Julien has unlocked: PHONE ROOM! This room, opening up at the lower edge of #left-pine-forest, was a bit.. Strange. More blown over snow covered the ground here, only interrupted by... Green phone booths? Straight up phone booths... Without any wires or anything connecting them. There were five of them all lined up against the wall. Besides that there was just empty space. Snow blown tundra. No shrubs, trees, water, anything.. Oh, there were some benches outside of the booths. They were covered in snow and looked miserable. You could hardly see them under the feet of snow, but they were there. Everyone say thanks Julien!

Connie had been wandering around the outskirts of the forest after she and Celena split ways- too tired to keep training, but to excited to go to sleep. Frickin' Spinjitzu, man! She was trying to gather sticks again- but it was going pretty slow now that it was just her doing it. Connie paused at this clearing...area, doing a quick little once-over of it. She didn't see this here when she went with Lykos earlier... She crept over to one of the booths, a little hesitant, and a lot wary, but still very curious about it all. If they were dead, she could try to jump it? (She didn't really know how phone booths worked, nor did she notice the absence of wires.) Beep. Beep. Beep. Please insert payment. Please insert payment. The automated voice on the phone said. In the usual place a coin insert would be was a hand shaped imprint. It was a bit big for Connie's hand, but she could place hers inside of it.. If she wanted to. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie was still holding onto the bundle of sticks she had collected, her eyes darting quickly to the coin insert thing- well, hand insert, thing. Eh. "Spooky," Connie mumbled, more to herself than anything. It didn't look like it'd hurt her. Luckily she wasn't at the last match where the walls and stuff started moving. First there was this clearing with phones and stuff, and now there was this hand thing? But curiosity won over, as it usually did for her. Wedging the phone between her face and shoulder, Connie slowly and very, very carefully, set her hand where the imprint was. Way too small. As she placed her hand on the insert, she could feel a steady stream of her powers being rooted in to the machine.. It didn't feel like they were being stolen or anything, just used to power it. The lights on the inside lit up as she held her hand there, including a light green hue from under the keys. The keys themselves changed from numbers to letters. Connie squeaked with surprise at the initial scare, though she seemed a little more intrigued than anything. Tingly. And it worked! It worked. "HUH-" she all but bleated out, dropping her sticks in surprise. She could call someone- anyone in any known universe- there were more? Who else could she call but him? With shaking fingers, Connie quickly- and somewhat forcefully- pressed in a name. "Establishing mental connection. Establishing mental connection. Est-" There was a LOUD screech noise which quickly faded out. "Mental connection successfully established. Grasping at the phone with both hands, Connie breathed in a breath of cold winter frost, and exhaled with the warmth of the sea. "D-dama?" she quietly asked, wobbly and breathy and faint. Please. Somewhere, elsewhere, in a small house along the beach, is a man. A gleaming purple fox made of stars and dust settles at their feet as the first rays of dawn creeps in through the windows, trickles it's way into an empty room, sinks into their bones with the weight of another day. In the quiet before the sun rises, they hear her voice. In the tenth of a second, Otter's voice comes crackling through the phone- 'Hells, what, Connie Connie Connie'; it is sharp with the hint of drowsiness, as if they've been waiting for someone- her -and it is kind and it is warm, and it is worried for her, and it is most certainly the best thing she's ever heard in her entire life. She tried- she really, really did try to be strong for them, if only for a minute into this call to just reassure them that she's fine; but at the sound of their voice, her dama's voice, Connie immediately bursts into sobs. She wails as if she were a child again, as if she were three years younger, freshly dragged from the sea. "Otty," she gasps, tears dripping down her cold cheeks. "Otty- Otter- dama, I- you- wh-" She's absolutely incoherent as it registers that it's him who's speaking. It's not a prank, not some robot imitation- it's him, it's Otter. She breathes in a rattle of a hiccup, nearly choking on her snot as she coughs and wheezes. "I don't- wwhuh-" 'Here here here where are you Where are you? Where are you? Connie?' It's followed shortly by dead silence, and a frustrated- 'Shit.' "I can- I can only hear your thoughts, I'm- I don't know! Otter, they took me, Rakin, the- Rakin, he took me, and there was this fight, there- was- th- they're making us fight, and-" They're already chattering away loudly, one thought after the other- Took her Rakin, took her Took her? They took you? Where, where are you? I'll find you, I'll be there' "I'm in space, and there's- there's so many other people here, and they're making us fight to the- the- they're making us fight, and the loser, 'Space? No, no, you can't be in space, space? Space? Rakin? Fight? Again? How are you in space? How are you talking? Are you okay? Are you hurt? It's been a month, you've been gone for a month, a month, where are they keeping you- did they hurt you-' A month. It was as if everything had frozen over. Connie, standing in the magic phone booth that just spawned out of nowhere, clutching onto the phone with cold, numb hands. A month. A month. That couldn't be. It had only been a few hours. "A month?" she repeats, her mouth dry. "It, it, no. No, it's only been a few hours." Her voice is shaking. Her hands are shaking. She's still crying. Through the static, crackles Otter's voice. Their thoughts. Their voice is shaking. They're crying. 'Connie, you've been missing for a month.' "no," is the first thing that comes from her mouth, and she clutches at the phone more. "no, no, no, you're- why, why are you-" 'Connie, Dragonfly, please, are you okay i'm sorry i'm worried are you okay connie breathe dragonfly rei call rei hold on please' "please," Connie sobs as the winter air claws at her lungs. She can't breathe. It hurts to breathe. It's been a month. "i'm so scared." Five minutes feels far too short for her. Five minutes. Only five minutes. Five minutes for what? She didn't really know how long she stood there for, her ears ringing as she waited and waited for Otter to respond. It could have been seconds. It could have been minutes. It could have been another month, and she still wouldn't have known. It was only when the ringing in her ears faded out into the beeping of the phone that Connie finally hung up with a quiet, creaky, 'tick'. Sinking to her knees with all the sticks and frozen puddles of tears, she folded her very cold, very stiff, very shaky hands in her lap. She was still crying, despite it all. Ha. Nora fled the barracks, leaving behind the net. Her moment of crying morphed from sadness to fear as she realized there was no one there to protect her anymore. Mister Riki wasn’t back, her family was gone, she wasn’t safe anymore. She couldn’t show weakness. Her tears dried as dread settled into her chest, the need to get away drove her out the door. But where would she run to? So long as she was here, she was trapped. As she stood frozen in the cold, she saw something in the distance she didn’t recognize. As well as.. the familiar sound of crying. Nora walked up to the strange booths and saw another young girl, lonely and scared like her. “I- um…. are.. you hurt?” Her voice was weak and crackly, like she also had been crying. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

A month. Missing for a month. She didn't really hear the sound of snow crunching, distant eyes only focusing on the girl when she was standing right there. If not for the fact she had completely lost the life to do anything, she would have been apologizing profusely for only now noticing her. Crackly voice too. Bestieees. "m'fine," Connie flatly said, depressed and exhausted and cold. Her fingers were turning really red. She didn't have the energy to put her gloves back on. Oh. She didn’t seem to be doing well. Her head tilted a little as she looked at her. “Um…. you.. your hands.. look hurt. Red. A little blink in response as Connie...tried to figure out how to respond to that. Phones. Probably weren't super common where she came from. Maybe? "um, a phone's like, this device thing you can use to talk to people if they aren't really there," she explained, "you just need their phone number- m, they need a phone too- and you can talk to them. uh, but, this one here doesn't do that. you just put your hand in and it feels? weird? but yeah, that's a phone- phone booth- this thing. ya." Nora sat there stunned after, every part of her screaming in conditioned response to obey, run, listen. Burning through the cold fear was that white-hot rage. The part that hates to be controlled- to be lied to. Her breathing picked up and she moved to attack Theora. @soul | 🎻 (edited)

