Toward the back right of the area, there were some sparse palm trees dotting the sand and grass. Most of them had large coconuts ready for plucking if anyone wanted to take some. Oddly, many of the trees had large gash marks up the trunks, like some giant clawed creature had climbed them to pluck off coconuts for themselves.... Eh, it was probably fine. Feel free to lounge around here and lower your guard.

With a ZAP of lightning, Nora appeared in the area... No one was here. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora woke up as she felt herself falling, landing softly onto the sand. She sat up on her side, clutching her kitty. She looked around, trying to find the man that brought her here. She was alone. As she looked, she spotted something she had never seen before in real life. In fact, many things here she had never experienced. Sand and palm trees!! She stood up, in awe of the giant trees. Maybe she could try a coconut…!

Quickly, Nora pulled out some of her string, knotting it into a lasso and easily nabbing a coconut with it. She tugged it off the tree with tremendous effort. “…how do I... open… hm.” She twisted the coconut around in her hand, trying to find whatever hole people in her books would put those stick things in. …maybe she had to make a hole? She could hear water sloshing inside, making her smile just a bit. She could figure it out. The people in her books looked very happy when they drank these, she was excited to try it. Nora held her kitty in the nook of her arm, carrying the coconut in her hands. Maybe she could find something to make a hole with.

As she started to search, Nora could hear the sound of someone yelling. Her excitement faded. She set the coconut down in the sand, planning to come back for it when she finished. With the smallest of sighs, Nora quietly headed towards the voice, tying her kitty close to her so it wouldn’t fall.

Back here, with a rock this time. She sat on her knees in front of the coconut and swiftly brought the rock down on the fruit(?) attempting to split it open. The movement was not unlike how she tried to kill that girl earlier. If you asked her, she would tell you she got the idea from it.

The coconut split slightly, giving Nora a slight smile. She picked it up, looking for a hole to drink from. Not big enough yet. Small drops fall onto her face as she examines it. She sets down the fruit and whacks it again.

She misses completely, overshooting and hitting the sand. It kicks some into her eyes, surprising her. She cringes, rubbing the sand out of her eyes. She picks up the rock, trying again. (edited)

Wow she was bad at this. She frowned a bit as her rock bounced off unceremoniously. She was determined to get that water.

This time was successful, and a nice crack formed. Nora held it up again, water spilling out onto her face. Not how she wanted to do that, but it didn’t matter. The juice was incredibly sweet, sweeter than anything she’d ever tasted before. She set the coconut back down, processing the sweetness. “wow…” She tapped her fingers excitedly against the shell.

THEY ARE APPROACHING at a steady pace. Isabelle looked around as they walked past multiple locations, stopping as she laid her eyes on palm trees. Nostalgia is hitting like a truck, and the gashes are also triggering a less favorable nostalgia. "If these grow at a steady pace like they do on Earth... then we won't have to worry about starving to death. At least that much is clear." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane stopped as well, placing his hands on his hips as he did so. "Are you talking about the plants?" @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Yes. The fruit of these trees are quite edible once they have been cracked open. They also contain coconut water, which would help with dehydration." Isabelle explained. "They are quite popular in coastal regions and islands, where I happen to hail from." @Scream | Cane + Uly

The girl sitting in the sand perked up at the sound of their voices. She held a coconut close to her, almost possessive. “…hello..? Um.. w-who are you?” @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Scream | Cane + Uly

At the mention of hydration, his interest was peaked. Cane had more questions, specifically about the trees, but those would have to wait. “Is this one of your allies?” The masked man asked Isabelle in a hushed tone. Anyone and everyone could be around, so it was best that the duo kept their guard up. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

"Nope. No idea who this is." She mentioned as she turned to the cautious stranger. "Hey. We kinda just appeared here. And I'm starting to get the feeling that you're the same. I'm Isabelle. This is my new acquaintance Ser Cane." She gestured to her current companion. "What's your name?" She smiled warmly towards the girl, noting the grip on the coconut. @Scream | Cane + Uly @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

The girl looked in between the two with a curious stare. Like a cat watching a bird. She fidgeted a little before speaking, her voice very small. “…I’m Nora. …do you know…um... Miles?” @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Scream | Cane + Uly

Isabelle gave an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, I don't know anyone by that name. Is your friend trapped here too?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly (edited)

“..no.. um. A girl was… asking me to look for him.. She was mad.” She looked around a bit. “… who brought you here?” @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Strange frogling guy. He told me he took my friends too... I was looking for them when we ran into you." She chuckled. "That a coconut?" Isabelle decided to change the subject to hopfully help Nora calm down a bit. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

"It seems as though we have all been brought here for that strange person's game." Cane commented quietly as he struggled to put the pieces together himself. If what Isabelle said was true, then they all had something in common, but at the moment he had not a clue what that was, unless somehow these two were cooks as well. Strange person… a bad person? Who were they talking about? She thought for a bit. “I don’t... I haven’t seen anyone else…” She perked up a little at the coconut. “Oh! Um, yes it’s… there’s a lot of coconuts. I’ve never had one, um… they’re very good!” She still held hers possessively. @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Isabelle smiled. "I see. I don't believe you've had one either, right Ser Cane? Might as well get a drink while we're here. Hold the crab will you?" She held the crab out to him. "We'll eat the crab later." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

“Cane is fine—“ Cane tried to get his words in before the crab was unceremoniously thrust into his space. Taking the crustacean with one hand, he turned to the new person and tapped two fingers to his mask. “Mali king amin.” @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora stared at Cane. “Why does your… face…look like that?” She didn’t seem to know what a mask was. She looked curiously at the crab. “Crab… bug? How do you eat it.” @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"It's a mask." I would know I drew it :> "And don't worry about how to eat it I'll show you... once I get a coconut." She turned her gaze towards the palm trees, psyching herself up before fucking gremlin leaping onto it and scrambling up the trunk. Once at the top, it took her a moment to loosen one, but the other wouldn't budge before she ended up losing her grip and sliding down. She plopped onto the floor next to the coconut before getting to her feet with the coconut in hand. "It's okay,,, we can share." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

Were Terrans normally like this. Cane stood by awkwardly as Isabelle scaled the tree. He only moved briefly to position himself in the shade of the trunk. There was no use melting for free. Were these 'coco nuts' part of the game that they were stuck in? Turning his attention to Nora, he stared back at them through the holes in his mask. "So what planet are we on exactly?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Nora tilted her head at Isabell. And then proceeded to lasso down another coconut with ease. “Do you... want more?” She returned to staring at Cane. “What’s…a mask. I don’t know…where I am.” @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru (edited)

