"Ugh... my chest..." Yeonaixho groaned, but the pain slowly eased. He still couldn't make sense of why it was hurting in the first place, but that was a question for another time. He sat up on his knees, narrowly avoiding colliding with Aldreda, and sighed. "I don't..." It was then he noticed the sand beneath him, and the lightness on his head and shoulders. "What the- where am I? Did someone cut my hair?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

... Should she tell him..? ".. You died. But you're alive now! It's only been a day." Aldreda said. "And don't freak out- I'm undead too. It's nothing to worry about. And yes some guy cut your hair. But I'm sure that can grow back." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Wh- what? I died-" Obviously, he was inclined not to believe that. He checked himself over for injuries. "I don't- I don't remember dying- how did it happen? How did I come back?" His hair concerns could wait, for now. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'll cut it straight with you since I know I would've appreciated that. You were mauled to death by some kind of creature. Your guts and blood was everywhere, and the guy that cut your hair also took your organs to presumably give to your.. Wife. His brow furrowed, his face scrunched up in disgust. "Eugh... well, I seem to have all my organs now. Which is good." He hummed, patting himself over once more. "I'll... I'll definitely have to talk to Jymaiyri soon... you said it's been a day?" A day, with him dead. How would she feel? Would she feel as strange as he did, being back? He was still reckoning with having been dead in the first place. "Eugh. God." He repeated. "Where are we now? Where's Jymaiyri?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yep, a day. There's been a lot of fights since then, and we just voted to bring you and Nathan back.. We heard that you're a healer that can help us?" Aldreda asked. "And we're in the arena right now, only the winners were invited to vote and Jymaiyri hasn't had her fight yet. She's either watching or back on the cold side now." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh. Hah. Huh." Yeonaixho's breaths were heavy as he tried to take all that in. "They can just... bring people back from the dead, huh..." "The cold side... I'll need to talk to her soon. I'm not dressed for it, but..." His thoughts trailed. "Oh, yeah, I'm a healer. I've got healing powers. I don't know what you need help with but..." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"In the future when we're getting out, we'll need a healer. I'm fine though, I'm immortal." Aldreda said. MAN the temptation to say something was strong. "Oh. Right. When we're getting out." At least his task was pretty straightforward. "Mhm. I hope so." He sighed again, and adjusted his new robe a bit. Of course, they changed his clothes too. "And, you are...?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'm Aldreda." She said. "You could borrow one of my phoenixes to go with you if you'd like, they'd be able to keep you warm until you can get more clothes." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Phoenixes?" He asked. "I'd- appreciate that, I guess. I need to get my cane..." Obviously, that was not on his person right now. "And do you think we'll be able to decide where we're going? I might just get sent back to the warm side- I never switched beforehand." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Turtle hopped up on to his shoulder. It was nice and warm. "Hmm.. you probably won't be able to decide, but hopefully Rakin won't be a total ass and you'll be with Jymaiyri again." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Yeonaixho startled at the sudden warm touch, but seemed to settle a bit soon after. Seems he was still pretty jumpy from the whole dying and coming back thing. "Mhm. I hope so." Hoping was really all he could do in this scenario. "Has Nora had her fight yet? Or Celena? I know you said Nathan also came back, so- I assume he lost his too." "Huh. Well, it's good he's back now, anyways." He could faintly hear Zora and Nathan's cheerful voices somewhere nearby, and the sound filled him with relief. "Good, that he's back." "Lemme think about who else died since your fight.. um.. We've been doing a bad job keeping track outside of fights, but in the fights it's been Nathan, Kevin, Aileen, Riki, Calamity, and Moses. Did you know any of them?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh, Riki.... we met once, and Kevin, and Moses... I've met all those three. I don't recognize the other two names." All good, hardworking souls. He was brought back, while they were left to rot in their graves. Or wherever they went when they lost. He wasn't sure how comfortable he was, thinking about his living while they remained dead. "Aww. If it's any consolation, Aileen was a real piece of work. But everyone else is pretty unfortunate, yeah." Aldreda said. "But don't beat yourself up about it, we all voted to bring you back. There were a lot of people missing you." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Mhm... thank you, I guess is what I should say. If it weren't for all you, I'd still be dead." It was hard to say it. To reckon with it. Something else unnerved him. "If... all the fight winners are here, does that mean the thing that...." He couldn't voice 'killed me', the words stuck in his throat. "Is the creature around? "I don't- I don't want to risk aggravating it again, after what it did to me the first time." He shifts his robe so it covers more of his chest. "No, I- I phrased it weirdly." Yeonaixho frowned. "There's another dimension out there, with a version of me that's a cult leader. I think... that's the me that it was angry with. I don't... I don't really know. But it's the only explanation I can think of." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Yeonaixho seemed... impressed. "A Phoenix. Huh." He didn't ask about the brother thing, seemed... personal. "I guess that explains your friends." He gestured vaguely to the firebird perched on his shoulder. "That's... huh. And it doesn't freak you out any?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Mhm, that one's Turtle." Aldreda said. "Well, that first time it happened it was pretty scary, but most of my friends at the time went through the same thing, we all had each other afterward and we formed our own little community." Aldreda turned her attention away from Juno for a moment to start scanning the rubble around them. "It's all pretty normal now." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Turtle, cute name." He hummed, though he let Aldreda speak for a moment, simply taking it all in. "Mhm. It sounds scary. But... I'm glad you have a community to rely on, that always makes things better." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"They're all pretty great ladies, and we really helped out during the Avis revolution. Our president actually has a seat at some meetings now! "Mhm... well, my chest hurt a lot when I first came back, but I guess that can be explained by... everything. I feel the same as I used to- I mean, I feel like me... I don't even remember my actual fight, or dying or anything. I guess I'm glad I don't, seems like it'd be... traumatizing, but I don't feel any different to how I did before." He frowned. "That's good- you seem mostly the same then. No new strange abilities to speak of." Aldreda hummed. "Well, you came outta this pillar that exploded everywhere, and that got struck by lightning... "None that I'm aware of, at least." He hummed. "Yeah, that might be it. I hope it's temporary. Would suck to not be able to hear properly, what with me already being blind." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Yeah, that would make everything harder.." Aldreda said, continuing to scan around the rubble. A few glowing stones caught her attention. "Aha! Good, the power stones weren't absorbed or something." She picked up the feathery one and placed it back in its usual place- between her breasts. She ought to invest in a purse or something. Maybe. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Power- what?" Yeonaixho turned with Aldreda, mostly to track her voice. With somewhat mild curiosity, "What's going on?" @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well the winners get half of the powers of the losers- except you I think because you died- oh and Calamity too- and my opponent lost obviously. So I got half of her powers. Seems like she had some kind of lame as hell thinking powers. They're a bit useful in some niche places though. We had to use the stones to place our votes." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Huh...." Yeonaixho's brow furrowed as he took that in. "Huh. Well... I still think I have my powers. Which is good." Never mind that they felt... different now, somehow. "Thinking powers? How's that work?" He asked. "My friend's partner has mind control powers, though those seem... more broadly useful." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