They'll put you back to sleep." Luh- like being blurry? Theora paused, mouthing 'blurry' to herself'. Her tongue knew it. Rolled right off. "It'll be over when I find you. Celena nodded. She was feeling pretty chilly, too- It didn't help that she didn't have a jacket. Maybe she should've borrowed Connie's after all. Celena's palm faced the sky. From it, an orb of white light floated up and expanded once it was over the two girls. From it, warmth and light shined down upon them. It was a soothing type of warmth that clashed with the depressing cold that they were surrounded by. "How's this?" Celena asked. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Her sadness was starting to melt away as she held onto the ball of light. It was just like the star from her book… She held it close, letting the warmth radiate through her. “It’s.. so nice..” She smiled a little. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

She took the phone nervously, holding the light closer to her. There was a different girl in his mind now. Her voice sounded much weaker, sad even. “H-hi.. Juno. Um… I- wh-when you.. have.. a daught-ter you.. p-please don’t.. leave her... It- it’s.. sscary to.. be alone.. mm s-sorry.” She quickly gave the phone back to Celena, burying her face into the light. Celena’s body was like her light: warm and welcoming. When Nora wanted the hug to be over, Celena let go. She took a step back to even offer Nora some space. "Yup, it'll be just fine," Celena reassured. "It'll be all okay." She found herself giving Nora two thumbs up, which felt rather uncharacteristically like herself, but she simply smiled.

The chill that was starting to settle in as the moon rose was nice at first, but the winds had started to get on Mallon’s nerves the more the temperature dropped. They’d trekked along the stream with their catch, looking for somewhere to block the wind, but not exactly wanting to return to the main area of buildings just yet. Instead what caught their eye was a small building they hadn’t noticed before. It doesn’t do too much in terms of warmth but at least the wind is calmed. Without really looking around, Mallon settles against the wall to dig in to the fish they’d caught earlier. Anyone walking by would probably hear vaguely concerning crunching noises. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Agustin walked in at some point, instantly running over to one of the phone booths and totally ignoring Mallon. "A.. phone..?" Agustín mumbled, opening up the door to the nearest one. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Mallon’s head shoots up, freezing with a fish tail dangling from their mouth before evidently not taking Agustin’s sudden appearance as a threat and swallowing the rest with a final loud crunch. Mallon squints up at him—they know what a phone is, sure, but these boxes doesn’t seem quite so familiar. It..does vaguely ring a bell of a tv show they’d watched with Hannah once. But they’re fairly sure that’s something different. Maybe. With their interest piqued, though, they push themself to their feet and come over to inspect the machine closer. Mallon frowns, staring at their hand, and flipping it back and forth a few times. They startle slightly when they realize Agustin is holding the phone out, but take it after a moment anyways. “….Okay.” It’s a bit of an awkward hold against their earfin. “How does it know who I want. As they placed their hand on the insert, they could feel a steady stream of their powers being rooted in to the machine.. It didn't feel like they were being stolen or anything, just used to power it. The lights on the inside lit up as they held their hand there, including a light green hue from under the keys. The keys themselves changed from numbers to letters. "Please place a call to anyone in any known universes. You have ONE call remaining. Call wisely. Beep. Beep. Beep." "Okay, good, looks like it gives you a keypad. I think you just type in who you want." Agustin said. Well, they didn't know what a phone was, so what were the odds they knew how to type? "Uh. Do you know how to do that..? I might be able to do it for you if you can give me the name." @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

The feeling is definitely weird, and Mallon nearly pulls their hand away—luckily, the keypad changing is enough for them to remain. They stiffen, slightly, at the voice that comes out of the phone. Any known universes. Agustin’s question grabs their attention, thought, and they bristle faintly. “I know how to spell. I learned.” Mallon can you be chill. They study the keypad for maybe a second too long, but eventually punch in a name one letter at a time: H-A-N-N-A-H. Before anything can happen though, they quickly add, M-Y H-A-N-N-A-H. "Establishing mental connecti-" There was a LOUD screech noise which quickly faded out. "Mental connection successfully established. Mallon flinches at the screeching sound, free earfin pinning back against their head. Their grin tightens on the phone. Five minutes. That’s all they get. Hannah’s shout has them pulling back from the phone slightly, but utter relief floods them at hearing her voice again. A small smile cracks onto their face for the first time in—well. A little while. “What did Roy do this time,” they snort, entirely disregarding the fact that lightning was how they disappeared. Mallon blinks. “What. No. I don’t need to be avenged. Hannah’s rant leaves their hands shaking, and it takes them a precious moment of time to recompose themself. “It’s— It’s only been a few days for me.” They take a quick deep breath, then say firmly, “Hannah. You need to stop driving. Please. I can explain all of that. You— Y-You’re not going to like it. But I have to tell you.” Despite their best attempts, a small sniffle escapes them. “Please. “I am not whiny,” Mallon grumbles, glaring down at the machine. Now that sounds more like them. They do relax a little bit once they hear the car stop, at least. “Hear me out. The whole story. Then you can tell me I’m not— real, or— whatever, and forget all about me.” It sounds like it physically pained them to say that. “I do not know how much time I have left.” “After the lightning. I woke up chained. The person who took me—“ Their voice sharpens, genuine anger bleeding back into it. “His name is Rakin. He took— He took the… He took it from me. I attacked him but all he had to do was snap his fingers before I was gone again. This place— It is built for us to die.” They spit the words out harshly. “And he did not even have the decency to tell me upfront. I did not find that out until I spoke with some of the others who were also taken. They are making us fight. The loser is..left to die. In the void. And as far as any of us can tell, there is…no escape but complying.” It’s one after another after another, but there’s no other way to say it. Mallon hesitates over their last little tidbit. Is it even worth bringing up? Might as well just rip the final bandaid off now. “Yeonaixho was brought here too. But he’s different. Not him. I don’t…” The momentum finally wears off, and leaves them staring blankly at the ground. “I don’t know what to do any more. I just needed to hear your voice. To let you know. The sound of Hannah's hazards blinking punctuated every sentence. Every damn one as she had no response to say to this.. Madness. But Rakin was not Roy, even if they both start with R.. And this was all getting way too crazy and specific for her to be making it all up on the fly. But probably the only other person in the universe that would believe her would be.. Ryu. Maybe. Possibly. ".. You can't die. Not after we got out of that island together. Not after you saved me. You can't let this Rakin guy do- do whatever he's trying to do. You're too strong. You're stronger than space." Hannah said, slowly. She knew nothing about space. But the one thing that Mallon could hear when they spoke of Yeonaixho was rage. Burning, smoldering, crackles of pure deteststion. The red hotness of Hannah's thoughts burned through the speaker. "Kill Yeonaixho. I don't care if he 'seems different'. He's evil. There's no way he can't be. He's tricking you. He's tricking everyone. You have to expose him. Then kill him. You know he manipulates. It's what he does. It's what he did to his fucking cult followers, it's what he did to ME, to US, to.." The burning subsided, just smoke remained. ~~"Ekmeros."~~ It was a quiet thought, a mere whisper. "You can't let him keep hurting people. You know he can't change. You know he'll always be evil. Some people can NEVER change. He's one of them. If you get the chance.. don't hold back." A few moments of rumblings of random thoughts, none all too understandable. Finally, "Mallon. I'm scared. Please do anything you can to get back to me. I miss you so much. Please. When Hannah finally replies, Mallon sags in relief with a soft, punched-out exhale. “I don’t want to die. I don’t,” they murmur, a small chuckle of a laugh slipping out at the space comment. “And I hope that I am. But it seems the only one who is is the person who has brought us here. We do not have the access we had to Yeonaixho—“ The rage that bubbles through the phone then is biting, and all too familiar. Their grip tightens on the phone. “He is…” They don’t know how they could possibly begin to explain. They’re… They’re not sure if they want to. The seed of doubt that had been planted earlier, well— there wasn’t very much time for it to grow. The single quiet thought might be a whisper, a shadow of a name, but it rings like an explosion in Mallon’s ear. Metal scrapes against the claws of their free hand. Hannah was right. Yeonaixho had done this countless times. They’d seen it firsthand. They weren’t going to let him change them too. “If I see him again,” they start, voice shuddering before they catch hold of it again. “I will kill him. I will finish what I had begun. No— No matter what he says.” Their face twists into a snarl. “Rakin will meet the same end. I promise you that.”

