few seconds. With a small nod, Maki moved their hair in front of them and stared down at it. It was still long, like they liked it but it didn't drag on the ground which was nice. They ran their hands through their hair before they smiled. "...I like it..." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He watched with a smile as Maki looked over their hair and dusted some loose strands off of his pants. "I'm glad. You look good, kid. I'm gonna toss out whatever hairs I can now, so why don't you finish up your ice cream while I do that?" He suggested to Maki as he got back up and started cleaning. "Maybe I should retire from the fire house and open my own barbershop," Moses joked. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki nodded and moved to grab their unfinished ice cream which was now definitely melted a bit. Though they didn't seem to mind as they took a bite. "...Thank you." They said before the summoned their notebook and began to write. Maybe so. I did not know you were a fireman now? @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses created some crystals to move the leftover hair strands out of the parlor before dissolving them. He put the chair back by a table as he read Maki's note. "Mhm. After I was discharged, I went into the police force, actually. I found out pretty quickly they were just as scummy as the people in the army though, so I got let go for similar reasons," Moses replied with a small shrug. "I don't have any real education, but with my son and ex then, I wanted to make sure I still made a good living for them. Enrolled in fighter fighting classes soon after, and I've been with my crew since." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

I see. Maki nodded and smiled slightly. I always respected firemen and heros like that.... They twirled their pen. I had a firefighter save me when I lost my parents. Then I was adopted by my current caretakers. I am glad to know you are still helping others which is nice. I thank you for that, truly, I do. Its respectable. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses looked pleasantly surprised when he read Maki's note. "Really? A fireman saved you..?" He asked. "What exactly do you mean by save..? You.. don't have to talk about it with me, but I am a bit curious to how you ended up with your adoptive caretakers in the first place." He sat down with Maki, sinking a bit into his seat. "...I'm only now helping people. I didn't before. Not in the army, not as a police man.. I wasn't good a person then. I'm doing my best to do better now." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki thought about what to write next, narrowing their eyes a bit in thought.

My house well. Burnt down. I was very little and lost inside and due to my fear and panic I manifested illusions. I almost died but someone broke through them and rescued me. I was too young to really remember. When people found out about my power they wanted to take me in as they had experience with children who had powers.

They explained. ....I am similar. I...did things I regret. My illuisons. But now I want to be better. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The older man hummed in thought as he read Maki's note, giving a small nod as he finished. "I see.. Well, I'm glad you were rescued. It must of been scary then. I'm sorry that happened, Maki," Moses gave his condolences. He assumed it was during then that Maki became an orphan. How sad. He then smiled, however. "We'll be better together, alright, kiddo? You got your old man here to help ya out now too," Moses softly chuckled. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

You aren't THAT old though. A beat. Are you? Maki asked raisng a eyebrow at Moses for a moment. They smiled a bit, dropping their shoulders as the sighed in relief. I do want to get better. Moses laughed. "I'm turning 41 in February. So, no, not that old," he mused. He then smiled down at Maki. "There's nothing to thank me for, kid. You're becoming a better person because you chose to. I'm just here to support ya along the way," Moses hummed. "Can I ruffle your hair again?" He asked with a fond smile. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

You may. Maki huffed with a playful roll of their eyes.

And even if there is nothing to thank you for...I will still thank you. It is not everyone that has you patience or kindness with someone like.....me. So I thank you.

Happily, Moses ruffled Maki's hair, chuckling. "What are ya talking about, kiddo? You're a pleasure to be around," he mused, smiling honestly down at them. "Do you want to go out and enjoy the sun a bit more? I'm probably gonna go take a look around the area before anything crazy can happen again." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

He couldn't help but laugh some more. "Really? I find those things about you rather endearing," Moses smiled. He then gave Maki a small pat on their back and nodded. "Alright then, kid. Be careful out there, alright? Actually..." Before Maki could leave, Moses gently took their hand and placed it into his. A small light shined between their hands as he created something. Removing his hand, Moses revealed a sharpened shaped crystal. It was a blade! "Now, usually, I don't let kids play with knives... But these are some special circumstances. If your illusions can't steer threats away, you have a little something to protect yourself with, okay? That doesn't mean going around stabbing people though, got it?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki watched Moses carefully and blinked in surprise when they looked down at their hands to see a knife. They examined it closely and twirled it around, poking the tip of it. Huh. Sharp. Maki smiled slightly and nodded along. Thank you. They wrote down as they slipped the knife into their pocket.

I will hold onto it and make sure its safe and to use it when needed. You do the same as well. I cannot give you anything physical but I want you to be safe. If need be...I can lend a hand with my illusions one day.

"Of course. I want to make sure you're safe. That's my main priority," Moses nodded. He looked over them once more, obviously a bit hesitant to let them go out on their own. He sighed before smiling.
