Riki decided to explore the forest later. The bonfire seemed inviting in the biting cold, and a likely place for people to gather. That meant more information and potential allies. A few people were here, indeed, but seemed to be engaged in conversations. Riki stepped near the fire and hekd his paws towards it, letting it warm him, and decided to wait a moment, before trying to join any conversations. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Exploring the outside was kinda boring when all there was was snow and ice. It reminded Kian of Kirsi when he first went to visit. He couldn't see a thing then, just like now, but in the midst of all the gray and wind, Kian headed towards a bright red light. It was warm and felt familiar in a way, so the boy was quickly drawn to it. When he got there, he saw there was already a small group lingering around. He supposed everyone else was drawn to the fire as well. Kian approached the fire with a smile and raised his hand up close to it for warmth. It was then he noticed someone quite interesting. A man.. No, more so a wolf-like creature standing a few feet away from Kian caught his eye. His curiosity pushed Kian to approach closer with a smile. "Hello there!" Kian waved. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's ear flicked towards Kian before he turned his head to see the one who greeted him. The fox' eyes were first alert, but his face quickly lit up with a friendly smile. "Well, hello!" Riki turned to lightly bow to the boy. His tails waved and squirmed harmoniously, but he made sure they didn't get too close to the fire. "Captain Riki Icefang, at your service. Who might I have the honor to be talking with?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian approached with a warm smile and he couldn't help his curiosity. The boy let out a small awed gasp when he saw Riki up close. "Woah.. Y-You look so cool, Mr. Icefang!" Kian said with bright eyes, both mazed and shock that this wolf-man was talking to him. Did wolves talk in some universes?? Kian wasn't sure, but he was impressed either way. The prince then slightly bowed as well, matching Riki. "I'm Kian Ravina von Valois! T-The honor is all mine, Mr. Icefang. Uhm—W-What excuse my ignorance, but what sort of creature are you? I've never met someone as majestic as you are.." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's smile widened and his eyes sparked with mirth at Kian's enthusiasm, and his tails wagged slightly. He tilted his head subtly and nodded with raised brows in acknowledgement when the boy introduced himself. A name that could belong to a nobleman. He chuckles warmly and couldn't help smiling wider. "Oh, no harm done, I suppose most people here are not familiar with my kind. I am a Ninetales, an ice fox." He wiggled his tails individually to help Kian count them if he wanted to. "And you are too kind, but I appreciate your admiration." He chuckled with a small grin. "May I ask your species in turn? You look akin to the person I met in the kitchen, Zahara, but I doubt you are the same species." Riki ventured. An ice fox. Ohhh. Not wolf. Kian's bright expression didn't falter, if anything, grew more explosive. "Ninetails.. N-No, I have never met anyone like you before, but you are simply beautiful, Mr. Icefang," Kian said as he gazed over the fox's elegant features. The slender snout, the soft looking mane and tails.. what a pretty creature indeed. "O-Oh, I'm a human, Mr. Icefang. Not nearly as cool as you are, but uh. Where I'm from, the world is inhabited by mostly humans," Kian explained. "Uhm.. Miss Zahara is an amphib, from what I understand. Some s-sort of frog, I believe. Her species allows her to change between a more humanoid appearance and her creature appearance." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki burst into a lighthearted laughter and a radiant smile, feeling warm, amused and delighted. He might have advanced in years, he had not become immune to flattery. He looked at Kian with a smile and a playful spark in his eyes, regardless of his yet remaining refined and polite composure. "Why, thank you kindly. It warms an old man's heart to hear I have not yest completely lost my charms", he chuckled. "It means even more coming from a dashing youngster as yourself." "Ah, so you are a human. I have heard of your kind some, but had yet to meet one. It does sound like you are plentiful indeed. And yes, miss Zahara did tell me about the different forms her species can take." Riki nodded. "It is nice to meet you Kian Von Valois, though I wish it was in more pleasant circumstances", Riki gestured vaguely around the two. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian bashfully rubbed the back of his neck and smiled up at the fox. "O-Oh.. I'm nothing much compared to you, Mr. Icefang, but thank you.. Plus, you don't look old at all! You're quite dashing! You don't look a day over 30!" He beamed. Kian was quite the admirer. "A-And just Kian is fine, Mr. Icefang. I don't go by my full name and title very often anymore.." Kian chuckled awkwardly. "But yes.. It is nice to meet you regardless, Mr. Icefang. Uhm.. D-Do you have any powers since you're here?" He asked curiously. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki laughed again, shaking his head. "Ah, you are dangerously inflating my ego, young man. But I appreciate your kind words. Forgive me for asking, but how old are you? I am not familiar with your species, of course, but you look very young to me." "Hmm, I see. If you'd like, you may also just call me Riki, if you would like. I am not too strict with how people should address me", he smiled. "Powers?" Riki tilted his head. "Ah... might powers be the common trait that we all share? That might explain why we specifically were 'invited'... Yes, I do have stronger elemental magic than most. My powers are called 'Fairy Light'. What about you, Kian?