Another promise slips out, then, one that aches in their gut and chokes their throat and scrapes like knives across their tongue but they can’t bring themself to try and hold it back. “And I will make it back to you. I swear it. I will come home, Hannah.” It’s a good thing their free hand rests on the machine in front of them. Hannah’s final words cut out, ringing painfully into the chill of the snowy room, and Mallon’s legs nearly buckle. Their inhale rattles in their throat. “I love you too,” they whisper into the speaker, drowned out by the droning of the message. Slowly, the phone slips out of their hand, dangling just above the ground by its cord. Beeping fills the room as they stand, frozen in place—an echo of Hannah that they can’t bring themself to remove. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

.. Agustin had been standing just outside the booth, putting his hands up over his ears to give Mallon some privacy after he knew that the line was working. Only after Mallon fell to the ground did he turn around and remove his hands. ".. Are you okay..?" He asked quietly. The beeping was really annoying but he wasn't going to move the phone back, lest Mallon rip him apart or something for ending the call early. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Good choice on Agustin’s part. Mallon doesn’t seem to give much indication that they’ve even heard him, though, save for the faintest flick of their earfin closest to him. They’re still staring down at the dangling phone. After a long, silent moment they do turn to face him, though it looks like it physically pains them to break their eye away from the phone. Their face is void of any emotion, yet as thin black and grey shells begin to fan out and cover it completely there’s split-second-visible tears tracking down their cheeks. “I am going to kill him,” they state simply, voice entirely flat, and then move to shove right past Agustin out into the whipping snow. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽 (edited)

Agustín didn't pressure them in to responding. Mostly because they were kind of a scary fish person. "Kill who-" Agustín began to ask before lunging out of the way so Mallon didn't trample him on their way out. He didn't bother trying to say bye and instead looking in to the booth, debating on if he should make his call now.. @em | mallon 🎣 + kenji 🌒

Mallon doesn’t bother with a reply. They’re gone into the snow towards the stream before he can even finish his question, fists clenched at their sides and head bowed against the wind. Hopefully his phone call ends better than theirs. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

No. That was not five minutes! He had been keeping track, he should have had another whole minute! "Dad!" Agustin yelled, hand shaking as the grating beeping only continued. His body trembled with rage as he slammed the phone back in place, yanking his hand off the power source and running his fingers through his hair. But this wasn't going to help him. He needed to figure out a way to get another phone call, or hope that he could figure out what his father was getting at on his own. Chances were, even if he called his dad back somehow, the same suspicious cut off would occur..

The lights on the inside lit up as she held her hand there, including a light green hue from under the keys. The keys themselves changed from numbers to letters. Momentarily, Moses' eyes widened as he felt the tug, but he soon relaxed when nothing else happened. Looking at the letters, Moses quickly typed in his son's name. V-I-K-T-O-R L-O-R @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Establishing mental connection. Establishing mental connectio-" There was a LOUD screech noise which quickly faded out. "Mental connection successfully established. A mental connection? Shit, he hoped Viktor wouldn't freak out on him. After the automated voice ended, Moses quickly started talking. "Vik? It's dad, do you hear me?" There's the sound of faint thudding that's heard from the other side before a very loud and confused, "DAD?!?", is shouted into the phone. "Holy shit, dad? Is that you? Are you dead?! Is this your ghost talking to me? What happened to you??" Viktor rambled from his side of the phone. He was sitting up from the kitchen table, freaking out in front of his mom and his stepmom. "Viktor? Is everything alright, sweetie?" His mom asked with a worried look. Viktor pointed at his head, "It's dad! I can hear his voice in my head! Hold on, dad!? Can you hear me??" Moses chuckled faintly, letting out a small sigh. "Yes, I can hear you, kid. Stop worrying your mom. Listen, I don't have much time, so I need you to listen to me. I'm stuck somewhere in space, kidnapped by some aliens. I know it's cliche, but it's real-" Viktor's face paled. "Woah—Woah, dad, s-slow down, aliens, what-?" Moses didn't slow down, however. He kept on talking, "They got me and a bunch of other people trapped in some sort of domed off dimension of sorts. We're being forced to fight or die. I'm okay for now, but I'm not sure when I'll be getting home. It sounds like you're with your mother, so stay put until I can figure it out. I'm sorry our first week together was cut short. We'll have the rest of the weeks you have off together, promise," Moses smiled. "D-Dad, stop, you're not making any sense! My break is already over. You've been missing for the whole month! Mom had to come get me the same day you suddenly got kidnapped!" Viktor shouted.

Moses' eyes widened, and he turned towards Agustin, still holding the phone up to his ear. "Kid.. A-A month? I've been gone for a month already? It's only been a couple days at most," he frowned. Viktor's voice softly broke, and Moses could tell his son was starting to cry on the other side of the line. "N-No, it's been a month, dad. The w-whole month... I-I thought you died or something. Mom did, a-and so did the guys from your work. C-Come home, please. I miss you. W-We were supposed to hang out the whole month, n-now you're stuck in space? Dad, I-I don't understand, I-" "Viktor," Moses interrupted quietly, holding the phone closer to his ear. "I'm sorry, kid. I promise I'll come back. I'll make it up to you, okay? Agustin tried to give him some privacy while he was on the phone, but he definitely overheard some of that. "You? Well I know that me, Dante, and Zahara have been here for a month and a half.. Moses stared at Agustin as he looked up at the stars. Deep down, Moses understood that there was nothing much any of them could do, but there was still a sliver of hope he held in his heart. Rakin didn't have it on him, so we'd have to assume it's his master that does. We'll have to get our hands on it somehow.." Moses sighed. "Agustin, do you know how to fight?" Moses raised a brow at that, and turned back towards Agustin. "Under the bandages? Wouldn't it be obvious if a whole compass was under them?" He asked before shaking his head. "That works out fine. I'm going to need backup in the form of healing. Now, the next question is-" Moses' brows furrowed a bit. "Are you going to be on our side when the time comes against Rakin, Agustin? Moses met Agustin's gaze head on. "You gave Rakin aid when he summoned you. I assume you are all on somewhat friendly terms with Rakin, despite the circumstances. I have to be sure you aren't going to falter when you see one of us hurt him," he elaborated. Then, his gaze softened just a tad, before falling down on the snow. "I'm sorry.. "I healed Rakin because we don't know what happens when he dies. This whole place could come apart. Or we could be left floating in space until we all die. She's the only one I've seen be able to call him in without getting in trouble. Messing with her would get us instantly on his bad side, but if we could work with her.. He might listen to her." "Only problem is that she's totally convinced that Rakin is a stand up guy who has everyone's best intentions at heart. She's just.. She's too nice. Moses folded his arms across his chest as he thought. "Zahara.. she's the other amphib you mentioned before, right? I assume they must of had some sort of relationship outside of this place if they're both fond of each other. It'd be difficult to ask her for help against Rakin... But perhaps she can be useful in letting us know what Rakin is thinking about," he suggested. "If we know his moves, we can at least plan against it... He's scared of whoever is above him. Worst comes to worst.. We'd be turning to Rakin for help instead of fighting against him," he thought aloud. "I don't know how many people would be on board with that though. Even I don't like the idea of trying to convince Rakin to help us out. Moses clicked his tongue. He didn't like the idea of asking Rakin for help at all, but he knew Agustin had a good point. "Well, if that's the case, I think I'm out of the running. I've already scuffled with him twice and looked through his personal stuff without asking. I don't really have the right to befriend him. Plus, no one else is really going to have the chance to actually talk to him since he's always hiding out somewhere. How are we even supposed to convince him to help? "You could.. Play bad-cop? If you threaten him, and I give him a way out that seems nicer, he might go along.." Agustin sighed. Bad cop... Moses sighed once again and pushed his glasses higher up on his face. "Well, that won't be very hard to do. I'm sure Rakin and I are already on the wrong-est foot possible, so being bad cop to your good cop should be easy," he replied with a shrug. "My guess is that Rakin truly thinks following his master will somehow spare himself and his family from its wrath. It's quite obvious he does care about people, but his fear is holding him back. He's a coward, basically. Cowards are easy to manipulate if you display power.. so that means Rakin thinks his master is the strongest person around, most likely. The cold had gotten increasingly unbearable the longer they walked. Despite pulling his crummy jacket back on and jamming his hands into the pits of his pockets, it was still freezing as hell. The red string Nora had made was tucked away safely within his jacket, nestled by his heart. Since that was how most jackets worked. He considered adding it to his friendship bracelet, but it was too cold to do anything but just walk and get out of this damn forest. Until he near walked into a phone booth, sitting very patiently in the middle of nowhere. Nathan stopped walking, visibly shuddering from the cold. What kind of person would just have phone booths here? They weren't even connected to anything. Was he hallucinating? Could he hallucinate from the snow? No, actually- because when he squinted, he saw there were actually several more phone booths just lined up after that one. Neat. At least they had doors... He stood there for a moment, blinking snow and more snow out of his eyes, and managed to jam himself inside of one. It was less cold in here, but his breath disappearing into the air wasn't an entirely great sign, either. Brr. "Snow sucks," he grumbled, brushing the accursed thing off of him. As Nathan put his hand on it, there was a slight gnawing feeling- like something was tugging on his elemental powers. The lights on the inside lit up as he held his hand there, including a light green hue from under the keys. The keys themselves changed from numbers to letters. Nathan barely reacted to that gnawing sensation, eyebrows only furrowing slightly more at the machine. He had enough of that feeling already, crackling and fuzzy and distant and just rude. He resisted the desire to pull his hand away though, wanting to see this whole thing through. Yet the moment the phone responded, his mind immediately went blank. One call? "Uh. Uh, uh," Nathan balked, running his freed hand through his hair. Shit. Shit. Shit. Who. Who to call. Who.All the names that were swirling in his head just moments earlier were gone- the sisters, the gardener, the corpse. Who the hell could he call? He didn't even wanna go over the whole universes thing now, too focused (and flustered) by the amount of people he could call. Name. Name. He needed a name. There- at the forefront of his mind. Nathan sat there for a good long bit, listening to the flat, droning beep of the phone. Anything but silence right now. A month, spent backpacking in Greece. Yeah. "Fuck," he breathed, watching his breath disappear into the air again. "Man. Man." His head was hurting. Everything was hurting. Chest, lungs, throat, eyes. He pinched the bridge of his nose and pressed his forehead against his knees, the phone droning off in his ears. He wanted more than anything to go home. To return to that normalcy, that peaceful, quiet normalcy. With Jace and Emmie. With the sisters and their little family. Family, their family. If there was anything he gained from these five minutes, he was certain of one thing. He was going to fight tooth and nail to get home to everyone, or die trying.