Aldreda took out the stone and placed it on Yeonaixho's hand. "Just try to think of something super consciously. It should start playing." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Yeonaixho cupped the stone in his palm. It took him a while to settle on anything specific. But eventually, he picked something. He concentrated on the memory, the gentle motion of the rocking chair, the softness of the blanket Minerva was wrapped in, the weight of his daughter in his arms as he gave her a bottle. She'd been only a little bit under a month, then, and so tiny he could barely believe she was real. His daughter, his little girl. It had been back when things felt safe, when things were normal. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

No visuals accompanied it, but Aldreda could feel what he was feeling at that time. It was an overwhelming feeling of contentness. "Oh- oh wow- that's.. beautiful." Aldreda said quietly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Yeonaixho smiled softly. "Oh, uh- thank you, I guess? I just thought of my daughter, Minerva..." He chuckled lightly. It was clear he loved his little girl quite a lot. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"I'd say that doing everything you can to not be like your dad still counts as being influenced by him. And, hey, same thing happened to me." He shrugged. "Your brother died? My condolences." "Mhm, yeah, she's a crow. I think she's part of the Jetfoot Murder, or something like that, but she doesn't really keep up with it all I don't think. She lives in human society with her partner." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"... I have never heard of that group." Aldreda said. "Also- I'm not a dove. I'm a golden eagle. My joke was saying that I'm far from a dove. And neither of those are corvids... When did she leave Avis?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"... huh. I kinda figured something like that." Yeonaixho hummed. He was deep in focus, trying to remember if Petrai had ever mentioned a place called 'Avis' before. "I... don't think she ever went there? She's from the Blackrock Mountains in the North Loucari. Where all the other Corvi are from." @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Well Avis is also on mountains but not those ones- I've never even heard of that. And all Avians are from Avis.. I think there's two different bird societies happening here. Do they happen to also worship a giant Jacana with big claws?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Yeah- I think there's two different bird societies. The Corvi are kinda... all corvids, so that would make sense." Yeonaixho nodded, and laughed. "Oh- definitely not. At least Petrai doesn't. "Mhm. I'm from Sehwolh valley, it's where I get my name." Yeonaixho nodded. "Jymaiyri... she's kind, strong. Very confident. She's incredibly determined- if there's something she wants done, she'll get it done. I guess I struggle to say anything bad about her." He laughed. "She's great.
