Floor 1: Jymaiyri was back in her home. Everything was as it was the night before her entire family was abducted. Yeonai had just gotten back from work. It was past ten, his bus had run late again. Jess was going to be getting her cane tomorrow. Dinner was sitting out, cold, as Jymaiyri had been expecting him back no later than seven. A record player was playing a record. Even with the lights on. Minerva could be heard crying upstairs. She must have just woken up. (edited)

"I'll go check on Minerva." Jymaiyri said as she got up. This... couldn't be real, but it felt so... She had to go check on her baby, though. Maternal instinct guided her, even when nothing else made sense. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Floor 2: Unlike the usual feeling of the second story of her home, it was cold. A sharp bite of wind smacked against her as soon as she reached the top of the stairs. The hallway was long. And dark. And drafty. Gnarled, twisted woody vines had broken through the floor at some point and warped down the hallway. Occasionally, red roses would bloom out of the vines, and when disturbed, blood dripped out from their petals and spilled across the floor. The blood seemed to roll toward the darkness. The end of the hallway was pitch black. It couldn't be seen what was down there. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri stood still in fear for a still moment. This wasn't right, this wasn't real... but her baby was still crying. She ventured down the hall, her hand trailing along the wall to guide her... @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The further she went down the hallway, the thicker and bloodier the vines got. They finally coalesced in to one mass. Giant bloodied roses became larger and larger until finally, Jymaiyri got close enough... Lightning flashed, illuminating the hallway for a mere moment. Long enough to see what had been trapped in the vines. (Gore tw) It was a corpse. Vines were sinking in and out of its body. Flesh had given way to rot and bone. Pale bloodied skin was easily rended from the bones and hung off thorns. It seemed like the body had been there for a while. Two roses were bloomed in its eyes, constantly leaking blood on to the floor. Something about those roses in the sockets was drawing Jymaiyri in. There was a glimpse of something metallic. But behind the body, a door could be seen. A door with two locks placed on it. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri initially went to the door- but something about that body, as gruesome as it was, was drawing her in. She couldn't help but go and investigate it- trying, first, to tell if it was someone she knew, and second- to figure out what that metallic thing was. She willed the vines to clear away from the body, so she could better inspect it without risk of injury. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The body collapsed down to the rotting floor. Whatever hair it had left was stained red. Broken and decaying fish-like fins stuck out from a few places across its body. It was dead. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri could feel panic and bile rising in her throat- but willed composure. It was dead. Cautiously, she approached it- moving slowly even though it was dead. She crouched by the head and- after taking a moment to gag- dug her hand under the rose in the left eye. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

There was something cold and hard inside the flower. When removed, Jymaiyri could see it was a small golden key. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Eugh-" Jymaiyri wiped her hand on her pants. She glanced back toward the door. Two locks. Two roses. Two eyes. Two keys? She dug into the other eye socket. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The other also held a key. There were two locks on the door. So. Go figure that out girl. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Wasn't too hard to figure out. Jymaiyri tested both keys in both locks til they opened. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The locks opened after switching the keys around once. The stairs up revealed just as dark of a hall as the one she was currently in. But the baby could be heard upstairs. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Nowhere to go but up! (actually many places to go but up but her baby was still crying). Up she goes. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Floor 3: This next floor seemed empty. The baby could not be heard crying anymore. The door slammed shut behind her. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri startled at the sudden slam of the door, and stumbled further into the dark of the room she found herself in. "... hello..?" She managed, weakly, if only to hear her own voice. And to see if there was anything else in there with her. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

No voice responded to her. Just the whistling of the wind seeping through the broken windows and cracks in the walls. Finally, a figure stepped out of the darkness. The dull light from outside was just enough to illuminate her. Minerva looked to be about sixteen or seventeen, though her (lack of) height would’ve made it seem otherwise. She had a bony, petite frame, and had grown into her father’s angular facial features. She still had Jymaiyri’s dark eyes, though. She wore her dark hair in a closely-cropped buzz- just long enough at the top you could see the bouncy curl. Her face and ears were adorned with a variety of piercings, as well as dark eyeshadow. She wore baggy black jeans and some kind of band t-shirt, and over that a heavy leather jacket with studded lapels, as well as black leather combat boots. She blocked Jymaiyri's path. She had a murdeous look in her eyes. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