After some time of wandering around after that rodeo, Aldreda arrived at the phone room. "Huh? Oh, they used to have these things around cities. Maybe I can figure out how to use them." Aldreda hummed and stepped in to one. She picked up the phone and held it up sideways first, then squinted, and moved it to her ear. Beep. Beep. Beep. Please insert payment. Please insert payment. The automated voice on the phone said. "Huh? Shoot- I don't have any coin or whateva." She mumbled. In the usual place a coin insert would be was a hand shaped imprint. It was a bit big for Aldreda's hand, but she could place her inside of it.. If she wanted to. "Hmmmm, seems legit enough." She moved her hand in, and she felt her powers being siphoned out through it. "Ow! Damn- Well, I'm already here.." ...There wasn't a reply at first, just the sound of a dead line. All the way back in Avis, a man dressed in a brown and orange colored suit, decorated with some feathers, sat over a desk in a dark office. He bore the crown of Avis, indicating his current status. He was looking at some documents—An autopsy done on his late husband. It was difficult to look at, much less even process what it was due to still being in shock. He had asked to be alone after it happened, and that was already over a week ago. He hadn't left his office since. He knew he had to get back to his people and staff, and more importantly, his son... But Bridge couldn't do it. He had left Abel in charge, so hopefully the process for Arnette's passing was going smoothly. Then suddenly, there was a ping in Bridge's head that caused him to look up. There is someone unknown trying to connect to your hardware. Area 3847204. Accept? "What..?" Bridge mumbled as he saw the pop-up. He almost declined it at first, but as he read the area code, he knew it wasn't anywhere near Avis. It wasn't Si-Woon or Abel trying to connect to him. So who was it? Hesitantly, Bridge clicked 'accept', and that's when he heard Aldreda's voice. Bridge stood up from his seat in shock. "Aldreda?! I-Is that you? Oh my gosh. "Ah! Good to hear from you!" Aldreda smiled and twirled the phone cord around her finger. "Yeah, heard that I've been gone for a month now! That's cray-cray, cuz y'know, I really thought I was only gone for like a day! Aaaaaanyway, I only got five minutes to chit-chat, so I'll save some time from pulling your leg. I got kidnapped in to a space maze tournament. I'm serious! I was trying to help my brother get to a medic because he was having one of his episodes and I heard all this chanting and BAM I'm in space! Wait you're smart, can you tell my location from this call or something? Could you come through the phone and teleport us out? We're like um. Really dying up here. Having to deal and process with the grief of his husband dying was already a lot, but now his sister-in-law was speawing... all of this. Bridge stood in his office, quietly listening to Aldreda ramble off about space tournaments and people dying. It sounded like one of her stupid pranks again, but at the same time... She had already been MIA for weeks now. If she had limited time to speak, Bridge hoped she wouldn't waste it on a lie. He paused for a moment after Aldreda seemed to stop talking, before finally speaking again. "Aldreda.. that all sounds—Insane, but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt because I know as much as you like messing around, you haven't been here in a month and no one knows where you are. I can vaguely tell where your location is due to your call point, but I can tell you're not exactly calling me on a normal phone or using wifi. I won't be able to get to you," Bridge sighed. "Listen, you sound like you're stuck in a pretty bad situation, but please listen to me too. You have to make it back home. Arnette, he–" Bridge's voice sounded strangled for a moment, like he was fighting to get the words out his mouth. "H-He.. he's gone, Aldreda. A-And I know you probably think t-that's for the better or something like you always joke about, but I would, really, really want you here for his funeral. Altair seems to be f-fine, but he's asking where you are a-and I don't know what to tell him. "Thanks for believing me." Aldreda sighed, and continued listening on. So. Arnette really was dead. Didn't matter to her if it was from his heart attack she failed to get a medic for or for something that happened after she was gone. It's not like it was a surprise. He was a broken man physically, mentally, and in just about every other way. He was practically just a walking corpse. But this meant a lot to Bridge. And.. It meant a lot to her, deep down. Beneath all this care free persona. That was her brother, the man that killed her, but also the man she grew to forgive. He was put in impossible situation after impossible situation, and he would have killed himself to make things even if he didn't think that it was more of a self punishment to live and fix his mistakes. And oh boy, every day he was alive was miserable for him. "I'm sorry." Aldreda said, with a genuine inflection. "I'll do what I can to get home. There's fights, and the loser dies, and the winner moves on. Only one winner will be allowed to go home, supposedly.. I'm confident in myself, sure, but.. Even I can't guarantee I'll be the sole winner. There's some craaaaaaazy people here, dude, crazier than me! But I'll do what I can. Everyone here has a family and a life they're fighting to get back to." "And tell Altair I'm... Hmmm.. Tell him I'm off getting him a coronation present. A real big, fancy, destructive, annoying one. And that I'm watching him! There's a camera or something like that here and I can look at Avis if I want. I don't think there's a time limit. Aldreda should be glad Bridge wasn't human, because if he was, he'd be crying his eyes out and unable to listen to her talk. He started to pace around his office, feeling restless with all of the information she was giving him. "Die..? A-Aldreda, one person is already enough here. I need you home. Please. I-I know it's not that simple, but.. God, what is going on..." Bridge pinched the bridge of his nose, defeated. "If you can call me, you should try contacting Altair yourself. I'm sure he would want to hear you for himself... But y-yeah, I'll tell him that. As for the camera.." He sighed and sat back at his desk. A holographic screen popped up, starting to search for the exact location of the call. "I'm gonna try tracking your location right now. I can tell you're much further than just our solar system. Bridge began typing on the screen, trying to quickly pinpoint Aldreda's location. "Only three minutes..? Shoot," he grumbled. "If I can find your location, I can try to travel in a sort of radio wave to you all and get you out one by one. Though, that depends on if there are any radio waves where you are," he explained vaguely. "That, or I'll have to pull some connections to help me out. "Radio wave? Like the ones that play music?" Aldreda furrowed her eyebrows. Usually she would ask him to explain, but there really wasn't time for that. "I'm.. I'm scared." She whispered, once again glancing around the area. "You're the smartest person I've ever met! Well- you three together, anyway. For the first time in his life, Bridge felt like Aldreda was being truly vulnerable to him. It only took being kidnapped to some strange death universe for it to happen, but yeah. "A baby..? Jesus christ.. I-I don't know what sort of place you've been taken to, Aldreda, but I assure you, I'm going to do whatever I can to get you and everyone else out of there. I just need you to hold on, okay?" He said as his screen hit 90%. "I almost got your location. I got the galaxy you're in. Connie briskly made her way to the phone booth area, still feeling pretty uneasy about the whole. Thing. Nonetheless, she seemed to be controlling herself well enough, leading the way to the booths. Bridge took in a deep breath after Altair spoke, trying to 'chill' as he said. The screen that had been searching for Aldreda's location was still stuck at its 90% completion, but slowly restarted as the call reconnected. "Oh thank goodness you're alive, Aldreda. Hold on, I'm going to connect you to a speaker. Altair is here too," Bridge said as he moved the call over to a different screen meant for projecting audio. Once it was connected, Altair perked up. "Aunty Aldreda? Is what dad said true? You're stuck out somewhere getting me a coronation gift? How far out are you exactly? Connie hugged Lykos, carefully yet tight, her face presses up against his scraffly (yet fluffy) fur. "Thank you," she mumbled, her chest warm with gratitude. "Thank you so much, Lykos. I need to come up with a good nickname for you." After a good moment, she stood a bit, a hand still settled in his fur. "The machine starts when you put your hand- or, uh, paw -in the machine. It's safe, I think, nothing happened when I used it. And then you can type in a name." Otty didn't really study magic. Rei did her own thing, sometimes. Marshal studied it though! Lykos reciprocated the hug as best as they could, leaning into Connie and placing a paw on her shoulder, tail wagging all the while. Something in their heart feels tight, in a good way. Somehow. “I.. Bridge typed something into his screen, furiously searching for a radio wave point he could attach to. Surprisingly, there was one point right by Aldreda. Perfect. "I think we should worry about that after getting you and everyone out, Aldreda. At least back home, we could protect you. Being away, I can't do anything," he frowned, zooming into a point of the galaxy. "Altair, make sure you tell everyone to expect guests. Si-Woon and Abel should know everything I do. I'll be right back, okay, son?" Bridge said as he kissed the top of Altair's head. Altair nodded, looking up at his father with a worried expression. "Okay.. I will inform everyone. After the fight and that awful event were over, Agustin was left trudging around B side. His face was wet with tears, but he didn't even know what he was crying for. He had only been in Moses' presence for a few hours- tops. But this was affecting him so deeply. It didn't make any sense. Knowing his father was likely dying was not helping him, but it seemed that Moses really set him over the edge emotionally. He stepped in to the phone booth and held his hand up to the mark. He had his blood powers now- he could get another call. But.. Who to call? His father? What if he was already dead, and his call went to waste..? Moses..? Well- Moses was dead. This Moses was dead. Maybe there was a- a version of him from the past. Maybe he could warn him not to get sucked in to this event- however that could have been avoided... He made his choice. Moses He had to pause. Moses has never even told him his last name.... But Kian had. Kian told him that's Sir Lor. Hopefully, somehow, his last name was the same... And hopefully this stupid phone understood what he meant. . . . . . . Far, far away, in a land graciously known as Laputa, the knights of the castle were waking up to start their day. Many started at dawn, but there were a select few who would rise even earlier. One of these knights was Moses Lor. 5'3ft, 174lbs, and wearing sport glasses made from a thin veil of crystals, along with typical knight armor. Sir Lor had a habit of rising before most. Perhaps it's because it was drilled into him since his time in the military, or because he simply didn't sleep for long, either way, by the time most had risen, he was already half-way through his paperwork for the day. He sat in his study, quietly reading as his son slept in a room down the hallway. Viktor had moved to Laputa with him when he had accepted the job offer. His Knight Commander, Persis Lancaster, had a way with words and had slowly convinced him to make the move from his rather standard firefighter job to here instead. Honestly, Moses didn't know what he was expecting when Persis told him Laputa was ran by the knighthood, but he was grateful he made the impulsive decision. Moses got to see his son everyday, got paid much better than his previous jobs, and had top tier mental and physical therapy here. He couldn't believe this place wasn't a cult. Today was supposed to be like any typical day. Read up on any paperwork that needed to be finished with a black cup of a coffee, then head to his post down south of the kingdom after breakfast. However, that moment of familiarity was broken when he heard someone speak to him. In a flash, Moses stood up, heart beat racing as he knocked over his coffee onto his paperwork. Spikes of crystals formed from the ground, meant to impale any intruders behind him, but when he saw no one, his eyes widened. "Who's there?" "If this is some sort of Eclipse thing, I'm not a part of that anymore, so leave me alone," Moses huffed, continuing to look around like this was some sort of ambush. I may be a knight now, but I'm not afraid to kill anyone from the organization still." Moses' adrenaline was still kicking pretty strong, and he created a small dagger in his hand. Though, something about this stranger's voice sounded.. genuine. Something in his heart hurt at hearing Moses' voice say his name again. How long had he been asleep for before Moses was called out? How much time had he missed? And you have a son you split custody with, his name is Viktor.." Maybe he should have just called Viktor instead of making this long-shot of a call in the first place. "Y-you just died here. Unlike Agustin, Moses was on the other side of the line completely ignorant to anything that had happened between them. Though, it was still equally as shocking to hear what Agustin had to say next. He had all of his basic information correct—Firefighter, his son, his powers. Moses tightened his grip around the dagger, unsure if this was good or bad. However, what came after made Moses frown. He went quiet, wanting to tell Agustin to stop messing around with him, but something in the way Agustin spoke about him—The other him, made Moses take him more seriously. "...Who are you, Agustin? A wave of relief washed over Moses as he heard Viktor was safe. It may of been selfish of him, but that was probably also the other Moses' first priority as well. He paused as he listened to Agustin's woe, unsure what he could say in this situation to make this stranger feel better. What would the other Moses say to a friend? "...I know this is hard, Agustin. You probably feel alone, and that's why you're calling me. It feels hopeless, but if you still have the strength to find solace in a total stranger, then you'll have the strength to carry on for the person you care about. He's gone, and that's that. You sound like a decent guy, so you probably also care on some surface level that the others and especially, the children, make it out of there. You don't have to be a hero, but you can't give up. There’s a harsh beeping tone that echoes from the phone almost as soon as he picks it up, only getting louder once he lifts the phone to his ear. It’s…asking for payment? Ignoring Amara’s annoyance, despite claiming her disinterest, Kenji frowns at the panel in front of him. Doesn’t look like anything at first—then he notices the handprint. Why not. He’s already picked up the space phone in the space phone booth. He puts his hand in the handprint. Nothing happens, for a second. Then the phone speaks again and he jumps, almost dropping it in surprise. At least this one doesn’t seem to be sentient. And then it hits him. A call. To anyone. Even if it’s only five minutes, if this is telling the truth, if this is a lie and a trap, no matter what it is. It’s worth it. With a trembling hand, he carefully types out, ‘Jax Himura’. Kenji’s breath catches in his throat, rattling all the way down. “Jax….” His chest hurts. What can he ever say to that, to express his entire heart with only words to carry the truth of the meaning? “Jax…” His name, like a prayer, must be enough. “All I need is to come home to you,” he finally breathes, “Okay.” The weight of the single word settles heavy on his shoulders. “I can do that. The old bag that Kenji had essentially lived out of during those early years was ratty, practically falling apart at the seams, but he’d never been able to bring himself to completely get rid of it. Maybe it was sentimental, maybe it was the deep-rooted fear of staying too long in one place. He wasn’t sure. He’s quiet, though, in the time it takes from Jax to follow through, the only sound his quiet breathing as he wipes his face and tries to calm down. “Th-There— There should be a-a box, in one of— the inside pockets? “You beat me to the punch a little bit,” Kenji can’t help but laugh softly, wiping the tears away as quietly as he can, “when— when we were getting IDs and all that paperwork stuff. I.. I never really liked my last name, honestly, until I heard it coming after yours.” He shifts, carefully, looking up at the ceiling as if able to see straight through, out past the stars above. His eyes close, and he can picture Jax there, box in one hand and phone in the other. “Jax, I..” Another deep, shaky breath. “I love you. Everything we’ve been through, everything we’ve fought for together… You mean more to me than I c-could ever possibly put into words. A-And I know you can’t s-see me right now, so..you can— you can open the box. And I’ll— I’ll tell you that I’m down on one knee.” Inside the box are two silver rings, each with two bands of gemstone inlayed. The first one has a band of black stone streaked with gold, and then one of deep blue lapis. The second one has a thin band of amethyst on top of a thicker band of white moonstone, and this one seems to have an engraving etched into the inner side: ‘Jax - My Heart’. Zahara, Agustin, and Aldreda arrived at the phone booths. Zahara seemed instantly frightened at seeing Dante in one of them, but Dante didn't seem to notice them whatsoever. Noticing her fright, Aldreda quickly moved on to the furthest standing phone booth. "So.. This call sounds like it needs some protection, which luckily, I can provide!" Aldreda said. She grabbed her totem out from its usual place, and that awful noise began to play. Both Agustin and Zahara flinched away, putting their hands over their ears. "Sorry, shoulda warned ya! It's pretty loud and annoying. But it'll keep the little ring leader here from overhearing." Slowly, Zahara and Agustin adjusted to the sound and got to making the call. Agustin directed Zahara through how to make the call, and she typed in 'Raina Dumpy Sanada'. Riiiing. Riiiing.. Riiiiiing... "And if you think this is calling Rakin, maybe hang up." Aldreda suggested. Zahara wouldn't. If this called Rakin, she'd just use that time to try to plead with him more to stop. This all needed to stop. Finally, the call went through. "Raina?" Zahara asked quietly. "Zahara- huh?" Raina's voice could be heard. He sounded marginally different from Rakin here. Softer, more kind. Less snarky. "RAINA!" Zahara yelled, instantly crying. Well, Liekos already had his eyes covered up.. "I am not stopping them from fleeing! But that fake keeps sending attacks toward us!" Liekos yelled back. Aldreda wrapped her arms under Connie's arms as two giant flaming wings shot out from her back. Connie screamed as Lykos- no, that thing lunged at them, hands reaching up to cover her face. However, there was an intense blast of heat as her feet left the ground, and she was surprised to find herself hovering mid-air with Aldreda. Kenji and Lykos, the real one was still down there, but all she could focus on was that impostor down there. "You're the fake!" she cried out, trying not to slip from Aldreda's grasp. Static built around her fingertips, and she snapped her fingers. Well, the lightning struck its target.. Hard. In flashes of light, it's form fizzled away.. In mere seconds, Liekos had morphed in to some creature. Only about two and a half feet tall, and mostly grey, it was a miniscule bipedal creature. It's six eyes stared off in different directions at the gathered crowd. It was clearly weakened as it swayed back and forth. It's ear fins waved frantically in the cold, and it's long spindly tail wrapped around one of its legs. The area surrounding it had grown quieter, but not silent. Kenji flinches at the bolt of lightning, the sound ringing in his ears, until it doesn’t—as the sound in the room begins to dim. That gets his full attention, and when the illusion fades out he’s ready. Oh. That’s a fucked up little creature. It’s not attacking (yet, anyways) and they need to do something now. Smoke inches towards the thing, coalescing into tendrils, but rather than lunging out to grab hold like he’d planned they redirect—and coil up around his own arms. I think I’d rather like to see this play out, Amara chuckles faintly against the static he tries to remember. Well, everyone else's attempt had missed, even that moonbeam.. During all of this chaos, Zahara had been cowering behind one of the phone booths. This was all too much- way too much.. Chaos and injury and lightning and lies- Finally, she decided she needed to act. "L-leave everyone alone! D-die!" She shouted and threw a snowball at the little thing. It actually hit them square on the back, sending their entire body in to a fit of intense shivers. (Alrain Pin is at 21 HP) "Hah! Good job, girl! My turn!" Aldreda yelled, circling to reposition in the air above Alrai Pin. She stopped midair and flapped her wings down especially hard, causing a barrage of fiery feathers to rain down on to Alrai Pin. A few made contact with its back, again, forcing it down on to its knees. The thing was still shivering, and now holding its hands over its ear fins. A blast of sound shot up toward Aldreda and Connie, but once again, Aldreda moved them out of the way in the nick of time. Once again, people strike, and once again, Kenji can barely move. As the small group of attackers set their barrage against Alrai Pin, some of the leftover lightning from Connie's attack would flicker and oddly, start to form a circle around Alrai Pin in a thick line of light. When the ends of the circle met, a blue-green light shot up and formed a barrier between Alrai Pin and the group. This barrier looked just like the static barrier that went up around the entire sky a few hours earlier. Right as the barrier was created, small black pellets flew from the center and landed on the snow outside of the barrier. If ya step on them, expect something to happen! "Well, well, well.. Looks like you've been having a party here without me!" A voice echoed to the group. Appearing from thin air, Bridge materialized beside Alrai Pin, offering it a hand to help them up. "Master, are you alright? I'm here to help," he said to them with a smile. Seems like Bridge had been waiting to see if the almighty Pilarian would need his assistance or not. "Thanks Con Con!" Aldreda grinned as she continued flying, holding on to the girl tight. However, when Bridge appeared, her flying notably faltered for a moment before picking up. "B-bridge! You're here- stop helping that thing! And why are you dressed so stupid??!" Aldreda yelled down, and attempted to blast the forcefield with the sound. It harmlessly bounced off the field. Bridge was unaffected by the sound and continued to look over his Master. He couldn't be bothered with the others around them. "Master..? If you don't respond, I'll be forced to pick you up so we can move to a safer location. These guys are causing quite the storm here. As the barrier crackles into existence around Alrai Pin, Kenji stumbles backwards a few steps. Bridge—good thing he’d basically refused to talk to the guy after finding out who he was earlier. Grating static and sparking lightning blasts fill the room, but the force field doesn’t seem to budge. And the mention of another fight soon? Well, that isn’t a terrifying thought at all. Fine. He’ll just have to go through the damn thing. Finally wrenching the shadows and smoke away from himself, forcibly shoving Amara’s consciousness as far as he can go without killing them both, Kenji pulls and pulls until the tendrils flicker a dark, sickly indigo and the ground beneath his feet begins to rot. Multiple split off of him and plunge straight through the force field with a crack to wrap around Alrai Pin’s limbs. It won’t decay instantly, but it damn will hurt. @anti alrai alliance (edited)