"Yeah we could be anywhere in the universe right now, but the environment is distinctly... Terran so to speak." She noted. Taking a step away, she yeeted the coconut against a nearby rock to crack it open. Once the outer shell was gone, she smacked it against the rock again to actually open it. She approached the group with the two halves. "One coconut should suffice, but thank you for the offer. Maybe you could answer a question of mine instead?" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

"I cannot help but feel that this environment is specifically designed to spite me." Cane commented as he looked around, just in case some more abductees scuttled by. "My mask is a cultural decoration." He attempted to explain without staring holes into Nora. "If it helps, I am just as lost as you are. I think we all are." @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

“It is not… your face? Decor… I don’t understand.” Her face scrunched a bit with confusion. She looked at the opened coconut, intrigued, then met Isabell’s eyes with that intense stare again. “What do you want?” @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Scream | Cane + Uly

"It's not a big deal, just a theory I'm working on. Do you happen to have any special abilities or powers? That question goes for Cane as well." She offered him a half of the coconut. "You should try it... if you can drink under that thing. It's quite refreshing. Helps with the spite." She didn't hesitate to down her own half of the coconut water. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

With the crab in one hand, Cane considered dropping it so that he would still have a free hand, but ultimately decided to take the offering from Isabelle. Unsure of what to do with it at first, he just held it with the same awkwardness he held the crustacean. "We Ser are known for our keen eyes and open minds." He answered, not exactly saying yes or no one way or another. "You say that this coco is safe for me to drink?" @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

She happily took the coconut, pausing before drinking from it. “Powers… yes. I- give me the bug. I can… show them.” @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Cane stared at Isabelle. "We do not have these where I am from. If they are toxic, we will find out together." @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Cheers! You can give Nora the crab." She did a little clink with the shell and chugged the rest of the water. @Scream | Cane + Uly @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

With no reluctancy on his part, he handed the strange shelled creature over to their newfound ally. Meanwhile, Cane's focus was still on the 'coco nut', and its strange scented water. The aroma was no unpleasant, but not all poisons had the luxury of stinging the nostrils. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

Nora set her coconut down and grabbed at the crab. She did not answer Isabell’s question, instead, a thin red string appeared between her fingers. As the crab flailed around she quickly tied the string tight around its claws, legs, and torso. After that she set the crab down, string in her hand like she had it on a leash. She focused hard on the crab, and after a few moments of uncanny stillness, the crab slowly snapped its claw. “I can… make magic string and… control things. Like... like a puppet.” @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"I... see." Her eyes lingered on the crab. "I also have powers, I just can't demonstrate them right now." "Did you meet the same man we did? He threatened to kill everyone or something-" @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Scream | Cane + Uly

Nora tilted her head, thinking. “Um… there was a man… who brought me here. Ra.. Rakin. He told me to fight, but, um… I did and he was mad. I… did something wrong.” She sounded confused. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru @Scream | Cane + Uly

The more things unraveled before him, the less everything made sense, like trying to put a puzzle together when all the pieces were round. So far the pieces included two Terrans, one of whom was a marionette maker, and himself. None of those things really lined up having something in common, unless this 'Rakin' was abducting everyone who had two eyes. If that was the case, then he was going to need a bigger oasis... "The only thing that is wrong is this situation we find ourselves in." Cane spoke with a tilt of his mask. "Maybe when we encounter others things will fall into place." @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺 @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

"Well you do make a point. But I can only guess that he intended for you to fight another. He was in pretty pathetic shape when he came to me as well, so you were not the only one." She squatted down in place as she started to pick at the coconut flesh. "Are you sure you don't have any powers Cane?" @Scream | Cane + Uly @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

"I am just a scholar to some, cook to others." Cane replied as he studied the coconut water. @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Nora studied the crab for a bit, getting it to move around for a bit before making it lock up. She unwound the string from its arms and legs. Just keeping it around its main body now. It was strangely still. She picked up her coconut and happily drank more of it. She didn’t really acknowledge whatever they were talking about. @Scream | Cane + Uly @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

Nora decided she wasn’t needed in the conversation anymore, taking her coconut and leaving. At least she left the crab nice and tied up for them!

Isabelle walked over and picked up the crab. "Well if I find a way to save some, I'll set some aside for her." She then turned to Cane. "Think a feeble cook can learn to cook a crab? I'm joking, we should keep moving. Looks like there's no one else here." @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane put the edge of the broken coconut up to the mouth of his mask and tilted it upward. Save for some slight spillage, most of it seemed to disappear, assumedly into the mouth, not that there was any visable opening. If Isabelle was paying close enough attention, she could probably hear Cane's tongue smacking against the roof of his actual mouth as he tried to hone in on the taste. "So this is what Terran water tastes like?" He found himself asking aloud before discarding the coconut shell. If it was poison, at least it was not unpleasant in taste, and he would not die thirsty. "Considering our company has left us, perhaps we can save the cooking lessons for after we have a better clue as to what is going on right now." @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru (edited)

It was certainly a sight. "It's what coconut water tastes like." She picked up the discarded shell. More fruit for her heheh. "We probably should. Hopefully another local around here can enlighten us." @Scream | Cane + Uly

"There are locals here? I just assumed we were all part of this weird experiment." Cane brushed a stray strand of his headdress out of his face. "You seem to know what you are talking about, so lead the way. I will keep an eye out for any more wanderers." @Gab | Ip🪩 + Subaru

That was a mistake on his part honestly. "I wouldn't say that much. I met someone who already appeared accustomed to the environment. That is all. But either way, let's go." @Scream | Cane + Uly off they go agaaaaiiiiinnnn

Kevin wandered around. Grumbling under his breath as he passed by some other people that began to group up. This was truly the first time he was off his family's farm unattended, so it was hard to gage himself how to interact with people. With a growl he punches a tree with his fist. Frustrated with his situation, wanting to ring that floating figures throat.

He jumps, whipping around to face the new voice. Tail flicking behind him as he tensed at realizing there was a new person. "...." @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane's head moved slowly, tilting upward at an angle so he could see better though the holes in his mask. This person, whoever they were, they did not look like a Terran. Still, everyone he had met so far spoke the language, so he might as well give it a try. "Are you stranded here too?" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"...you could say that." He slowly said, his gruff tone quick as he glanced the masked.. person? Up and down. "Who the are ya and why you wearing that creepy mask?" He bluntly asks, obviously not going to beat around the bush.@Scream | Cane + Uly

"Mali king amin." Cane tapped two fingers to his forehead before waving his hand in the newcomer's direction. "I am Cane. Like you, and the others, I was brought here for this game." At this point, he was considering writing a note and taping it to his face explaining the mask. Was it really that off-putting? "The mask is a cultural decoration, and it happens to protect me from this climate." @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"Ah..." He could feel his ma lightly smack the back of his head. Oh well he at least wasn't gonna miss that till he finally got back home. "You a vampire or something then?" @Scream | Cane + Uly

"Vampire..?" Cane repeated back, trying the word out for himself. "If you are asking if I am hostile, no. I am just as lost as you are. I do not suppose you know what is going on, do you?" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"...Floaty figure guy is an asshole. Thats all I know." He slowly gets back to a normal stance, arms crossed as his more animalistic features showed his agitation. @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane would ask what that meant later… “One of my allies think we all may have something in common. Forgive me if I do not see it.” He spoke, referring to the bullish features in comparison to his nonexistent ones. “Are you a Terran as well?” @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

He just looks utterly confused at the question. Tilting his head with a quirked brow at the question. "A what?" @Scream | Cane + Uly

Well, it was worth a shot. Cane simply shrugged half-heartedly. “Where did they pull you from?” @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"My family's farm. Specifically my bedroom." He shrugs. Still giving him a few glances wondering where he was going with this. @Scream | Cane + Uly

That still did not give him much to work with, nor did it help shape the puzzle pieces in this grand mystery they all found themselves in. Cane placed a hand on his hip and began to gesture freely with the other. “Did they say anything threatening to you as well, or did I get the special treatment.” @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"....don't know if it matters, but the freaky floaty figure had me chained up and was trying to fuck with my head." He tenses again, more so remembering the pain that radiated in his chest and arms when he was in that room. Stars blindly shining above uncaring of his situation. "Didn't like it when I tried to fight back. Don't know if thats what you mean by special treatment. Or whatever." @Scream | Cane + Uly

That sounded about on par with what he himself went through. So far that was four for four on abductions. Still, there were a lot of missing holes to fill in his conclusion. At this point, it might do him good to find someone who was not abducted. "Are you alright?" Cane figured he would ask. After all, he had just witnessed them attack a tree, and there was no telling how long they had been out here on their own. Judging by their tenseness, they might have experienced more than just a few lightning tricks. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

He picks up a coconut, looking at it for a moment before easily crushing it with his grip. His face doesn't change though, the semi-permanent annoyed look still there as he stares off. "Yeah. I'm fine as I can be." He huffed, whipping the coconut milk covered hand on his pants after tossing the remains of its shell to the sand below. Some of his frustration leaking though. They just wanted to go home. "You though," he starts. Slowly turning towards them straight on. "Must of received similar treatment if you're asking if I'm fine. So what happened with you?" @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane's eyes drifted briefly to the coconut in his newfound companies hand, just before it was crushed. What a perfectly good waste of that sweet tasting water. Still, he could not blame them for venting frustrations. This was quite the predicament everyone had found themselves in. "Me?" He began, his eyes refocusing and locking back with the ones staring back at him. "It would appear that I have history, whether I want to or not. If our 'friend' is true to their word, I imagine I will be one of the first to go..." Cane tapped the chin of his mask in thought. Despite openly talking about his demise, he seemed oddly calm. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"....you're weird." He says as if its the simplest thing in the world to say. Though he shrugs as he picks up a coconut and tossed it over to Cane to try and catch. Luckily there were plenty so a couple crushed coconuts wouldn't be too much of a waste. "Though my ma tells me being weird ain't a bad thing, so you're fine for now in my books." @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane caught the coconut that was lobbed his way. He did not know much about the strange rocks, but if what Isabelle taught him was true, they would be full of sweet tasting water, so at least he had that to look forward to. "What about you? Why do you think you are here?" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"Hell if I know. Probably to be a unwilling participant in whatever show the dude is running.... hm. Though... I did see this other guy in where I was held." He thinks back, rubbing his jaw in thought as he tried to recollect. "Yeah.... dude didn't look to good. Looked like he had hell beaten out of him and then beaten back in with how he looked. Think he was still breathing at least..." @Scream | Cane + Uly

Hopefully that was not one of Isabelle's allies he was talking about. "Is that the game then? Bring us here, beat us up, he wins? I assume death comes after. Does not seem much like a game, does it." Cane pondered aloud as he examined the coconut in his hands. "Sounds like something the Galleons would have dreamed up." @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"...I'm sorry the what now???" His ears flopped a bit as he looked at him quizzically again. Seeming not to know a bit about these Galleons. Gallons. Nah even Kevin didn't think he'd mishear someone that bad so he definately didn't know what the hell he was talking about. @Scream | Cane + Uly

Cane gave his company a side eye. "They are, what you would call...Aliens. Our host brought them up to me, so I am sure a few of them will be around here somewhere. I would keep my distance if you encounter one. They tend to crave violence." After he had had his fill of examining the coconut, he spoke up again. "I do not believe I caught your name." If they were going to be stuck in this hellhole together, they might as well be familiar. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin (edited)

"... do they like. Ever abduct cows?" Amazingly insightful question Kevin. When informed of how violent aliens you may possibly make contact with. Extremely riveting. "Eh who am I kidding cow tippers are more annoying probably. But yeah Kevin's the name." @Scream | Cane + Uly

He had to refrain from repeating Kevin's 'what now' words back at him. "...No, they are different; much different. They are more likely to try to impale you. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders though, Kevin. I am sure you will be fine. Although, I would like our odds better if we got to the bottom of what was going on around here. Have you encountered anyone else yet?" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"I mean I saw some other people talking bout stuff when I came around-" He leans against one of the palm trees, arms crossed again as he relaxes slightly within the shade before continuing, "-but haven't really talked to em myself. They seem as lost as us." @Scream | Cane + Uly

Well, that was no good, but it was to be expected. "I do not suppose you have any friends that happen to be standed here as well, do you?" It was a long shot, but anything was better than nothing at this point. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"Nope." He told to him straight. Whether it was just no one he knew was here or that and him being friendless possibly well, that was for Cane to find out himself. @Scream | Cane + Uly

Back to square one. "Hm, I suppose I should keep searching then." Cane gave Kevin a polite nod and moved to walk past him. "If you encounter another wanderer named 'Isabelle', feel free to inform her that I passed through here--and, good luck, Kevin." @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"... thanks. I guess don't die or whatever." He raises an eyebrow but... he did want to make sure Cane did stay safe. He might not know him well enough to like him yet, though his ma and pa taught him to at least look out for other people if they seem like the good kind of folks. He just didn't seem to know the right words to convey that. So he jusy gives him a nod before leaving the opposite way. Keeping in mind of what he said about this Isabelle person. @Scream | Cane + Uly

After waking up for an incredibly restful nap, Celena decided to wander around and see what else was in the area. She approached the palm trees and couldn’t help but smile. It had been quite a long time since she had seen one in person. Plus, there were coconuts, and it was mighty tempting to grab one. As she walked further and further, there seemed to be a tall figure perched up at the top of the trunk of one of the trees. And soon after, a coconut was thrown at her, sinking in to the sand mere inches from her with a loud thunk. The figure hadn't even glanced back at her. "Ha! There! Enjoy that coconut, it's a good one!" Tai'Tana laughed from her spot on the tree, grabbing on to another one. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Celena took a step back as the coconut landed close to her. She peered up at the figure. “O-oh- Thanks-! I actually really wanted one..” Celena leaned over and picked it up. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Good! These are delicious." Tai'Tana laughed and jumped down toward Celena. As he rushed toward the ground, sand rushed up to meet him, catching him and slowly lowering him down to the ground. He kept his stare away from Celena, but stepped closer to her. "What is your name." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Celena looked intrigued by the use of Tai’Tana’s powers, but she did feel a bit intimidated when the other approached. Still holding onto her coconut, Celena tried not to back away. “I’m- Celena. It’s nice to meet you..?” She trailed off, waiting for Tai’Tana to make an introduction. @Mads|Madison📱+Aldreda🔥+NPCS👽

"Ah. Celena. I'm Tai'Tana." They said and held out a clawed hand toward her. "Oh. And I am a caecilian. I bet you haven't seen one of me before." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Okay." Tai'Tana said and crouched down to a sitting position. She placed her hands on the ground, and the ground began to tremble. A mound of sand, sandstone, and solid rock began to rise up from around his hands, and he stood. The mound followed their hands, and formed a boulder about the size of those Target balls (you know the ones). "Here is a midsized boulder. Maybe even small. Actually, yes, this is a small boulder. Okay. Okay. When Celena said a boulder, maybe she imagined a decently sized rock. There weren't many palm trees, but there were enough to get some leaves from. If he squinted far enough, he could see the horizon stretch on endlessly. Damn. Guess that was another side to this hell maze. As he started to gather some fallen leaves (and considered gathering some coconuts- could go good with the crabs), he noticed someone sitting down off in the distance. That wouldn't be too concerning- other contestant, spawned here, et cetera. No, it was the fact that light was shimmering down on them, like some holy being. Nathan blinked, a little surprised, and a lot more concerned than he should have been. They've were in a death contest in space. This should not have been as surprising as it was. Celena watched as Nathan gathered another coconut. She nodded her head in a silent applause. "Oh.. No escape, huh..? Okay, well- Huh.. I was really hoping for some way out." She cleared her throat. "I will most certainly try to remember," he said, the corner of his mouth quirking up in a small smile. "That is, if I manage to remember. Concussion and all. Bonk bonk." Dropping that one into the grass, Nathan also managed to gather the third and last one without any injury. "Uh, I walked. Llinos, toadling around here, don't say frogling to her face- or at ALL near her, really -told me to walk. And I walked. And the horizon like, immediately turned into a big stone wall that just goes up, and up, and up. We're trapped in a maze, after all. Tournament! Funnn." Chucking that one at the ground as hard as he could, Nathan flashed a thumbs-up at Celena. "Leaves," he said, miserable but grinning. "And coconut." He began undoing his jacket to hold all the coconuts together as he dropped to his knees, continuing, "that should be enough. Nice old coconut and crabs and stuff. Hell yeah." Celena fought back a wider smile. "Well, I'll be around to remind you, okay? How does that sound?" "A.. Toadling? I don't think I know what that is. But, uhm, I'm glad she gave you a bit of information about it. I guess we are in a maze." The girl frowned. "This isn't a-maze-ing." She made a face. Nathan laughed, loud and sharp, fully beaming at this point. "Yeah, that's a deal," he chuckled. "Uh, Toadlins are like, guys here, I guess. Like, the green-haired kid from earlier? Like, back in the square room? He's a Frogling. And, uh, Toadlins really, really don't like them for some reason." A little halfhearted shrug, followed by a sharp exhale of air that leaned more into a laugh than anything. "Yeah, no, this like, isn't a-maze-ing at all. Farrr from it. Snf. It is a-shit-ting maze, though. Not even a maze." Not even a pun, either. "Oh, no worries," he reassured, tying the coconuts up within his jacket. They stood, slinging it over his shoulder as he went to pat her shoulder, before promptly pulling back to pat the leaves instead. Celena frowned slightly as she listened in. "Oh- So, Llinos is like the green haired person, okay. And Toadlins and Froglings hate each other, alright. I'll remember that, I'll keep that in mind." "A little...bit? I'm not sure, either. Didn't pay much attention to the Frogling guy- uh, his name is Rakin. Didn't pay much attention to him, regardless." Nathan smiled briefly at Celena's response before humming a little, scratching their chin. "The farm- shouldn't be too far away. We could check out the farm and stuff, maybe get some stuff if you want too. Hopefully we'd be inside before the storm gets nasty." And also find Isabelle, oh, and boulder guy. "He didn't really talk to me much about it. That didn't really come up in our conversation." Celena adjusted her hold on the bundle of leaves. "I'd like that a lot if we could check it out," Celena beamed, unable to keep herself from smiling brightly. She definitely was eager to check out the farmland. "I'm sure we'll make it before the storm hits, we don't have to be there too long. We can just grab a couple of things and then leave, maybe." Ah, yes. The conversation. Nathan grimaced, painfully at the memory, some disdainful crackle coming from the back of his throat. "Yeahhh, the conversation," he slowly said, "which I totally had with him. Didn't come up either, nope." Shaking his head from the memory, Nathan started walking, gesturing for Celena to follow along. "Yeah, totally. Didn't look around much, but it should be pretty packed with veg." After leaving Aldreda, Calamity went on her merry way, taking in the sights her side of the maze had to offer… …Which should not include the clouds singing warnings of a nasty storm. Truly ruining her fun! Though she had told both Moses and Aldreda that she’s meet them back at that shelter-looking thing. Eventually. Her silent musings were cut short as she passed by a mass of palm trees, her pace quickening as the sky darkened. Even with the dreary sky, however, she could still make out a figure standing out amongst the trees. “Hey, you! Red!” she yelled out to them, the wind nearly carrying her shouts away. It was once she got closer did she raise her hands, just in case they mistook her as hostile (she was a dignified demon, she didn’t feel like engaging in anything violent unless provoked… or asked nicely). “You planning to stay out in this storm or what?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran eyed the tall palm trees curiously. Their tail was twitching and slowly squirming from side to side. They still weren't wearing a thing; their wet, sandy clothes, slightly slimy from algae, were loosely hanging from their grip as they stood, head tilted back and looking at the large leaves above. When they heard someone calling, they turned their head, even though they weren't sure that someone was talking to them. When they saw Calamity approaching and looking at them, they hummed. "Red? That's a pretty fun name", they mused. "I don't know. I might go under the bridge if it gets bad. I wanted to try and climb a tree." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Calamity grinned. “Well, I needed to call you something to get your attention! Next time I can use your real name if you’d like, no promises though- I do loooove my nicknames,” she hummed, then glanced at the palm trees, and back at Kiran. “Hmm, I don’t know how much a bridge will protect you from a storm like that… but I like the way you think! A storm can’t ruin your plans! I know of a shelter not too far from here, aaaand lucky for you, I’m heading that way in a bit, if you’d like to hide out there until this nasty weather clears,” she clicked her tongue, eyeing Kiran with interest. She then dropped to the ground, sitting criss-cross-applesauce and extending her wings just enough so they didn’t dig into the sand. “After you tell me about your plans to climb a tree.” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran grunted and tilted their head slightly, eyeing Calamity with mild interest, though it didn't show in their hooded eyes and slightly furrowed eyebrows. "Whatever. People call me whatever they like anyway. But my name is Kiran, if you care." They glanced back towards the beack, where Mallon was sheltering under the bridge, and hummed. "You think so? Hrm. It was a better idea than staying in a tree. But I guess if there's a shelter... I'm guessing everyone else is there too?" they turned to look at Calamity with a bit of an annoyed expression. "Hm, there's not much of a plan. I was just going to climb up." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Calamity clasped her hands together. “Well, Kiran, it’s soo lovely to meet you! I’m Calamity,” she didn’t look up this time, as she was using a clawed finger to draw a palm tree in the sand. “I know two people will for-sure be there, though honestly…” the demon shrugged. “…I’m not even sure how many people there are in all on this beach. No matter! I’m sure it’ll be fineeeee… so, back to the important questions- you any good at climbing?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran didn't exactly reply to the introductiin, but acknowledged Calamity's name with a small nod. "Eh, guess it's better than being struck by a lightning", Kiran shrugged. "Climbing is second nature to my species. I usually climb buildings where I'm from, but... I have a faint memory I've climbed a tree before. I kind of, really want to try", they looked up at the trees again. "I just started hesitating with the clouds getting closer." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“It is! You’ve gotta wait at least until all the fun stuff starts happening here! Whatever that is… and whenever it is…” Calamity mused. “I’d say you still have a little time before the storm hits, so I’d say go for it! Kiran let out a dry laugh. "Yeeah, we'll see how fun it's going to be." They looked back at Calamity, then at the clouds, then at the clothes in their hand. "Hrmm... well, I guess you're right." They looked back at Calamity for a moment, like they were trying to figure her out, and shifted their weight a bit, their tail lightly swishing and twisting behind them. "Um... would you hold my clothes while I try climbing up? I wouldn't like them getting even more dirty." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Can’t knock it till you try it!” the demon chirped back. To Kiran’s request, she nodded enthusiastically. “Of course I can! Hmm, what even happened to ‘em in the first place?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I woke up on the beach. They're full of sand. My clothes are made of metal so when sand gets into the fabric, it's really hard to get out, turns out... I tried washing them but I feel like they just got worse", Kiran grumbled and offered the bundle of heavy clothing items for Calamity to hold. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Hmm… that’s quite the predicament. Metal clothing, huh… I’ve never heard of something like that- minus armor, of course,” Calamity paused to reach out and take the clothing from Kiran, lifting the articles with such ease that any onlooker could be fooled into thinking the clothes were made of a much lighter material. “Though this seeks different- veeeery stylish! I suppose it’s a given, but you’re definitely not from Earth, are you?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Mhm", Kiran nodded. "Thanks. And yup, it's not really an armor. I don't really know how it's made, but it's pretty comfortable." For someone with no exposed skin at least. "Yeah, I'm not, I'm from Velos. It's in the middle of nowhere, so I'm not surprised if you haven't heard of it. You are from Earth?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien (edited)

“Interesting! Soo, this kind of attire is common for Velos I’m guessing? Regardless, it’s veeeery cool! You’ve got quite the ensemble, Kiran!” She studied the pile of clothing in her hands before looking back at Kiran to see if they’d made any progress. “As for me, I’m not exactly from earth, per se,” the demon grinned to show off her fangs, then extended her wings to their full wingspan. “I’m a demon, so I reside somewhere else entirely- but! Earth is my home planet, I suppose. Though your typical earthling wouldn’t have horns, wings, fangs, or a tail. Or be bright pink! What a shame!” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Nn... not... really. It's- hmmh..." they mumbled, but stopped themself from explaining further. Kiran's eyes widened slightly, and they made a small, bird-like squall in response to Calamity's explanation. "...Huh. I wasn't expecting that. You kind of look like a human. Except the horns and the tail and the wings... but then again that Isuki guy or whatever his name was also had a tail. But he wasn't a human. He mimics a human. He's... something else. I forgot. “Hm?” the demon raised an eyebrow, but decided on not pushing the subject. “You think I look like a human? I mean… I do suppose you’re right,” she clicked her tongue. “Some guy named Itsuki mimics what a human looks like? Interesting! Soooo you’ve met a couple of people so far on this beach. "Yup. I don't think I've seen a real human ever, though, so I wouldn't know for sure", Kiran admitted. "I met a few. Itsuki and then a couple other ones. I didn't ask what their species were, but they surely weren't from Velos. One might have been... Ser? That might be the word? Oh, actually the guy who woke me up could have been a human now that I think of it", Kiran pondered. "I don't know. They were fine. Nobody has attacked me or anything. Interesting, interesting,” Calamity mused. “I don’t think I’ve met any of the people you mentioned, but from what you’re telling me, they must be from their own worlds separate from Earth. “I have to agree, a lot of the people here have been rather amicable. "Yeah, one was from Earth too, I think. Cane wasn't. I dunno." "Well, mr. Green Man told me most people here aren't really fighters so I guess that's why. I don't see the point in pitting a bunch of chill people against each other, though." Kiran blinked, and gave Calamity a look when she suddenly changed the subject. Then, they chuckled dryly. "Well, I haven't started yet." Kiran looked at the tree he had been eyeing earlier, and stepped next to it. They tilted their head back to see the top leaves, and placed their hand on the trunk. It felt... good. Different than the artificial walls Kiran was used to climbing. The hairs on their palm gripped onto the bark better than on any stone, steel or glass surface, and it felt natural... almost comforting in a way. A certain thrill streamed from their hand up their arm and throughout their body. Their tail swished, and they gripped the bard lightly with their claws. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Ohhhhhhhh Rakin! He was such a buzzkill when we chatted. You know… I’m not very fond of violence if there isn’t a reason, and you’re quite right- everyone has been rather amicable,” another click of Calamity’s tongue indicated a change in subject. “I know, silly! I’m simply encouraging you to start! We can’t wait around forever while this storm looms over us-“ she held her thought as Kiran began to scale the tree. “There you go!! So, is it everything you remember and more?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran hummed. "Funny that you would say that..." The touch of bark did stir something in their memory. Scents, earthy and dappled with light through the leaves. Fresh fruit and warm fur... real fur. Faint, distant ghosts of memories, from times when they were happy. Kiran couldn't quite recall that feeling, but the sense of familiarity and safety in the hide of the tree gave them comfort. They knocked their feet against the trunk, and shook them to get dirt off of them. Then, they put their other hand on the tree, jumped lightly and gripped on with their feet as well. They shifted and shook their limbs a little more to make sure they were getting a proper grasp. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Mm, felt like I should ask,” Calamity’s voice now didn’t sound below Kiran, but… above them. The demon was hovering a few feet above the tree, her bright pink wings flapping quickly in the air as she fought the wind. The wind seemingly had picked up. “You said you usually climb buildings, is the tree any different?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran lifted their head in surprise, and looked up where Calamity's voice came from. "Hmh", they smirked slightly. "It feels different. Softer. I get a petter grip." They shifted their posture a little, strained their limbs, dug their claws into the bark... And shot up the tree, running like it was flat ground. They jumped up once they reached the top, crashing through the leaves, and almost got swept away by the wind. "Whoa!" They twisted and scrambled, grasping onto the large leaves. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Ah!” Calamity smiled, and opened her mouth to speak, but was instead hit with a gust of wind to her face, tousling her once neat curled hair. “Ugh, this wind! You hanging in there, Kiran?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran grit their teeth and pulled themself to the middle of the leaves, where they could hold onto the treetop. "Yeah. This is, wow." Their artificial heart was beating fast, and they felt the thrill of fear and excitement as they sat atop the swaying tree, watching the dark, churning clouds crawl closer across the sky. "Wow!" Calamity let out an excited laugh before clapping her hands together in glee. She then dove downward and out of Kiran’s line of sight, but a few moments later they’d feel slightly more stable perched atop the palm tree. “Take it all in!” Calamity chirped, now directly under Kiran as she pooled a good portion of her strength into keeping the tree stable. “See anything cool???” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran glanced down to where Calamity's voice was coming from, taking a second to process what she was doing. They chuckled, and took a firm grip of the tree with their feet, held onto one sturdy stalk of a leaf with their tail, and slowly stood up. They stood, facing the storm and enjoying the rebellious feeling of braving the forceful winds. Aside from swaying trees and crashing waves, there wasn't a lot to see. The storm was looming imminent, and though it made Kiran want to stay and wait what would happen if they remained there, they knew it would be better to leave soon. They saw many people still loitering around, and making their way somewhere. Mallon seemed to be one of them. "The clouds are pretty cool, and the forest", Kiran replied, and stayed for a moment just enjoying the electrifying thrill of the moment, before crouching down. "I saw a few people too. Not a lot, though, others have probably gone to some shelter." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Getting brave, eh?” Calamity grinned as Kiran stood up, still doing her best to steady the tree as she fought the wind. Their excitement was infectious, as the demon continued to sport a smile while they talked. “The sky is really pretty,” she admitted, listening to Kiran describe what they were seeing. “Oh! And you saw people still around? Hmm, anyone you know?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Mallon, I think. They said they'd be under the bridge, but I guess they changed their mind." Kiran wrapped their tail tighter around the leaf, and flattened lower against the treetop when a strong gust of wind rushed against them, fluttering their mane. At least this was a good way to dry off after the dip into the stream. Well, until it would start raining. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh! Maybe they’re seeking shelter,” Calamity hummed, bracing herself for the wind that continued to beat against the tree. “Might be wise for us to follow suit soon too, what do you think?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Yeah, it's going to rain any second now", Kiran admitted. They gripped the tree tightly as they started wiggling through the leaves and back down the tree trunk. "Hm. Thanks for holding the tree", they hummed off-handedly while passing Calamity. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Of course!” Calamity chirped, letting go of the tree the moment Kiran kept off it. It made a sickening snap as it started to flail in the direction of the wind. “Sooooo the shelter is that way,” she narrated as she pointed in the direction where Kiran would’ve spotted a structure. “It’s not a far walk either. You up for it?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"I guess so. If Mallon left the bridge too, I guess there's nowhere else to go", Kiran shrugged. The crack of thunder made them flinch slightly and g lance up nervously. It might be good to leave the tall trees now. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Ooooh yeah, probably,” the demon shrugged as she glanced at the bridge, just to confirm that Kiran’s acquaintance had vacated the premises. She couldn’t see much from the darkening sky… “You and this Mallon person seem pretty close. Where I wouldn’t toooootally advise it, do you want to double check that they’re not here?” she suggested as she tossed back a ruined curl behind her shoulders. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran let out a short, loud laugh, although seemed a bit taken aback by it themself afterwards and a little embarrassed. They shook their head. "We're not close. We just met. They offered a shelter in their hidey hole, that's all", Kiran shrugged. "I saw them moving across the shore while I was up. I'm sure they're not there anymore." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Weeeell, it’s all the same to me! Whether you’ve just met or had a few non hostile conversations, closeness in a place like this is important! Until it’s not.” Calamity shrugged, and took a mental note of her description. Emotional attachment amongst torture would be quite the new experience for her sinners! “Hopefully they took shelter, then, but if we see them on our way to the shelter, don’t be afraid to yell it out! There’s something about strength in numbers, yanno!” her singsong voice was carried off by the wind as she started walking, beckoning for Kiran to follow. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Eh. We're gonna die soon anyway. I don't see the point", Kiran grumbled. They started following her, their previous excitement now fully washed away, leaving them look gloomy like the storm clouds above. "Mmhm, sure sure." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Calamity stopped in her tracks to whirl around and face Kiran. “Aw! Don’t look so glum about it- sure the prospect of it totally suuuuuucks, but there’s always the chance that we don’t! Plus, spending your last moments in agony is no fun either,” she leaned down to ruffle their mane. “You see, if I’m going out, it’s going to be spectacular! We’re talking dramatics- we’re talking the biggest budget imaginable! Not that I personally think I’ll end up like that- but you never know. Might as well have fun in the meantime, climb a few trees, and live a little! The torture maze doesn’t have to be so bad!” she seemed awfully cheery for such a dire situation, but all her words seemed to be genuine, as if trying to make Kiran feel at least a little better. @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran stopped and started back like a spooked horse when Calamity suddenly turned around. They remained wide-eyed and blinking, bemused, while the other blabbered and fluffed their mane. Kiran grunted and frowned, stepping back and putting both hands on their head, beginning to style the strands back to their original shape, although the wind had already done some and was still continuing to do some of its own stylizing. "Yeeeah... Awesome", they replied listlessly, but glanced at the surrounding palms. "Hm, though I do want to climb more trees before I go." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Calamity clasped her hands together enthusiastically. “So awesome! Now that’s the spirit! Hmm, I’d say logically speaking, we should be fine until it starts raining, so we still have some time left. I can even hold the trunk for you if the wind picks up again, she hummed, then paused. “Aaaaand not only that, but I have an itty bitty challenge for you…” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran was about to decline, but at the mention of a challenge they quirked an eyebrow. "Hmm? What's that?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Calamity’s tail flicked back and forth is amusement. “Easy! I challenge you to climb that tree over there!” A clawed finger extended to point at a palm tree that was much taller than the other ones around it. “If you’re wanting to climb more trees before your time’s up, why not go for the biggest challenge while you still got it?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran looked towards the large tree that loomed above the others, reaching into the rumbling, murky clouds. They frowned in hesitation. "Not maybe the best time to do that..." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Hmm, I suppose, I suppose,” Calamity hummed, slightly in disappointment, then snapped her fingers. “If that’s the case, that may just have to be a task for later!” she continued walking. “Guess it’s back to the shelter then?” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

"Yup. Climbing that is easy. I'll get to it once we're not about to get struck by lightning any second." They nodded. "Yup. Let's go." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Kiran was right, it was seemingly getting worse by the second. “Yeahhhhhh, might as well get a move on. Oh!” a mischievous grin spread across her face as she immediately took off running in the direction of the shelter in the distance. “Race you there!” @Twig | Kiran + Riki

Kiran looked after Calamity slightly baffled, but smirked. "Hmf." They lunged forward on all fours, running after the other. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Something must’ve gone wrong when Julien spawned in to the warmer side of the maze… as when he zapped in, he found himself on top of one of the palm trees. This… didn’t last long, as the storm had already worn it down to the point that when his weight was thrust upon it, the palm tree bent over, and then snapped. “Shit!” Julien let out a garbled cry as he fell onto the sand, then rolled over onto his back. At least this place wasn’t cold, but now every bone, muscle, and joint in his body were screaming at him. Might as well just lay in the sand until the pain faded… @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien, who had been leaning against the wall when he was teleported, had also fallen over into the sand. He was just sitting up as he noticed Julien in the tree, and then falling out of the tree. He was about to call out before the guy fell, but just cringed slightly instead as he fell. He sat up more fully, looking at the figure sprawled a few feet away. "Dude- you okay?" He asked, genuinely concerned. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

That was embarrassing. Julien remained laying on the sand, though he held up his arms and gave the stranger a thumbs-up. After a few moments, his arm dropped back to his side, and he tried his best to sit up, joints cracking loudly in the process. “Yeah, I’m okay- huh…” he paused, finally taking in the scenery. It was warm, unlike where he’d been before, and most strikingly, Ulysses was nowhere to be seen. Instead, there was someone else here, who seemed to be eyeing him with worry. “…I wouldn’t recommend being teleported on top of a palm tree that’s about to go down. Horrible for the back.” Julien joked as he made his way towards Damien, deciding it was best to try to make light of the situation. @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damiens mouth quirked up in a bit of a smile. "Wouldn't recommend leaning against anything when you're teleported either. Tends to disappear on you." He looked Julien up and down. "Haven't seen you around here. You one of the guys who switched sides?" Damien seemed game for lightening the mood despite a slight edge to his tone that suggested he didn't take what happened in the arena lightly. He didn't move away as Julien made his way towards him. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

"I think everyone's kept enough on their toes by what we just saw, but whatever floats their boat I guess." Damien shrugged, taking a moment to get some sand out of his hair. "Oh, Damien" he added on with a smile and a nod. "Julien, huh? What's it like on the other side?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien nodded, then sighed. “That fight was… a lot. On top of everything else going on…” he shook his head. Both he and Damien had witnessed it, so it wasn’t worth bringing it up in full. “Damien- that’s a cool name,” he smiled. “And uh, for starters, that other side is like, the total opposite of here. It’s cold and dark, I spent most of my time there in some sort of bunker. Though I gotta say, it looks like a tornado came through here- did you guys get a storm recently?” @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien nodded at Juliens remark about the fight. Nothing to really add on there. He looked interested in the description of the other side. "Damn. Glad I landed here, I guess. I'll take this over being freezing any day." He nodded again. "Yeah, we did. It was really wild, but I've dealt with storms before- just used to a little more shelter." It did look like he'd dealt with storms in the most dealt-with way possible, considering the branching scarring down his neck. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Yeah, I’m with you there. I’ve always liked warm weather more, so hopefully they don’t zap me back anytime soon,” Julien nodded in agreement, still surveying the wreckage around them. “Damn, it sure did a lot of damage. I’m guessing you had like, a shelter or something to stay in?” surely Rakin and co weren’t that mean. He met Damien’s eyes, glancing for only a moment at the scars that ran down his neck. They didn’t seem new, so they couldn’t be from that storm that swept the beach, but he wouldn’t ask about them just yet. @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien nodded in agreement, hoping not to be involved in a side switch himself considering this new information. "Yeah there's an old building or two that we could shelter in. They weren't great at keeping the water out though." Damien stretched. "Did yall have an okay time keeping out the cold over there? Get any snow storms?" This was all small talk it felt like, but honestly that typa thing felt nice considering their circumstances. like a break. Julien was nice at least. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Hm, that’s not too bad. I mean… still not great, but… it’s like, the lesser of two evils, I guess…” Julien shrugged. “…I didn’t really get out at all when I was on the other side, I got lucky enough to be immediately thrown into some sort of building, and didn’t really feel like venturing anywhere. I’d just been sewn up by that Rakin guy and the first person I met on that side was an AI of a football player, so I was already a little occupied,” he laughed dryly. Obviously nothing normal could happen in this damned maze. “Anything of note happen over here to you?” @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien listened closely, raising an eyebrow at the 'AI football player' bit. "Rakin? Should I know who that is?" Maybe he just hasn't been paying attention but he sure as hell hasn't met this guy. "Well, I was introduced to this whole thing by a floaty six-eye dude who really didn't like what I had to say, threw me on the beach after beating me up a bit. I met a few guys, and another girl- I think she ended up getting stuck on your side after the fight. Haven't done much except try not to get sunburn" he replied, the last comment was probably meant to lighten the rest of it. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t met Rakin? He’s got green hair, burn marks all over… totally open shirt- wait, you were abducted by someone else?” he shook his head, his smile returning a few moments later. “Hey, sunburns are no joke, so that’s definitely a smart move. Damiens eyes went a bit wide. "Wait- wait that was Rakin? I- he was in the room where I got abducted, i think, but he was unconscious, I assumed he got beat up by the guy who abducted me." Damien shook his head slightly. Seemed like it wasn't exactly a pleasant interaction, whatever had happened with the floaty guy who got him. The easy smile and gaze returned moments later though. "Ha, nope. The waters nice for swimming in though, and there's fish n vegetables, stuff like that for food. Did they give you guys anything for the cold?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien’s eyes widened. “Damn… weird stuff going on here,” he said quickly, eager to switch the subject as much as Damien. As soon as the other man mentioned provisions and accommodations for each side, Julien began to feel incredibly warm. Sure he’d been feeling that way the whole time, but he’d chalked it up to the weather of the new location. However… a a quick glance at his arms revealed that he was still wearing the winter coat provided to each contestant in the B side. “They gave me this coat… but I think that’s it,” he chuckled as he peeled it off him. “You guys seem pretty set here, so that’s a plus. If you ignore the storm and the whole… maze situation, this place almost seems like somewhere you’d want to take a vacation. He just nodded in agreement at the first remark. Damien smiled back. "Yeah, something straight out of Survivor. It's not so bad most of the time, but it does sound like my side ended up better off than yours aside from the massive storm." Damien looked at the coat. It seemed to fit Julien extremely well, which is why he'd assumed it was Julien's in the first place and not given to him. Did the coat just happen to fit that well? @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“We’re just living a very fucked up version of Survivor… Damien, you’re a genius,” Julien nodded sagely. Maybe this whole thing was also being recorded? “Hopefully this place isn’t prone to that kinda stuff. Damien chuckled. "I have my moments." "Well, I feel like the people who stuck us here have a decent amount of control over what happens, and they do need us to stay alive for a bit- I wouldn't worry about it a ton. Damien smiled and nodded, though it looked a bit more forced. He had people he wanted to see again. "Nice enough, Weird guys though. One of them is named Itsuki, don't think I got the other guys name. The girl I met, she was just a kid, and having a really rough time." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“There’s a kid here?” Julien’s eyes widened slightly. “Damn, that’s gotta be horrible for her,” he shook his head, then looked back at Damien. “It seems like ‘weird’ is a common factor between both sides- seriously, I think you’re the most normal person I’ve met here.” @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien shook his head in agreement with Julien about the kid. He grinned a little bit at the 'most normal' comment. "Man, don't get that one a lot, but I have to agree honestly, there's such an elevated level of weird here. You're not so abnormal yourself, compared to it all." With Julien's coat off, Damien could notice the various scars that littered his body, not to mention the ones on his face. Not normally something people wanted to talk about though, Damien understood that enough from having two friends back home with plenty of scarring themselves. So, Damien could honestly say that Julien wasn't so abnormal, especially not compared to amphibian people and such. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien let out a small laugh. “I don’t really get that much either, but the sentiment is very much appreciated. I guess in a world full of ‘weird’, you take what you can get, right?” he combed a hand through his hair, which had tangled by now. “What did you do before you ended up here…?” it was a fairly normal question to ask, but if he could revel in a semi regular conversation, he decided that he would. Damien was nice enough, and it seemed he was on the same page. @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien frowned as if it was difficult to remember or something. "Have a pretty standard research job, internship type thing. I go see my boyfriend a lot. I haven't been focusing on work too much, a friend of mine went missing and I've been looking for him. He's tough though, he'll be okay." Damien replied. He seemed to have an appropriate amount of apologetic solemness in revealing that his friend was missing, but there was some denial in that last statement. All in all, since he shared it it was super likely it was some big secret in his life. "How about you? You look like the type to have pretty neat stuff going on" Damien asked, meeting Julien's eyes with a smile. Damien seemed happy to conversate, at ease. Honestly, this was probably the nicest interaction he'd had since coming here. @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh! What was your internship like? And your boyfriend- what’s he like?” Julien’s eyes lit up as he nearly rapid-fired questions at Damien, before a worried expression took its place. “…That’s really unfortunate though that your friend went missing. I’m sure he’s out there somewhere, and if he’s anything like you, he’s probably really resilient.” Julien recognized Damien’s expression, and after taking a few moments to think it over, he decided it was only fair to share his own secret. “And yeah, you guessed right, I’ve got some going on too,” he laughed dryly, but still kept up a small smile. “I uh… I was involved with some not-so-great people for years, and didn’t realize it until it was too late. I… died, about three years ago now, but something or someone brought me back. I still don’t know why, and I don’t know if I ever will, but hey, a second chance is a second chance, right?” @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien's smile grew a bit warmer at the rapid questions. He liked that Julien didn't seem to be faking interest or anything, or at the very least wanted to keep talking. He stared out at the sky for a moment. "The internship- it's pretty nice sometimes, I look into stuff that's freaking people out, disproving, or sometimes finding proof for things that shouldn't be real. It's kindof a mess to explain" he gave a little chuckle. "My boyfriend? He's the best. His name's Jad, sweetest guy you'll ever meet. He's quiet, but if you get him talking about something he really likes I swear he forgets to breathe sometimes. He loves romcoms, but he gets embarrassed about it even though I like them too" Damien replied. Funnily enough, it seemed like he hardly took a breath when talking about Jad, like it all came spilling out. He stopped himself, though. He smiled a bit as Julien talked about his friend. "They're more resilient, definitely." He listened to Julien talk about his life, leaning forward a bit. "Brought you back to life?" He repeated. "Well, that certainly is pretty dang neat. I'm sorry you died in the first place though, can't say I've ever died but I doubt it's much fun." He nodded at the last bit. "Absolutely." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Just from their one interaction, it wasn’t hard to notice how good of a fit Jad and Damien were. “Jad sounds like a great guy, and he’s very lucky to have you. How did you two meet? After screaming and cursing everything at the dead farmland, kicking dead trees and accidentally causing a bunch of spores to choke them, they had retreated here. Isabelle avoided the gaze, noting the attempt to clothe themselves. "Simply a proposition. My name is Isabelle. I was hoping to find people to gather in the dining hall. For a meal. Altogether." It was definitely not for a meal, but Isabelle was unsure of saying things out loud without the static. "This keeps Alrai Pin from listening to us. Dr. Lykos and I have agreed to gather as many as we can into the dining hall to come up with a plan. A plan to fight back and get us out of here.