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Well, if Kian was to give the technical answer, he was over two-hundred years old. But he assumed Riki was interested in his physcial age. "O-Oh, uhm. I'm eighteen, Mr. Icefang. That's the starting of young adult for most humans," Kian replied. "W-Well, technically, I'm still a teenager at this age, b-but I'm basically an adult-" He added. "And uhm.. I feel rather r-rude not being formal and respectful to an elder, Mr. Icefang. My mother always told me I should be so," the boy elaborated with a faint, but polite smile. "And magic..? Wow. That's so cool, Mr. Icefang. What sort of things can you do with your Fairy light??" "O-Oh, and as for myself... it's a bit complicated. I rather not discuss it." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki frowned slightly, both worried, and angry. "I see... you are very young indeed, Kian, this really is not a suitable place for someone barely on the border of adulthood", he said with a more serious tone. Then he sighed, his expression softening to more of a compassionate worry. "Oh, don't worry, I was like that at your age. You may address me however you like." A small smile found its way on Riki's face again. "I can do all sorts of things that one can do with Fairy-type magic", the fox replied vaguely. He held out his hand, and light pink, brightly glowing blobs of light started emerging from his palm like the goop in lava lamps. They rose in the air, spreading wider and hovering higher, until the air around the fox and the boy was sparkling with marble-sized orbs of light, like pale pink fireflies. "I see. Oh if Riki only knew. "I'm n-not that young, Mr. Icefang, but I appreciate the concern," he replied with an awkward smile. "H-How old exactly are you, Mr. Icefang?—A-As long as that's not rude of me to ask-" Kian quickly added at the end. Though, he shut up almost instantly when Riki showed off his powers. His eyes sparkled as he watched the orbs of light dance around them and a wide smile spread on his lips. "Wow..! Your power is so pretty, Mr. Icefang! It suits you perfectly," Kian mused. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki smiled at Kian gently, but with a hint of that patronizing look that said "sure you aren't." "Of course", he said aloud. The fox tails waved happily, and he granted Kian a pleased smile. "Why, you are just full of compliments, aren't you?" Riki chuckled. "Thank you. I have had time to practice. Going back to your question, I believe I will be turning 51 this year", he said, ignoring the possibility his life might end in this place. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian knew that old patronizing look quite well, but he didn't comment on it. He probably deserve a bit of that kind of attitude from people. He smiled none the less, but hearing Riki's age, Kian genuinely looked stunned. "F-Fifty-one?!" He gaped. The boy blinked as he looked up at Riki. He wasn't quite sure how foxes were supposed to age, but he for sure knew Riki did not look it. "W-Wow... I hope I look as well as you do when I am t-that old, Mr. Icefang." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki couldn't help but laugh in delight again. His tails swished, slapping and poking some of the will-o-wisps off-course and making them speed away. "Ah, Kian, you flatter me, bless your sweet soul", he chuckled. "Well, eating plenty of healthy berries, and taking good care of your physique and fur goes a long way... though, you don't have much fur to worry about", he tilted his head, eyeing Kian's furless face with a kind smile. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian nodded, taking Riki's advice quite seriously. "R-Right. Healthy berries, and taking care of myself. I-I can do that," said the boy who was magically frozen at 18. "I might not have fur, but I have hair! C-Curly hair can be difficult to take care of, especially if you're traveling a lot. B-But I think I have my routine down." After all, no matter how many times Kian washed his hair, it'd stay the same always. "D-Do you have a family back in your world, Mr. Icefang..? You're old enough to be a grandpa, right?" Kian then curiously inquired. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki nodded supportively. "Ah, do you travel a lot, then?" the fox asked. At Kian's question, Riki's face darkened. He looked away, into the fire. Its orange glow danced on his fur, deepening the shadows, and it was hard to read the stern expression on Riki's face. He was quiet for a while, before replying, his voice quieter and missing the confidence it had held just a moment ago. "Yes. I live with my beloved, and we have two little ones. My oldest, Ria, is in her mid-twenties now, but she doesn't have her own family yet." After speaking, Riki fell quiet again, staring into the flames with a distant gaze. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"I-I've been traveling for a while now.. Been to a lot of different places," Kian nodded with a small smile. Some of those places included alternate dimensions. Though, it was obvious even to Kian that Riki's mood shifted when asked about his family. It was already freezing outside, but Kian felt like the temperature around them dropped even more. He was quiet as he listened to Riki and Kian knew better than to try and pry too much. Instead, he gave the man a small pat on his arm. "W-We'll figure out a way for you to get back to them, Mr. Icefang.. I'm s-sure they're worried about you too. They sound like lovely people.." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's ears shifted back slightly, and his eyes narrowed. He had trouble keeping his expression neutral, and his mouth twisted into a tight pout as his eyebrows knitted together. "...I know they are..." he said in a low voice, hardly louder than a whisper. He drew in a sharp breath, blinked rapidly, and for a while glanced around restlessly, anxiety, and fear in his eyes, before he magaged to regain his composure, and hide it all inside. Riki cleared his throat, and flashed a small smile to Kian, before turning away, towards the horizon where the sky was slowly becoming paler. "Thank you, Kian. We will. A part of Kian wanted to give Riki a hug when he saw how worried the fox became. He recognized that look of fear and anxiety, even if the older man tried his best to hide it. To save Riki that embarrassment however, Kian remained standing by his side and again, offered Riki a small pat on his arm. "M-Mhm.. W-We will," he repeated with a small, worried smile. "W-What uhm.. what did you do back home, Mr. Icefang? Were you a model of some sort?" Kian asked, redirecting the conversation to something brighter. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki let out a soft, quiet chuckle, and glanced at Kian gratefully. "Not quite, but perhaps I could consider a change of career if you think I have what it takes?" He smirked. "But currently I work as a guard in the imperial palace of Ninjago." Riki tilted his head, looking at Kian a bit closer. He had thought the boy might be nervous and thus stuttering, but now he considered there might be another reason. "Are you cold?" the fox asked. To him, the weather had started feeling almost pleasant and warm once the wind had let up some. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The boy gave Riki an interested look. Ninjago? So that place existed in Riki's world too? The strange overlap and changing of details made Kian curious. "I-I think you'd be a great model, Mr. Icefang! But a guard at a palace is just as cool! A-Are you a knight in a way?" Kian asked with bright eyes and a wide smile. Though, at Riki's question, Kian shook his head. "O-Oh, not particularly. I mean, it is cold, but being next to the fire is helping. You probably feel less cold thanks to your fur, right, Mr. Icefang?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

RIki smiled warmly and gently at Kian's excitement. "We aren't called knights, but imperial guards, but I suppose it is similar position as to that of a knight. I used to serve in the Palace of Light, in my original home country, Empire of the Nine Sisters, but I moved to Ninjago to be able to marry my loved one. I'm grateful for the Imperial family for accepting me among their ranks, despite of everything. I have trained to be a palace guard since I was a boy, so it is pretty much all I am good at." Riki chuckled softly. "Indeed, my fur, but also my magic helps me braving cold. Here, allow me to shield you from the wind." He extended his tails around Kian's back, wrapping them partially around the boy loosely, but enough that he was covered in a fluffy, warm blanket of tails that dampened the edge of the wind. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian listened to Riki's story with great intrigue. Growing up surrounded by the knighthood, Kian admired knights and guards greatly. Perhaps it was just his boyish ways, but Kian thought those who protected people were just the coolest. "T-That's amazing, Mr. Icefang! I'm a bit of a knight enthusiast myself, so it's cool to hear you come from a similar background," he replied with a bright smile. When Riki curled his tails around him, Kian immediately leaned into the fluffy warmth. It was like one big blanket to him. "T-Thank you, Mr. Icefang. You're so soft and warm," Kian giggled. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki chuckled happily, and smiled curiously. "Is that so? Were you also born into a family of law-enforcers?" "Heh, I am glad I can help" he smiled warmly. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian nodded eagerly. "Mhm! My family is full of knights! I'm—W-Well, not fully a knight yet, but I'm almost there! My mother and uncle were the best knights around. I want to be like them," Kian beamed. "D-Do you have any advice on how I could be a good guard, Mr. Icefang?" @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Really? That's wonderful", Riki replied curiously. "I assume you have already been trained in combat and knight code. I am not sure what you already know and what I could still teach you. Hmm. But, something I would tell my 18-year-old self, would be that protecting and taking care of others is admirable, and wanting to become the best at all costs can seem to be right and prizeworthy... but you should not neglect yourself. Make sure to get enough rest, both sleep and free time with friends, eat well and get plenty of protein and vitamins in your diet. You are not a slave, nor a robot, you cannot reach your peak potential if you don't take care of yourself first", the fox instructed. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian listened to Riki like he was the boy's instructor. It had been years since his possible indoctrination into the knighthood, but Kian still held onto that boyish dream of his. Any day now, Kian would finally be able to become a knight just like the rest of his family. "Mhm. I-I definitely agree with all of that, Mr. Icefang. A lot of knights tend to overwork themselves. I'll be good to not," Kian nodded with a confident smile. "D-Do you ever think there was anything you regret doing when you were training to be a guard, Mr. Icefang? I-I feel like there are things I'm confident in, but m-maybe I'm just being optimistic." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Hmm, well, obsessing over perfection and stressing over success sure was highly unnecessary, and came at the loss of a lot of experiences and times I could have spent enjoying my youth. But another thing I regret is letting myself be so blinded by my loyalty and devotion to my career and my higher-ups... I know it's a hard thing to try and explain to a knight-in training - being a soldier means you are expected to heed orders without a question - but if you believe your higher-ups can do no wrong, if you refuse to see their flaws... then you might end up causing more harm than good. It is important to keep an open mind, and be ready to consider other possibilities, than what you have been taught. Listen to your heart, seek for the truth, and always choose what you yourself deem is right." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Growing up, Kian saw devotion and loyalty as the norm to being a knight. It was an honor being able to protect your home and loved ones--That's why the knighthood was held in such high regard back home, but hearing Riki discuss it.. It felt quite foreign to the boy. He trusted the tenured knights. His mother, his uncle, his sisters, his cousins, and friends. Kian trusted them more than anyone. Perhaps he was lucky to have such blind faith in them. It sounded like Riki's situation may of been different to his in that regard. Though, Kian did agree in some regard with Riki. People had flaws, and it was good to be smart in making decisions for yourself. "I-I understand, Mr. Icefang. Thank you for your insight. It's.. nice to hear that you still seem comfortable in your position despite any issues you may of had," Kian replied with a grateful smile. "I wonder i-if I will be a good knight. Riki hummed, watching the sun's glow slowly strengthening in the horizon, a wistful smile on his lips. "Well, I left my home country, did I not?" he simply replied. He turned to Kian with a gentle, and a little amused smile on his lips. Those were familiar worries to him, though they now felt so distant and meaningless. "Of course you will. I can tell. You will be one of the best. Just believe in yourself." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian's smile widened and he nodded once again. "T-Thank you, Mr. Icefang. I really hope so... I sometimes feel like I'll n-never be as good as they all are, but I'm trying my best to focus on my own growth rather than compare myself to them," he said with a determined look. A beat of silence passed before Kian's expression returned to his usual shy self. "..Though, h-have you ever thought about being something else than a guard, Mr. Icefang?" "It is tough to live in the shadow of the legacies of your family, but you have the right attitude", Riki nodded encouragingly. At Kian's question, Riki hummed, and looked at the horizon in thought again. "Well, like I said, as a youth, I was obsessed with the idea of becoming the best palace guard there was, to follow in my father's footsteps. I believed it was the only way I would be loved and accepted by my family. I never thought I could be anything else. "When I moved to Ninjago, I was ready to accept any job I could get, since I believed it would be easier for me to find a job than it would be for my partner. I was considering applying to the police forces, the army, or even just retail, as long as I could provide to my partner and I. I was a little surprised I was accepted into the Imperial Guard, but very grateful. I think in my case it was always more about what I can do, more than it was about what I want to do. I spent my whole life training to be a guard, so I have little skills for other things." He paused, and turned to look at Kian. "Though, perhaps once I retire I might try and see if the model industry accepts an old dog like me, hm?" He grinned. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge (edited)

Again, Kian listened to Riki closely. He was keenly aware that he was asking Riki a lot of questions, but Kian enjoyed hearing the advice and words from the older man. It felt reassuring in a way. Or perhaps, it made Kian feel like he was back home. Either way, he was grateful for Riki's time. "I see.. W-Well, I think you would make a great model, so I believe you could do it, Mr. Icefang!" Kian beamed. The boy was in a similar boat as Riki. Born and growing up in a family like theirs, there's no room for thinking about anything else. Even now, Kian still dreamed of being a knight, despite quite literally everything. "I hope you can get back to your post soon.. I-It can be difficult to replace someone with such experience as your own." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Heh, thank you. I think my spouse would like to see me modeling, haha..." Riki shook his head with a absentminded smile and let out a sighing chuckle. Then he looked at Kian again. "Oh, indeed. Although, I am on a leave currently. It will only last for a few days, though. What about you? Is there somewhere you should be right now? Kian's smile faltered at Riki's question. Yeah, there was somewhere he had to be, but not in the way the fox was thinking. "I-I should be okay being away for a while. I don't necessarily uhm.. w-want to be away, but yeah. My family... They trust me in being away. It'll be okay." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Hmm", Riki eyed the boy gently but attentively. He could sense there was something Kian didn't want to talk about. He held his tails a little closer to Kian's back, in a way he hoped was comforting. "Yes, you did say you travel a lot. Where were you traveling before you were brought here, if I may ask?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The soft fur was a nice familiar feeling to Kian. It reminded him of his friends back home. He hoped Asra and Cansu were okay. It had been a few years since he last saw them, after all. Kian instinctively nuzzled a bit of Riki's fur and smiled a bit. "I was in Africa b-before we were taken here. Uhm.. I was trying to find someone, but I was staying with this nice woman who offered me some shelter," Kian explained. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I hope you can go back to continue your search soon", Riki nodded. "Was it nice in Africa?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"I-I hope so too.. I was really close to my goal there. I don't know if the person I'm looking for will still be there when I get back. It t-took me years just to track him there," Kian sighed. Though, he did smile a bit more at Riki's question. "It was the complete opposite of here. It was nice and warm all the time, almost too warm. It was beautiful in the morning, a-and lots of sand and clay. The people were wary of me first, b-but were very hospitable and kind shortly after." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Hmmh, that is unfortunate", Riki frowned, but smiled upon hearing Kian's description of the place he travelled to. "That does sound interesting. I am not too familiar with hotter climates, though Ninjago has much milder climate than the Empire", Riki nodded. Then, he looked around the bonfire and at the various people gathered around. It might be a good idea to ask what Kian had come to know about this place and the people here. "Have you talked with many of the others here, Kian?" Riki inquired. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"I-I wish I could of visited more of the cities there. I hear they are quite fun this time of year," Kian replied with a small sigh, yet still smiled. "B-But I have to focus on my mission for now. Maybe there will be time for fun later.." Kian gave Riki a curious look and glanced around just like the fox. "O-Oh, I've talked to some. I met uhm.. my uncle, another nice woman named Jymaiyri and her baby, Minvera, a woman named Madison.. a-and Mr. Sovran and now you, Mr. Icefang." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Mhm, I agree. If you were close to your goal already, perhaps you will have time for sightseeing soon", Riki smiled supportively. "Your uncle is here? That's quite the coincidence, don't you think? And, a baby...?" Riki frowned. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck and nodded, his smile lopsided. "Y-Yeah.. I also thought it was strange, a-and almost impossible, but seeing my uncle again was nice," he replied. "A-And yes, a baby.. She's so small. I was r-really worried about her and Ms. Jymaiyri.." Kian mused with a small frown. "I can't imagine being here w-with a baby to take care of.. I've babysat my nieces and nephews before, but that's probably nothing compared to this.." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki's ears turned back, and his brows furrowed, though his eyes stayed wide and outraged. "A married man with a family and children, alright, a teenager who is barely an adult, fine, but a mother and an infant child?" Riki's neck fur stood on end and his tails fluffed up even further. "These people have no heart, nor brain. How is a baby going to fight?! What purpose does that possibly serve?!" Riki snapped, and whipped his head around to stare at the slowly paling sky, taking a sharp breath and huffing a few times to calm down, even though as he thought about the situation, he only became angrier. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The boy cringed upon himself as Riki raised his voice. He agreed with Riki's sentiment and anger, but at the moment, it felt like that energy was directed towards him. Kian no longer held Riki's fur, instead pulling his cape over himself in a protective manner. "..I-I'm sorry, Mr. Icefang. I-I understand, but y-you should probably lower your voice.." @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Riki closed his eyes and took a long breath, held it, and sighed. He shook his head, took another deep breath and rubbed his face. "Yes, I apologize..." he murmured. His fur didn't sleek, but when he looked back at Kian, his eyes were worried and soft. "Oh, I didn't mean to yell at you, Kian. This all... it is just really rubbing me the wrong way. I can hardly hold still, when I would rather run and claw at something." He sighed again, and shook his head. "I'm sorry, I should not let my feelings get the better of me." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian gripped onto his cape and gave Riki a subtle nod. He knew the fox wasn't upset with him, but it still made Kian tense. "I-I know.. It's okay, Mr. Icefang. Uhm.. There are a lot of trees and stuff near by if you need to let out s-some energy. I know s-some people need a more physical outlet sometimes.." Kian commented. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Hm." Riki looked around. "We probably need a lot firewood here, yes? Perhaps chopping some would indeed do me good." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He smiled faintly at that and nodded. "T-That would be really nice, yeah. Uhm.. I-I should let you get to it then, Mr. Icefang. I'll just get in your way," Kian said and took a small step back.