Well, the dark tendrils hit their target.. An overwhelming bout of silence permeated out from Alrai Pin as they held their small mouth open wide. You couldn't even hear yourself speaking. Connie launched another bolt of lightning against the barrier, but as before, it fizzled away harmlessly. "W-what's it doing?" Connie anxiously asked, hands darting to cover her ears from the noise. But... She couldn't hear a thing. She couldn't hear a thing- not even Kenji's movement, or the crackle of Aldreda's wings. She couldn't even hear herself speak. It was just- quiet. "A-aldreda? What- what's happening?" @anti alrai alliance

Bridge winced as he saw Alrai Pin get attacked and he quickly moved to grab the Pilarian. Holding onto Alrai Pin's hand(?), or at least whatever resembled a hand, Bridge shot a glare at Kenji before promptly disappearing into nothing—Taking Alrai Pin with him. The shield then shattered and fell into a static into the snow, as did the black pellets. Looks like the show was over. @anti alrai alliance

The silence is deafening. Kenji barely notices Bridge’s glare, staring blankly in front of him almost in shock. As soon as the two disappear, though—before he can push the decaying even further—and the sound returns, his face twists in half-bitten-back pain as the smoke around his feet seems to pulse faintly. Clenching his jaw, he starts to reign back in the slowly dissipating tendrils, and hopes no one notices. Evidently, not being able to hear your own voice applies to gods, too. For right now, he’s grimly quiet. This certainly doesn’t feel like a win for them. @anti alrai alliance

Aldreda swooped back down with Connie, and gently released her once her feet made contact with the snow. "Okay okay okay okay- there's a LOT to talk about here but first off, I called in Bridge but that is not the one I called, I swear! He has a much better fashion sense! And isn't a no good back stabbing frog wannabe.." Aldreda ranted, partially obscured by the awful noise still coming from the totem. "But BESIDES Bridge, what the hell was happening here?! Why was that thing pretending to be Lykos?!" @anti alrai alliance

Lykos winced as the sound returned, but they still wore a grin. It can be harmed. They have a chance. “Hm, good work, all of you. Now.. Alrai Pin has gained the ability to change its shape. I believe it may be using the bodies of those that lost, along with their powers to do it. However, changing clearly weakens its resistance to the sound, which is the one weakness we are aware of.” They looked to Connie. “What did it want from you, starlight?” @anti alrai alliance

As soon as Connie landed on the ground, her legs began to wobble. Connie wheezed, pulling on the sleeves of her jacket as that noise returned. So that was Aldreda's friend? He didn't seem like one, not like that. Maybe it was someone else? As Lykos addressed her, Connie seemed to get worse, wide-eyed and brows all mashed together. "It- it was asking about Aldreda's totem," she managed out, voice all raspy and strained. "Th- the- and the static, the noise, and the pro- projection- that projection t-thing-" With a groan, she shook her hands, static still crackling along her knuckles. "And I told it about it!" she wailed. "I thought- I thought it was you, at the- sauna, but I felt something was wrong, but I didn't know something was wrong, and I- I told them! I t-told them about t-the totem, and the noise! It knows about it now!" @anti alrai alliance

Kenji starts, gaze distant and numb for a good moment before he blinks, and the dark blue flooding his left eye slowly fades back to normal. “It was quiet,” he murmurs, half-drowned out by the sudden influx of voices. Rot still eats away at the ground beneath him. Once his brain seems to catch up to speed, however, he frowns faintly in Aldreda’s direction. “Bridge.. Bridge s-said he was Rakin’s assistant.. That they knew each other for a long time. You..know him?” Connie’s cry snaps him back to reality fully. “That’s— Connie, there’s nothing you could do about that,” Kenji says carefully, minutely shaking his head. “It would… It’d find out eventually anyways, whenever we fought back.” @anti alrai alliance

"Sh sh sh, Concon, it's alright.." Aldreda soothed, lightly rubbing Connie's upper back. "Its alright, you didn't know, it's not your fault.. Seems like you're not the only one that invited some trouble." She took in a deep breath, shaking her head. "There's- multiple different versions of Bridge, and I only know three of them. A different version of him must have- somehow been recruited by Rakin. I'm sorry, jeez, I don't know if this was my fault, but if it was, I'm sorry y'all." @anti alrai alliance

The smile on Lykos’ face faded as Connie spoke. “Connie. You didn’t know that it could change, you had no reason to believe it wasn’t me. Do not blame yourself. It would’ve learned of it soon enough.” “Aldreda, the Bridge you spoke to was likely the same that came here. Hm.. I assume Alrai Pin must be controlling him, like Rakin..” @anti alrai alliance (edited)

"It- it was gonna find out anyways," Connie repeated, trying to soothe her breathing. Aldreda's comfort was certainly helping, though, and she leaned into her side a bit more. "Hhh- okay. O-okay. It- it knows everything, and it can read minds. And- and- it would'a. Found out anyways. Right. Hh." She was still shaking her hands, though. It felt less bad, but her chest was still aching after all of that. She trusted them, despite how strange and suspicious they were, and- and it turned out just to be a liar pretending to be her friend. "L-like Rakin. Do- do you think that...what we did might have weakened Alrai Pin's control? We hit him a good bunch...probably. D-do you think we could get Bridge back on our side?" @anti alrai alliance

Kenji bites his cheek, slowly running a hand through his hair. He still seems slightly disoriented, after everything. “I don’t… I don’t know,” he sighs, staring down at the smoke around his feet. “It looked hurt. I could feel that it was. But we don’t know how strong it is, we.. we barely know anything..” Not quite making eye contact, he adds, “B-Being controlled by something, it isn’t easy t-to break.” “Still— I think the important thing is we n-need to stay in groups. No one go off alone.” He hates to be the one to bring down the mood, but… “They’re not just gonna take what we did here and m-move on.” @anti alrai alliance

"But Bridge can't be controlled like-.. I just don't think he can. Rakin doesn't seem like a guy who's very good at computers.." Aldreda said. "But the horn guy is right, we all need to stay together. Any of us could have fallen for that illusion, easily. If it had pretended to be my bridge, I probably would have let it take all of us down.." "But Lykos, you seemed to know what it was right away.. Did it pretend to be something before?" @anti alrai alliance

In spite of what happened, and the awful, grating static, Lykos seemed perfectly fine. The only hint of concern in the doctor was towards Connie. “Computers? Just how common are walking programs in your worlds.. Hm, it is important to stay together. In fact, I came here to tell everyone to meet in the dining hall. We’re going to create plan of attack there.” Their calm waned slightly. “Yes. It.. cornered me inside of the sauna when I was alone. It was possessing Riki’s corpse, and used my magic to turn it into a monster and attack me.” @anti alrai alliance

Connie stared at the smoke for the briefest of seconds before clearing her throat to speak, however wobbly it was. "I don't- um. I don't...know what they're going to do next, but we should really stay together." Not that it would do much since...powers. She was going to ask more about their 'plan of attack', but... "W- whgh- I- w-what?" The shaking had gotten worse. Connie stared at Lykos, wide-eyed, babbling out something- "wh- h-huh? Are you alright? Did it hurt y- wh- what? R-riki?! .... Also! Zahara had been hiding out of the range of the sound, and she disappeared in a loud ZAP. She was gone as well.

Possessing Riki’s corpse. Kenji’s face pales, and his grip on his own arms tightens. “That’s…” His throat is dry. “That’s awful.” It’s a massive understatement. He would know. He doesn’t have much else to add, though, until they regroup in the dining hall. Until there’s a sudden loud zap of lightning, out of nowhere, and immediately he’s on guard again. “What was that?!” @anti alrai alliance

Lykos had turned away for a moment, speaking to something that looked like a shard of glass. Other voices were coming from it. They looked back to the group, their face tense. “We need to get to the dining hall, now. They’re preparing the ritual to bring back the Pilarians already, we need to create a plan!!” @anti alrai alliance

"H-huh-" She could kinda read mouths, but that uneasy expression on Lykos' face paired with that crackle of lightning was definitely a bad sign. Connie quickly moved Aldreda's hands off of her ears. "Wh- they're bringing back the Pilarians a-already?! What?!" There was still so many people- not that she wanted more of the fights, that was just awful and cruel and awful- "th- that's- argh, we gotta get to the dining hall first, c'mon!" @anti alrai alliance ( .ehe. )

Aldreda flinched back as the lightning went off as well, slowly moving her hands off of Connie's ears. The volume of the static got louder. "Crap- the actual Raina is coming to get us, but he said he needed a few hours to get things ready.. Do we even have that time?" Aldreda asked. @anti alrai alliance

“The actual Raina?” Kenji repeats, confused for a second before realizing, “Like from the video?” Not important right now—what matters more is Aldreda’s following question. “We definitely don’t,” he mutters as he hurries to the door, checking outside before turning back to the group. The smoke has receded, slightly, but still drags a trail of rot behind him where he moves. “Plan on the way, we need to get a move on now.” @anti alrai alliance to the dining hall

Lykos puts away the glass, their jaw tight with a frown. “Damn it all.. Alright, we need to gather the strongest for a main attacking force. Subaru needs to be a part of that group, she has the sound. Next, a smaller group to provide back up- those that are still strong but not as powerful, and anyone that can heal as well as fight needs to be in this group. Keep them out of the main battle but close enough to quickly heal. Hm.. Isabelle would be best to be a part of this, she also can play the sound.” Lykos walked with Connie, placing a hand on her shoulder. “My dear, I will ask you to a part of that second group. You are fast and powerful, you can aid the healers.” They looked to Aldreda next. “Aldreda, I trust your strength to be a part of the main attack, once the battle begins I would like to have the memory orb so that I may play the sound as well. The last group will have myself and anyone with more defensive abilities to provide protection. We will keep the most vulnerable of our group furthest away and protected from the fight.” @anti alrai alliance (edited)

"Wh- the video?" Clearly Connie was missing a good bit, but she was following along as best as she could. Isabelle! Isabelle! The winner- and also a name she had kind of gotten to know through stories... "Mhm! I can help the healers!" she repeated, nodding in agreement. Three teams, attack, heal-backup, defense. Right! That made sense. "Wait, s-so we're actually going to fight Rakin and Alrai Pin?" she nervously asked. "Like- like an actual actual fight? Do you think w-we can all do it? I mean, there's a lot of us! But. Um." A pause- "They're really strong." @anti alrai alliance

"Concon, we're not gonna just win, we're gonna kick the hell outta their asses!" Aldreda asserted confidently and patted Connie on the head. Her wings extended out from her shoulders again. "If we can't wait for Raina to come get us, let's work as hard as we can on our own. Come on." She held out her hands toward everyone. "I can carry y'all. Let's get going." @anti alrai alliance

As they continued walking, Lykos noticed Yeonaixho out on the path. “Hm. All of you continue ahead, Aldreda, Kenji- I trust you to pass on this part of the plan. I’ll meet you there soon.” (edited)

“We can do that,” Kenji nods, despite the anxiety bubbling in his stomach. “We’ll keep the sound going while we’re there. No more imposter surprises.” Hopefully. He triple-checks that his hand is still gloved before accepting Aldreda’s. Off they go. @anti alrai alliance
