Here we are at the stream! Jymaiyri had walked carefully over, taking care not to disturb the baby. When the reached the stream, she crouched down near the water and peered into it, thinking. "Hmmm..." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian was just as careful walking along with Jymaiyri, humming quietly as he watched the older woman. He stood by her side, slightly bent over, but not too much. He stole a couple glances at Minerva's sleeping face as well, smiling as he saw how peaceful she looked. Patiently, he waited to see what Jymaiyri would do. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Minerva was very peaceful, especially when Jymaiyri bent over in a way that cast a shadow over her little sling, and the sun was out of her face. Jymaiyri dipped her hands in the water, and splayed out her fingers, digging one hand in the silt and keeping the other afloat. Very slowly, a leafy, flowering plant sprung from the silty stream bottom. Jymaiyri's face was stern with focus, and her progress was slow, but it looked like what Kian was hoping for. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Intently, Kian watched Jymaiyri. He focused on each little move of her fingers and hand, counting the seconds between each movement. When the stem and leaves became visible in the shallow water, Kian's eyes widened with amazement. "O-Oh—Oh, my goodness! You made it, Miss Jymaiyri! Look, it's coming out!" He beamed and pointed at the flower right in front of them. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Hah, I guess I did." Jymaiyri smiled, and put in just enough more effort to help the flower bloom. "There ya go. One montsechia vidalii. Yours to do whatever you want with- but, remember, my plants don't last forever. You might wanna be careful with it." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

His face lit up with joy as Jymaiyri handed him the flower, and Kian eagerly accepted it. "Mhm! Thank you so much, Miss Jymaiyri!!" Kian giggled. He looked over the flower with intrigue. He had only seen one before when Cansu had shown him the one Persis made him, so it was interesting to see someone else's take on the flower. Carefully, Kian put the flower into the pocket of his vest before squatting down by the river like Jymaiyri was. He put his hand into the water, focusing... but nothing. Kian let out a small, frustrated sigh as he retracted his hand, shaking off the water. "Nope, nothing.." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Of course," Jymaiyri smiled weakly, and dried her hand off on her pants. "It's alright- no one's perfect on their first try with something." Jymaiyri reassured. "You'll get it eventually." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

The boy sighed, a look of disappointment on his face. "I-I know.. but it's been almost over 200 years now, a-and I still can't make a single flower bloom when I want to," Kian pouted as he wiped his hand on his cape. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri didn't know exactly how to reassure Kian. "I'm sorry. I... don't know how to teach you." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian sighed again and shook his head, before giving Jymaiyri a small smile. "It's okay, Miss Jymaiyri.. I-It's not up to you to teach me something like this. N-No one, really. I just got to train and study harder!" He said, boosting himself up with a thin layer of confidence. "That's what my teacher would say i-if he was here. He'd reprimand me if he ever saw me slacking off," Kian chuckled softly. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"That's the spirit," Jymaiyri agreed weakly. "But it's okay to take a break sometimes. You won't get anywhere if you never rest, you'll just burn yourself out." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Oh, if only Jymaiyri knew how true that statement was for Kian. "Y-Yeah.. I know. My mother always told me to take it step by step.. but it's just very.. frustrating," Kian sighed. "D-Did you ever have trouble learning to control your powers, Miss Jymaiyri..? What did you do to get over it?" He curiously asked the older woman. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Well, I've had my powers since I was born, so most of my learning was done when I was a little kid," Jymaiyri said, "But for me, I've found that studying plants- their biology, their life cycles- and really understanding them was the most beneficial." She paused. "It's also... very possible that your uncle's powers functioned in a way completely different to mine. What works for me might not work for you." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian hummed as he followed along to Jymaiyri's words, again, listening very intently to her. He nodded, showing to her that he was paying attention and the same determined look came onto his face again. "I-I see.. I have to understand the flowers," he said in all seriousness. "E-Even if it is different, it's good to hear advice from multiple people. My uncle.. he gave me his powers w-without even telling me he would give them to me. There was no explanation given a-and since no one else had his power before him back home, I didn't really know how to use it.. I-I think just having the powers allowed for everything he made to stay alive as long as I did.. But that doesn't really help in making new things." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri managed a weak laugh. "Yeah. Maybe once we get out of here, I can lend you some of my old botany textbooks." "Hmm... that is tough." She hummed in though. "Though, who knows, maybe what I do will applicable for you, too." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

His eyes brightened at that. "R-Really? I would appreciate that very much, Miss Jymaiyri! Thank you!" Kian smiled and bowed his head towards her. He lifted his head soon after, a new sense of enthusiasm running through him. "I hope a-at least some of it will be. I haven't had a proper teacher in so long, so self study is all I am able to do between my journey. I-I like to think I have improved somewhat.." "Of course. I mean, right now they're just collecting dust on my shelf." Jymaiyri hummed. "Self-study can definitely be useful. I mean, it's how I figured out most of my stuff. I think Yeonai was the same, he didn't know anyone else with powers like his either..." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"Right.. H-Hopefully that means I can be as successful as you two were, Miss Jymairyi," Kian smiled. "Are there a lot of people like you back in Loucari..? W-With powers and such?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri withheld a comment about Yeonaixho maybe not being as good of a healer as everyone thought, seeing as he never even healed himself when he was dying on the titanic back there. "Hmmm... in the South Loucari there are, especially among noble bloodlines like my own. They're less common in the north, where Yeonai's from. And almost all the corvi have powers, or so I've heard." She explained. "I've noticed it's a bit more random in the Loucari- who had powers and who doesn't." @ajjjjjjjj (edited)

Kian blinked, then blinked again as he looked at Jymaiyri. "Y-You are of noble blood, Miss Jymairyi???" He asked in shock. "A princess of s-sorts? Or a noblewoman??" He hadn't been polite with Jymairyi at all if she is of royal descent! Oh, he can just hear his mother's lectures right now! Where had all of his years of prince training gone? It seemed like Kian was more focused on the first half of Jymaiyri's statement than the latter half, visibly stressed about it.@innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Oh, uh- yeah. Technically, I'm a noblewoman, my father is the Earl of House Naido." Jymaiyri explained awkwardly. "But I'm kind of- estranged? So it's all okay. I don't expect people to be using all my fancy titles, anyways ." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Flabbergasted, Kian sat up straighter on the ground and bowed his head several times to Jymaiyri. "O-Oh, forgive my manners, Miss Jymaiyri! Even estranged, my mother raised me better than this. I hope you will pardon my informality," he rambled. Though, Kian did take a second to process Jymaiyri's exact title. "House of Naido.. Hm, I-I see. Yes, I believe I have read something of the sort back home when I did my research on Loucari. How interesting.." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri was very clearly uncomfortable, and shifted Minerva's sling. "Please. I don't want to be associated with that lineage anymore. You don't have to treat me any differently." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian still sat pretty straight despite Jymaiyri's words, but nodded once more. "O-Oh, I see. Yes mam," he affirmed. He wasn't going to pry too much about Jymaiyri's estranged situation with her family, but he had to admit he was a little curious. "Do you and your family not get along, Miss Jymaiyri..?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri shook her head. "My father and I are on... pretty bad terms. My mom left him when I was a kid, and never kept in touch." That was all Kian was getting. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian frowned as he listened to Jymaiyri and offered her a small sympathetic pat on her shoulder. "Oh, I-I'm sorry to hear that, Miss Jymaiyri... I can understand why you would want to separate yourself from your home in that case," he nodded. "D-Do you have any other family..?" @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri took in a heavy breath. "I would rather not talk about that right now, if you don't mind." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian winced a little, remembering that was probably a really sore subject to talk about right now. "R-Right.. I'm sorry, Miss Jymaiyri," the boy apologized as he bowed his head. He felt bad now.. He was pestering Jymaiyri a lot and he even made her sadder than she was! He had to somehow make it up to her... or at least make her feel better somehow. He turned away for a moment, and stuck his hand into the dirt and sand. Kian fiddled for a moment, focusing on something. Though, after a moment, Kian seemed rather disappointed once again. "Awh.. c'mon.." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"It's alright." Jymaiyri sighed, and let her gaze drift to the distant horizon while Kian messed with the sand. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Well, if a few moments of peace is what Jymaiyri is hoping for, she'd get it for a while more. Kian was still doing... whatever he was trying to do, obviously failing in quiet frustration. "C'mon.. work with m-me here.." He grumbled. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

If Jymaiyri noticed Kian's grumbling, she didn't acknowledge it, aside from a spare glance in his general direction to make sure he wasn't dying or whatever. Her thoughts were, understandably, preoccupied. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Again, several more minutes went by with Kian struggling on his own. He continued to face away from Jymaiyri and Minerva, mumbling under his breath, until suddenly, there was a little change in his body language. Kian went silent as something seemed to shift in the sand underneath his hand. A few more minutes pass by, but Kian was no longer struggling, at least, not audibly. It was already pretty hot outside, so the small project Kian was working on wouldn't have been very noticeable. "Anddd.. done! Miss Jymaiyri, look!" Kian turned back to face the woman and baby, and in his hand was what looked like a completely black sculpture. To be more precisely, it was harden molten lava that was shaped like Jymaiyri, Minerva, and Yeonaixho. The sculpture was small, maybe the size of a six inch figurine, but it depicted the family together—with baby Minerva in the center being held by both her parents. They all had happy faces, and even though some details were hard to make out, the sculpture wasn't half-bad. "Uhm.. I-I made this for you! I hope I made your husband look okay. I only really got to see him f-from a distance. I thought maybe it'd be n-nice to have. Like a photo of you all.." Kian smiled, a little unsure if Jymaiyri would like it. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri turned to face Kian, her expression initially neutral. "Hm? What is it?" Something immediately shifted when she saw the small statue. She didn't immediately say anything, but took it into her trembling hands. One hand cupped the base, the other traced the tiny replication of her husband's cheerful, smiling features. Hot tears welled in the corners of Jymaiyri's eyes. In a sudden motion, she set the statue down on the sand- gently, at least, and turned away from it, her hand over her mouth. Kian would hear nothing in reply but stifled, whining cries, tears Jymaiyri was trying desperately to suppress. She didn't face him. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Well, if Kian was good at one thing, it wouldn't be making people feel better, it seems. The moment Jymaiyri turned around, Kian's smile fell and he immediately grew concerned. "M-Miss Jymaiyri..? I-I'm sorry—I thought-" Hearing Jymaiyri's muffled cries, the boy frowned. He hesitated for a moment, but slowly crept to her side. Kian took out his blue handkerchief from his pocket and offered it to Jymaiyri, before gently rubbing her back. If she pushed him away or seemed uncomfortable, Kian wouldn't blame her, he just didn't know what else to do to soothe her. Seeing Jymaiyri like this.. it brought back memories of his own mother sobbing the same way. It was painful, but Kian knew it was nothing compared to what the woman beside him felt. Jymaiyri's overwhelming grief was soon coupled by the guilt of having such a visceral, negative reaction, to a gift made by a child who was just trying to make her feel better. Still, the ache in her heart was overwhelming. She didn't shrink away from Kian's touch, but also didn't accept the handkerchief. Her entire body trembled. "I- I can't look at his face without thinking of- of him-" She cut her stammering short, unable to put into words the reality. She couldn't stop thinking of him, cold and dead. "I'm sorry, I know you only meant well-" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He continued to rub Jymaiyri's back, humming slightly as he did so. Kian felt so bad... He thought it'd be something Jymaiyri would appreciate, but perhaps he was being naive. "N-No, no.. you don't have to apologize. I-I'm sorry, Miss Jymaiyri. I-I should of known better," Kian softly replied as he stayed by her side. "You don't have to accept it i-if it hurts too much.. Jymaiyri still trembled, and kept facing away from Kian, and the gift he had made her. "Not- not right now," She said. Her breaths were getting more even, her voice trembling less. "I don't want to look at him right now. I- I know you were just trying to help. I'm sorry." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

"I-It's okay.. I understand," Kian nodded, his voice still soft and reassuring. "Just catch your breath, Miss Jymaiyri.. I-It's going to be okay." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

It was not going to be okay, and Jymaiyri knew that. Still, she evened her breath, and turned back towards Kian, though her gaze was still distant. She didn't say anything for a while. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian knew it wasn't going to be okay either, but it's not like he could just say that to a grieving woman. Jymaiyri deserved some sense of hope.. even if it wasn't realistic. When Jymaiyri turned back to him, Kian moved his hand to grab the handkerchief once more. He gently dabbed Jymaiyri's tears, but avoided looking at her. "...I'm sorry, Miss Jymaiyri. I-I wish I could do more for you," Kian quietly said. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri flinched slightly as Kian dabbed away her tears, but didn't protest. "Please. Don't apologize. Don't say things like that." She sighed. "The more I think about what could've been done to help, the worse I feel." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian had moved before he even registered that he had dabbed Jymaiyri's tears. He blinked, before leaning back in quiet surprise. "I-I'm sorry.." Kian apologized again. "I-I just wanted to cheer you up somehow, Miss Jymaiyri.. I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to overstep.." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri decided asking Kian not to apologize was a futile effort. "It's- it's fine, I know you were only trying to help. If it had been any situation but this... maybe it would've. You meant well, though, and I appreciate it." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He managed to give Jymaiyri a small smile, but felt guilty that Jymaiyri had to be the one to comfort him. It should of been the other way around. Why was it always like this? "O-Okay..." Kian nodded solemnly as he tucked away his handkerchief. He turned back to where the sculpture was and carefully picked it back up. Kian made sure to hold it in a way that covered Yeonaixho's face and offered it vaguely to Jymaiyri. "I-I know my uncle will come to you eventually--T-The man who was sent onto the field to.. collect some things of your husband's. Maybe you can put this with them when the time is right." @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

Jymaiyri kept her gaze on the horizon, but took the sculpture into the deep pocket of her pants, all without sparing more than a glance to it. "Your uncle..." She assumed this was a different uncle than the one with plant powers. "Is that the one who was in the arena taking his..." She cut herself off, not wanting to really voice that. Shakily, she nodded. "That... seems like a good idea. Yeah. Maybe I will." @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Kian nodded, a little relieved Jymaiyri at least took the sculpture. "Mhm.. I-I have a pretty big family, s-so.. A lot of uncles and aunts and.. w-well, you get the picture. Uncle Agustin is the one who collected his things.. A-And he's an amphib here on the other side. I'm sure he'll come to see you soon," Kian nodded. After a beat, Kian stood up and offered Jymaiyri a hand. "S-Should we go somewhere cooler to rest, Miss Jymaiyri? I'm sure baby Minerva would sleep better in the shade. "Agustin. I've heard about him." Jymaiyri nodded. "That would... probably be for the best. It's so hot here..." Jymaiyri tentatively took Kian's hand and stood up, keeping Minerva steady in the sling as she moved. "Where do you think we should go?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

He smiled faintly as he helped Jymaiyri up. "Y-Yeah, it really is hot out here.." Kian said as he used the back of his sleeve to wipe off some sweat. "I think Celena mentioned some sort of hut o-or something farther inward. That might be a good place to stay for a bit," Kian suggested. @innsjo | juno🌻/jymaiyri🌿/minnie🌺

"Looks like there's a shelter over there, on the beach. We could just stay there." Jymaiyri hummed, and made her way towards #lean-shelter . @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge
