Jymaiyri brought Nora out to a clear patch of snow, not too far from the barracks. "This seems like a good enough spot." She hummed. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora followed along, shivering a bit. “eee.. its.. its rreally c-cold… um… wh-what do.. we do now?” She clearly wasn’t used to these temperatures. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Watch this." Jymaiyri crouched down in the snow, holding her hands out as if warming them by an invisible fire. From the space beneath her hands sprouted a cranberry bush, growing rapidly as Jymaiyri pulled her hands up, til tiny red berries sprouted amongst its leaves. "Hah," Jymaiyri panted from the effort as the bush reached maturity. "Pretty good, if I say so myself." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora stood there staring, eyes wide with wonder. “Wow…. Oh, wow!!! That’s- that’s so c-cool..!! Wh- what.. are those..?!” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Cranberries! They're pretty hardy, so they should survive this weather, at least for a bit. They're not the sweetest, but they're pretty tasty, 'least when they're cooked." Jymaiyri picked a few off the bush, and showed them to Nora. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“Oh.. mm… I still.. want one. Um.. thank you!!” She bit off a little bit of the berry, then immediately scrunched up her face. “Mlehhh..” She stuck out her tongue and frowned. “..is it.. um.. better cooked..? Not.. blehhh.. b-bitter..” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

"Yeah, they're much better cooked. Especially if you add in some sugar- which, we might have." Jymaiyri said. "I can grow some more berries, too, that taste better raw. How do some cloudberries sound?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

The frown immediately disappeared at that. “Cl-cloud.. berries?!! Eeee! Um- are- are they.. they’re sweet??” Girl really likes fruit! @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Yeah, they're pretty sweet! They kinda taste like raspberries." Jymaiyri nodded, and crouched down by another patch of snow. The plant she grew this time was smaller, but the orange berries on its leaves made it easy to spot. "Ta-dah!" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

She rocks on her heels, very excited. “Eeee!! The, um- they look.. pretty!!” Nora picked one off and ate it, smiling. It wasn’t as sweet as mango, but it reminded her of the strawberries. “Eehee.. it’s um, it’s.. really yummy. Hee..” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺 (edited)

"I'm glad you like it!" Jymaiyri hummed. "I'm gonna grow some arctic blueberries too, and maybe some raspberries. How's that sound?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora probably hasn’t smiled this much in all her life. She’s absolutely beaming at getting more fruit. “Eeehee, yay!! Rassp-berry heehee..” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"More berries coming right up." Jymaiyri said, and grew two more small plants- one with round, indigo-colored artic blueberries, and the other with bright red arctic raspberries. She picked one of each and offered them to Nora. "Wanna try?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“Mhm!” She tried the blueberries first. “Mm.. it’s.. hm, not.. as sweet, but… I like it. Hee..” She made a bit of a face at the raspberries. “Mm? There’s.. hard.. thhings.. in it.” It did taste pretty good though. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Yeah, the little part in the middle is called a 'torus'. You can eat it, it's fine. The good part is called the drupelets." Jymaiyri explained. "But that's all fancy botany terms. Do you like 'em?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“Mm.. it’s….. um.. weird.. but it’s yummy! Mm.. I like.. the blueberries. Hee.” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"You can have some more, if you like." Jymaiyri offered. "I'm gonna grow more of these plants, so we have more berries." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“Mm, okay!!” Girl thriving with her fruit! @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri quickly got to work growing more of the same plants as before, in nice neat rows. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

"I can grow the plants all on my own- but if you want to start harvesting the berries, that's be a big help." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“Mm, okay!! Um….. ooh, I can..” She makes a little pouch with her shirt and starts picking the berries, eating them as she goes. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Once Jymaiyri had finished growing the bushes, she joined Nora in harvesting them, putting most in her pockets, though she gave Minerva a few (after squishing them up a bit first). @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora smiled and showed off her collection. “Um, are.. these good?” @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Looks good!" Jymaiyri nodded. "We can take all these to the kitchen, now." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

"Let's head there, then," Jymaiyri hummed and led Nora over to another building... @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

.... And ZAP! Aldreda landed perfectly on her feet... On top of the berry bushes. "Shit- Urgh it is cold here-!" Aldreda cursed and lit a fire at her feet. As the fire enveloped a good portion of the bushes, the temperature did gradually rise. "Ah. That's better... Now if I can't just light myself a path over to one of those buildings.." @Shae | Ko

Ko was wandering, again not much else to do except that and think. And she'd rather not think considering she just watched Andre, nope, not thinking about it. It seemed her wandering had helped a little as she came upon the berry fields. At least now she knew there was some manner of food, picking a few as she walked along until she noticed someone else, and the fire that surrounded them. "Are you alright?" she asked, she assumed so if only for the person's lack of panic but it never hurt to ask, "do you need any help?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Oh, never been better. I love the fire biting at my legs!" Aldreda chuckled, beginning to walk through the field, leaving a trail of carnage behind her. "It's just a bit nippy out here, ya know dearie? How are you faring?" @Shae | Ko

"I suppose so, and I'm doing alright all things considered. I'm Ko by the way" Ko said politely, taking care to avoid the fire. Glancing at a few of the already burning bushes before waging forward, "would you be able to avoid burning anymore bushes perhaps? "Ko, hm? Nice name! I'm Aldreda, uncrowned queen of Avis or whateva." She chuckled, pausing in her fiery path. "Oh sure, if you could be a dearie and get me some other means of keeping myself warm, I would love to do that." @Shae | Ko

"Would you like to borrow my sweater? That's about all I have at the moment to help you. Outside of the bonfire, the torches lining some paths and a few blankets in the barracks there isn't much here in the way of keeping warm," Ko admitted, quickly turning a few of the unburned berries into mist that she let collect at her side, "you came from the other side right?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Oh girl, I would just burn up your cute little sweater! I dont't wanna do that to ya." She chuckled. "Bring me some torches and I should be fine. And yep, came right on over from the hot side to here! It's much nicer out there, but I gotta say this reminds me a bit more of home!" @Shae | Ko

"If you're sure," Ko spoke, "the weather does sound preferable over there. But outside of the weather and limited food it isn't too bad over here." Doing some mental calculations as she thought about which torches would be quickest to grab but as far as she knew they were all a bit away. Looking over she grabbed some of the branches off an already ruined bush, too thin on their own but with some force she had them into mist. Pushing the molecules and fibers closer together before turning them back. Leaving herself with a thicker branch in a crude torch shape that she held out. "It might take a minute to grab one of the other torches, they seemed pretty stuck in place last time one of us tried to take one but will this work for now?" she asked. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Ah, you're a clever one!" Aldreda smiled and took the newly assembled torch. She lit it up, and the path of carnage behind her extinguished itself. "This should get me to a building, which I'm assuming has heating! You talk to me more about this side as we're going. Who do ya know around here?" @Shae | Ko

"The barracks and kitchen are both pretty warm and the bonfire too but that goes without saying," Ko began to list, "outside of them I've only been out to the forest which doesn't have much in either side. And the ice stream which does have fish you an try and catch if you can get through the thick ice. That's about all I been to so far around here and I haven't been to the new expansion yet so I couldn't tell you what it is." "As for people," Ko broke off for a second before continuing, "not many. "Good! Warm places to go. And fish is alright I suppose, but I don't need food in the traditional sense. Just more kindling." Aldreda said and walked alongside Ko. "Andre. Was he that guy that was just fighting?" @Shae | Ko

“Well that’s good then, with the torches and the forests I’m sure there’ll be plenty of kindling for you,” Ko spoke heading towards the paths, “yeah he was. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised though. Rakin said this was a tournament to the death. It was only a matter of time before someone I knew ended up in a fight.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Hmm. I didn't get this chat with Rakin that everyone's been talking about." Aldreda said. "Not to mention every time he speaks its utter nonsense- I can't even understand a word he says!" @Shae | Ko

"You didn't?" Ko asked, surprised to say the least. But then again she didn't really know Rakin or their host. She was operating on the idea of taking them at their word and yet Aldreda didn't even get the small kindness of an explanation. "That's hmm. Well I suppose anything he would've told you then you might have firgured out by now. At least the, we're all in a tournament to the death, part. That and he and Alrai Pin, the guy really behing all this according to Rakin decided to stick us in what they call the Maze and have us fight until the last one standing. With it being implied that the last one standing will also be killed. "Yeah, heard most of that from some guy who tried to snuff me out." Aldreda huffed. "It's nice that ya can stay optimistic, there's nothing I loathe more than a whiner baby- like my brother." @Shae | Ko

“It’s more out of necessity to be honest. If I don’t let myself believe there is a way out of here then there wouldn’t even be a point to trying to win a fight just to die later,” Ko admitted, “is your brother here too? Or is he still wherever you were grabbed from?” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"That's an interesting way to think about it. And nah, he was having a heart attack when I was taken! Didn't quite get time to fetch a Caladrius so... Not sure if he died or not." @Shae | Ko

"I think loathe is a bit of a strong word now, dear. I don't dislike him, I truly feel nothing toward the pathetic boy anymore. He's his own worst enemy, and so helpless and whiny and many other things I don't care to list. If he's dead or alive, I don't care. "I see. Since I don't know you or your brother all that well I will take your word for it. I was just curious in case he was someone you were trying to get back to," Ko spoke. She didn't know much about how royalty worked, one of the things she had yet to learn about in her studies or been around with her upbringing. "I'm assuming you're unlike him then. "How would I describe me? Oh, courageous, fearless, a trendsetter of the modern Avis era, beautiful I suppose, drop dead gorgeous, fiery, intense, overwhelming, bold, smart.. Shall I continue? I think just seeing me you can get the picture, darling." @Shae | Ko

Ko smiled gently, "I think that's a good enough starting point. I just think it's interesting to see how people describe themselves. When I first got here it was easier to see the kind of personalities people had in how they reacted to being stuck here. Now that the reality had settled in it gives me a good idea of a person when I ask." She didn't mention that her spirit sight helped. The aura that radiated from Alreda helping her see. "Calm would be the best word for myself I believe," Ko admitted, though her smile had turned slightly mischievieus. The part of her that listened to Sune telling her to have a little fun even while her training told her to stay peaceful before her expression schooled into something more serene. "observant, stoic at times, kind to most. As for this death maze suffice to say I don't care for it. I view it as death without meaning, without need. It's off-putting and moreso the way it's turned into a spectacle leaves me to believe that our host views this as hardly more than entertainment, views us as hardly more than entertainment." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'd agree with that calm assessment! You're taking this all in surprisingly well, dear. Maybe not as enthusiastically as my companion Calamity, but decent all the same! From what I've surmised, this all does seem pretty pointless. But we may as well have fun while we're here. I'm technically immortal, but I do to think that falling in to space may be my shattered coracoid. Not much air out there for me to fuel myself! “I do try,” Ko spoke, tucking away the information for later. “I suppose that’s one take on it. But if our host knows you’re immortal or discovers it they might make accommodations to ensure you don’t reform. "Hmmmmmmmmmmm. True. But I won't be conscious to think about it. I could be floating for thousands of years and then happen to wake up- and it would feel like I disappeared seconds before. All good things come in time." @Shae | Ko

"So if you are trapped in suspended stasis you won't notice past the initial disappearance. But if you do reform you won't even know how much time has passed?" Ko asked, she couldn't help but compare it to her own powers whenever she turned herself into mist. Time became harder to tell and if she spent a long time in that form would she also lose her sense of self? As it was she was always aware even while her body wasn't and she couldn't imagine it would be fun to lose herself. "Well dear, does it require patience when you're in a coma, unaware? That's basically what happens with me. I have a decent amount of patience, but I don't think being suspended in time counts." @Shae | Ko

“I guess,” Ko spoke, quickly changing one of her charms into mist as she let it swirl around her fingers, “it’s just the lack of awareness seems so off-putting. That you’d be unable to do anything while in that state. The lack of control that you couldn’t change even if you wanted to. It’s a worrying thought. Maybe she should've added contemplative to her list of attributes, oh well. "Yes," she spoke, bringing her hand up as she plucked another charm off, turning that into mist as well as she let it dance around her fingers. Aldreda watched with piqued curiosity as Ko changed the form of her charm. "How'd you get those powers, if I may ask?" @Shae | Ko

“As far as I’m aware I was born with them,” Ko answered. “My parents think it’s a latent ability in our bloodline that’s just been dormant for the past few generations.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Interesting. Seems like the typical way for most people." Aldreda hummed. "My brother doesn't have any powers- besides the normal Avian variety. But I'd say that's more of an ability than a power. Everyone there can do it- well- most." @Shae | Ko

“It does seem the most plausible. The other, at least for me, is that the spirits blessed me with the ability. But since they came forward about giving me a different ability it seems that the mist coming from my bloodline is more plausible,” Ko admitted, “so are you the only one in your family with any powers then?” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Blessed by spirits? Now that's way more interesting! Personally, I would just lie all the time and say all my powers came from 'the spirits'. Ha! But yeah, I'm the only one with real powers, and I got them in a trial by fire! I think dying but then coming back to life may have made everyone think we were guilty buuuuut that's all in the past now. "Oh yes, we're all very happy now. I convinced my brother to give my little coven some more political power, so we're doing quite well. Couldn't ask for much more. We were one of the first places in Avis to get working electricity and internet, but that might have been because the average Avian thought it was going to kill you or make you sick or something equally dull-witted." @Shae | Ko

“I would ask why on earth they thought that but people have proven time and time again to be either close-minded or mindless,” Ko muttered. It wasn’t often she shared her opinions so freely but she thought her it was safe considering her company. "So true sister!" Aldreda chuckled. "The average Avian is dumber than a chicken with its head cut off, but it's been getting a bit better. I think in like four generations we'll be mostly caught up with surrounding society. The next generation has already proven to be better off." @Shae | Ko

“At least there’s that going for them. Humanity can keep improving and hopefully with enough time those whose mindsets remain ignorant will be obsolete,” Ko agreed, “it’s one of the few things humanity has on spirits, the ability to grow and adapt rather than remain more or less stagnant.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well obsolete is one word for it, they'll be dead and on to the next life before anything changes! Hah!" Aldreda laughed heartily, placing a hand on Ko's shoulder. "I like your laid back attitude. You're fun." @Shae | Ko

“Their spirits will be stuck wandering a world that has changed. Forever scorned by the idea that their deaths have made the world better,” Ko spoke. Sounding all too happy about that idea. “Not too many people have called me fun, thank you,” she spoke earnestly, “I like your attitude too. After being zapped back to the B-side, Julien decided it was best to give up his pursuit for pizza for a while, and instead found himself wandering around the berry farm, reveling in the shortly-lived peace and quiet… @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Just so happened that a certain male newt was prowling the area, and rapidly approaching Julien's position... He was sniffing around and wiggling his tail anxiously as he did, finally pausing as he was within eyeshot of Julien, just glaring over at him. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien remained oblivious for a few moments, simply milling about, until he noticed a flash of orange. Upon further inspection, he noticed a man… glaring at him. Weird. “Uh, hey man… do I know you?” he asked cautiously, hoping this strange small man was not hostile. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"No. But you are in my territory!" The man crossed his arms and puffed up his chest. "Where is your tail?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

"You! A fellow male newt! Encroaching, and being so cowardly to hide your tail! Shame!" Dante stomped up toward him, still all puffed up. It was hard to make this guy look intimidating even when he was really trying. "I thought I could smell you around here! Do you have anything to say?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Just like another certain someone being backed into a corner across the map, Julien’s hands shot up. “Uh… I’m only half newt?” his voice cracked. “Plus, I just learned this a bit ago- after my fight. ".. Half newt? What?" Dante asked, so taken aback by that that he let his arms fall back to his side. "How can you only be half newt? What's the other half?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

"Man?! Human?!" Dante was dumbfounded. "Were you- were you born in an egg or the weird human way? Why don't you have any tail? Why did your mother choose a human over her own species?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien was also dumbfounded. “Uh… I don’t know how I was born, nor do I want to think about that any further, secondly- I have no clue why I don’t have a tail- why do you have one?” he pointed at Dante. “And third- I don’t know! She was weird anyway, but we also can’t quite control who we love, so I guess in the end she married a human? "Well it's normal that I have a tail, sir, I'm a newt! It's weird that you don't!" Dante returned to crossing his arms. "And what a shame that a newt woman is dead. How did she die?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Well sorry for not having a tail?” Julien replied exasperatedly. “I am still very new to this newt thing, and uh… honestly, I’m not entirely sure how she died. We lost contact for a few years, and eventually she was gone.” @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Hmpf. I am looking for a mate." Dante said. Totally normal thing to say to a guy you just met about his dead mom. "But I also just care about the fate of newts! I have never heard of a newt and a human... Successfully mating! So it is possible- my options have just widened. If a newt woman can mate with a human, maybe a newt male can as well... “…Dude, you can’t mate with my mom. All the berry bushes have spontaneously withered and died.

Aldreda was doing a few fly-overs of the area to see if anyone had been left behind, and finally, she found someone. "Hey! You! Listen to this obnoxious noise!" Aldreda said and swopped down somewhat close to the ground over Ko, close enough for her to hear the sound of grating static. She quickly swooped back up and tried to gauge her reaction. @Shae | Ko

Aldreda hovered in the air, still staring down at her. "Good, you aren't an imposter. Yeah, it had a point. If you were Alrai Pin you would've been more pissed off." Aldreda said and lowered herself to the ground. Her fiery wings melted all the snow around her. "We're all coming up with a plan together to go and fuck up Rakin and Alrai Pin. You in?" @Shae | Ko

“Depends, what’s the likelihood we succeed versus the likelihood we all get through into space?” She asked. She’d have to join either way. If enough people were in on this plan Alrai Pin would probably kill them all after if it failed rather than continue this game of his. “I suppose that’s true,” Ko spoke, pulled her charms off her belt as she turned them, the shape of a blade appearing as she let it solidify in her hand. "Dang! Nice knife." Aldreda said. "Aaaaaand we haven't quite come up with a plan yet, but all those amphibian people disappeared, so we're thinking that stuff's gonna start happening soon. We wanna be together for when it does." @Shae | Ko

She smiled then, something else glittered in her eyes as her mind began to turn. “No plan? Things might get messy, but at the very least we’ll have numbers, that’s better than nothing,” she mused, while this situation was certainly unique starting with how they all got here. Aldreda began to walk them back to the dining hall.. "Oh, I totally get what you mean sister! Personally, I can just evaporate and or disintegrate blood, but what's your preferred method?" @Shae | Ko

“I tend to turn it into mist and dispose of it that way. Sometimes the spirits ask for it as an offering so I give it to them. But for those who really deserved my ire, I add their blood to my blade, let the reminder of their defeat follow them as I use their remains to protect what they sought to destroy,” she spoke. She didn’t often talk of what she had to do as a maiden. Most assumed it was just basic cleaning and caring, and for others it was. But for her, one who had been connected to the spirits from birth, she always knew they would ask her for me, just like they always knew she would give what they asked. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Mist, huh? That's like the opposite of fire, hah!" Aldreda chuckled. "That blood blade thing is kinda hardcore though. I'm kinda a spirit, would you give me some if I asked for it?" @Shae | Ko

She looked down at her blade, it was the closest thing she had to tether her to her home while trapped here. And yet she found herself smiling. “Are you asking?” She aimed for teasing but her voice didn’t quite hold the right tone. "I meeeeean, I wouldn't mind some war paint. I was hoping I could get some straight from Rakin, but I'll take any." Aldreda said, taking that 100% seriously back. “Tell you what,” Ko spoke, laughing a bit at Alfreda’s theatrics as she pulled a bit of mist out of her blade. The weapon thinning just slightly at the hilt as she let the mist swirl over her free hand. “I’ll give you some blood now, it would be oh so cruel of me to deny you when you’ve asked so nicely,” she said, “and if I happen to draw blood during the fight from either Alrai Pin or Rakin, I’ll offer it to you.” It settled something in her. She always fought better when it was for someone else, if she could dedicate the blood she would try to draw to a pseudo-spirit here, she was sure she could do well. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yessss, thank you." Aldreda grinned and turned to walk backwards, so that her back was facing Ko. "The usual war style is a wing pattern on your back and arms. It can go over clothes, it usually does, so if you think you can make a half decent bird wing..";@Shae | Ko

“Consider it done,” Ko spoke, strange that this was one of the times she was most at ease while here. But then again she knew what to expect in a battle, everything else here had been new but this. Blood and her blade and a fight she needed to win, this she knew. She took her mist, letting it settle over Alfreda’s back in a wing pattern. Once she was satisfied with how it looked she let it turn back, the mist quickly becoming blood that adhered to the clothes as she muttered a quick blessing for protection and strength. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

It had been a while since Aldreda had had this applied- probably not since the Avis revolution way back when. There honestly wasn't too much left to fight for back home that wouldn't set people over the edge. "Epic! Thanks, girl." Aldreda smiled and flexed her arms, feeling the dried on blood now in its usual place. "I could give you an Avis blessing too if you'd like, I did it for all those dead folks. I'm guessing you don't believe in reincarnation in to birds but it's the thought that counts, right?" @Shae | Ko

Aldreda plucked off two feathers from her waist and brushed them across Ko's forehead, eyes, ears, heart, and hands, muttering something along the way. Once that was done, she placed the feathers behind Ko's ears. "There. That should be some good luck for you." Aldreda said and turned to continue walking down the path. "If you reincarnate in to an epic eagle now, you can thank me." @Shae | Ko

She stood still as Aldreda completed her blessing. She was used to giving the blessing it was rare that she was given one in return, especially one that was far more than a just a prayer aimed her way. It was nice. She couldn’t help the small laugh at the idea, “maybe not an eagle. But if it does so happen that I end up as a bird I’ll be sure to send my thanks. “I haven’t really thought about it. Maybe a sparrow hawk or a white eye. Something agile,” she mused mulling is over. “My body would forget but I’d like to think if it did happen my spirit would remember if only for a moment.