It took a moment, but Jymaiyri recognized her- of course, she would recognize her daughter. She looked so much like Yeonai did. "Minnie?" She stammered, and approached her. Why did she look so angry? Why was she a teenager now? She'd skipped all of childhood! "Shut up. And it's Minerva, I'm not a baby." Suddenly, she advanced towards Jymaiyri. As she ran forward, her hands elongated, fingers growing into long, thin claws, with far more joints than any normal fingers would have. She dug her bony claws into her mother's shoulder. (body horror) Clearly, the action pained her as much as it did Jymaiyri.

Jymaiyri screamed in pain, but willed thornless vines to sprout up around her daughter. They twisted around Minerva's frail body, restraining her. "Fuck you!" Minerva yelled, her dark eyes filled with hatred. She wiggled and writhed as much as she could within her restraints. Though Jymaiyri's gaze lingered on her daughter, she began to flee. She hated the idea of leaving her own child tied up alone, even if she was... a weird and murderous teenager.

As Jymaiyri was backing away, Minerva tore through the vines. She stumbled to her feet and advanced towards her mother again, shedding her jacket on the bare floor. Sheets of solid bone sprouted up from her bare skin, encapsulating her flesh. Her limbs split and bled haphazardly, as if she couldn't keep her body in the right form. All her mutilation seemed to slow her down a considerable amount, and she ended up trudging toward her mother. Jymaiyri couldn't look away from her daughter- but eventually, she had to. She tore her eyes from the melting pile of body Minerva was becoming, and ran to the other side of the hall. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The door was there. The crying resumed as the neared the exit. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri opened the door, not wanting to look back. ... Behind her, gurgling, gross flesh noises could be heard... @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Floor 4: As Jymaiyri moved up in to the next hallway, she began to feel like she was being watched.. Like people were judging her. That feeling you get when you know people are talking about you behind your back. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri couldn't help but feel fear rising up her back. She took a moment to catch her breath. She wrapped her arms around her body, tucked her head down, and trudged down the dark hallway... @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

She could hear whispers around her. They were talking about her. They were talking about how evil she was. They were talking about how she was an unfit mother... @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

She tried to ignore them. She hadn't wanted to hurt Minerva- but she couldn't stop her from hurting herself. She didn't know what to do. She continued on. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The voices were getting louder as she continued on. They carried on with the usual points as Minerva's crying got louder. They started adding in her infidelity... Was she unloyal to Yeonaixho in the one day he was gone..? What did that say about her? @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

She focused on the crying. If she could ignore everything else, she could get to Minerva. Maybe she was awful, but it would be more awful to leave her child alone. Not when she needed her. She continued on. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Floor 5: Up she went! At the top of these stairs stood... Herself. She was dressed in bloody clothes, and gnarled vines wrapped around her arms, also covered in blood. She looked down at Jymaiyri blankly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri stumbled backwards in suprise. At first, she thought it was a mirror- but it couldn't be. She put her hand over her chest, and stared up at the other her in fear. "Wh- what?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Jymairyi approached the other Jymaiyri. She balled her hands into fists- more to brace herself than to prepare. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The other Jymaiyri stepped back as she stepped toward her, perfectly mirroring her steps. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

She sure did. However, as they approached the opposite door, she stopped moving further back, and only mirrored her side to side steps. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Lifting her hands, Jymaiyri sprouted thorny vines from the ground, wrapping them around the other her. They'd restrain her, at least for a bit. She stepped past her as quickly as she could... @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Well, she could try, but a moment after she had been trapped, she did the same to her.. Vines wrapped around her limbs and restrained her. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Fuck!" Jymaiyri cursed as she was restrained. Bested by her only combatitive move. She tried to break out, but couldn't. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The other Jymaiyri broke the cycle of copying and instead tightened the vines around Jymaiyri.... They were moving up toward her face. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri tightened the vines around the other her, trying to ignore the pain. Rather than going for the face, she burrowed them into her doppelganger's stomach. She tried not to look at it. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The fake Jymaiyri was silent as the vine struck through her. She disappeared in a plume of ash and the vines holding the real Jymaiyri did as well. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri patted down her body as the veins disappeared- making note of all the new wounds. She went through the door she now had access to. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Floor 6: Up she went! This floor just had a bunch of mirrors lining the walls.. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

As Jymaiyri looked at the nearest mirror, she saw herself.. But... It was the version of her Alrai Pin had given her a glimpse of. That clearly walking corpse with viscera hanging out of her chest. She was sitting in a field of light, surrounded by a freezing cold blizzard. A young looking woman with black hair was collapsed on the grass next to her. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

That stalled her. Jymaiyri watched the mirror longer than one would normally watch a mirror. It was... her. It was very clearly her. But it wasn't. She didn't say anything, but crossed her arms over her chest. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

That scene with her in it continued on. Eventually, that mirror her left the collapsed woman, and the cold closed in on her. Jymaiyri never came back. It ended there. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

The next mirror she glanced at showed her corpse lying on a table in some basement. Yeonaixho was standing beside her. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

At least in that one, her body was intact. She watched the scene for a while, just as she had the one before, then moved on... @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

The next one showed.. Her and Yeonaixho going about their daily lives. Jymaiyri had made that peach cobbler and they were both sitting at their dining room table, talking amongst themselves.... @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

That was normal! And it was... beautiful. She couldn't look away from it. She couldn't bare to. A brief glimpse into what things had been like before. She wanted to go back. More than she had wanted anything, ever before. Hot tears of grief and exhaustion and pain spilled across her face. She put a hand to the mirror's surface, and imagined she could walk right through it. To back then. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

As she touched it, it began to pull her in..

Her attempts to pull out were fruitless. It pulled and pulled until she was entirely sucked in.. ... "Are you alright? You have hardly touched your cobbler." Yeonaixho asked her. Jymaiyri was sitting in the seat that she saw herself sitting in. A mirror in the hall nearby showed the hotel hallway she had just gotten sucked in from. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Wh-" Jymaiyri glanced from Yeonaixho, to the mirror, to the cobbler on her plate. She didn't know what to do. What to say. This couldn't be real- no matter how much she wanted it to be. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"... Do you need to lay down?" Yeonaixho asked, his voice soft and gentle. "It is a little late now, I can put this all away and we can have it tomorrow instead, Lilybud." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"I-" She sunk into her chair. "Yeah, uh- that sounds good." Could she leave this? This impossible dream of peace, that hadn't seemed impossible til now? For now, she stood still. She took it in. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Yeonaixho nodded and stood up. He took his plate and slid it over in Jymaiyri's direction, waiting until he heard a slight clink of the plates to pick up that one as well. With one plate in each hand he leaned over and placed a small kiss on Jymaiyri's forehead. "I'll meet you upstairs. I'll take care of the dishes and check on Minnie." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri leaned into the kiss. She couldn't help but let more silent tears roll down her cheeks. She missed this. She missed this so much. She would do anything to get it back. "Yeah. Thanks." She got up from the table and left for the hallway. Instead of turning for the stairs, she stared at the mirror, and the real world beyond it. She spared one last glance towards Yeonaixho, now alone in the kitchen, before putting her hand on the mirror. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'll see you soon, Lilybud!" Yeonaixho called from the kitchen as the water started running. ... Huh? Well, Jymaiyri was back in the hallway now. Maybe she should avoid looking in any mirrors... @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Yeah, she was definitely not looking in any more. She closed her eyes and took a moment to catch her breath, then almost-ran down the hall, not sparing any of the mirrors a second glance. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽
