Sovran should’ve expected it at this point. When he dropped back into A side, he really should’ve braced himself for the impact of landing back into the stream a good distance away from anyone else who might’ve been interacting at the stream. “Freakin’ darn it,” Sovran sat up, sputtering as water slipped into his mouth. He quickly stood up and tried to make his way out of the water. He glanced around for Connie. He hoped she would have a better landing that he did. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie, on the other hand, had landed gently on the shore, stunned by her bright, vibrant surroundings- before immediately panicking that her friend was no longer with her. "Sovvy!" she exclaimed when she saw the her friend drenched in the water. She kicked off her shoes to scramble over to him. "Sovran, you alright?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“I’m fine, I’m fine, kid,” Sovran stepped out of the water with a deep sigh. His coat was completely drenched. “Don’t gotta worry ‘bout me, a lil’ bit of water don’t hurt.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Mmm...that's fair, I guess," Connie sighed, shuffling a little out of the way so Sovran could get out. She was kind of sick of the cold, but the water was a nice kind of cold. Refreshing! "Maybe you could lay out your stuff to dry?" she suggested, kicking the water around a bit. "It's pretty hot here, so it could dry in no time!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“Yeah, I’ll set my jacket to the side.” Sovran hummed. He took off his coat and left it in the sun to dry. His shirt was mostly tatters at this point, but it was something. “Now, if you want, we can find a shady spot to fish under,” Sovran grinned. “I’m sure we can catch plenty to eat.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"We can fish!" Connie exclaimed, more than excited now. "Yes! Yes! We can fish- oh, we can get a bunch!" Miss Jymaiyri probably needed some food after that...and, and Nora and Celena, too! She hadn't really seen them since...well. The fight. Whoever that other guy was, it seemed pretty rough for Nora. "We can cook some fish and give the others some food!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Sounds like a great idea, Con," Sovran grinned. "After we've all eaten, maybe we can drop by that ice cream parlor that opened up. How's that sound?" @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Oh!" Huh! That was the new room Celena opened? "Sure, yeah! We can drop by! Hehe. Drop by." "What's your favorite ice cream flavor? Flavorite. Mine's gotta be Matcha! Or Cookies 'n Cream," Connie said, looking around the stream for any sticks laying around. They prolly needed a bunch to make fishing rods...unless they wanted to just grab it out of the water with their hands. "Hm. D'you wanna fish or just go hampuck?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"When it comes to ice cream, I'm not too sure. I've always been a blue raspberry shaved ice kind of guy." Sovran chuckled. "We can fish, don't worry 'bout it." With a hum, all the metal from Sovran's jewlery and from his jacket became detached. He was able to make two thin sticks for them to use as fishing rods. He tugged at a string of his fishnet shirt, and was able to pluck out two long threads from what remained of it. He didn't seem to mind sacrificing his whore of a t-shirt even more. Tying the strings to the tips, he hummed as he handed one off to Connie. "We got some crab wraps left over," Sovran dug around in his wet coat pocket and pulled out two crab wraps. "Dunno how good they still are, but they'd be great for fishin'. We can just tear off lil' bits an' pieces an' attach it to the string for bait." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Mmm, yummy, shaved ice. I've had 'ABC Ice' before! Really good. Herbal jelly. Peanuts. More jelly. Marshy cherry on top." Wide-eyed, Connie watched as Sovran- turned- made- melded his frickin' metal jewelry and stuff into thin, metal sticks. Her eyes were still as wide as ever as he finished up the fishing rod with his shirt? Thing? "What the shit!" she exclaimed, carefully taking the metal fishing rod from Sovran's hands. "Wait- wait, what? What! What! Is- is that- what!" She shook the fishing rod vigorously. It wobbled in return. "What! Wait, is this part of your, like Memory powers?! Do you know someone who can control metal, too?! What! That's so sick!" Wobble wobble. Mmm, crab wraps. She was frickin' starving! One orange (plus peel) wasn't too filling, really. "Crab wraps," she sighed, woefully tearing off a chunk of the wet crab wraps. How much she would give to eat it. "Those sound really good!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"'ABC Ice,' huh? Can't say I've ever heard of it. Sounds sugary." Sovran chuckled. It'd probably send him to the grave if he ate that now. At Connie's reaction, the man couldn't help but grin. "I do, it's part of my 'memory' powers. There's a kid I helped take care of when I went back home, he was about your age when we met, maybe a bit younger." Sovran paused. "You two could be good friends, I think. The kid's a bit anxious and closed off, but I could see you bringin' him out of his shell. He's a good kid, just like you." "They were good," Sovran chuckled. "But just think of this fish that we'll get, we'll have it nice and roasted perfectly for ya." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie nodded vigorously in agreement. "It its pretty sugary, yeah! Brown sugar, corn and stuff- it's suuuper sweet and sugary! I'm only allowed to get it if I share it with dama, though. It's too frickin' sweet for just one person, they say. Um! I guess that makes sense, though!" Man, Sovvy really was helping a lot of people, huh? "Aw, he sounds sweet, too! He sounds like a sweet kid! I- I'd like to meet him, that might be fun...he just sounds sweet!" She nudged Sovran gently, a little, with the metal fishing rod. "Shell, eh? Metal shell, eh? Eh?" "And you too!" she laughed, "you better eat some too! It'll be perfect for both of us!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"That so? Definitely sounds like a treat to share with another person," Sovran laughed. The man fought back an amused eye roll. "I see what you did there, kid. I'll admit, it's a good one." "I will, I'll get a bite to eat," Sovran chuckled. He began to tear off a few bits of crab and tied them off to the strings of their rods. "Promise." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Pinkie promise?" Connie asked, lifting her extended pinkie to Sovran. Despite the childishness of it all, she had the most serious look in her eye. "You promise you're gonna eat?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Pinkie promise." Sovran bit back a smile, not wanting to undermine something as impactful as a pinkie promise. He reached his hand out and hooked his pinkie around Connie's, making the promise complete. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie shook firmly and nodded in tandem. "Alright! Then the pact is sealed!" she declared, stepping back a bit to reel the fish. Pole. Throw? Fish? Back? Stepping back a bit to fish. "Let's get us some food to eat!" The bait pathetically flopped onto the sand behind her, rather than in front of her. "Crumbcakes." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu (edited)

Sovran let out a deep, rumbling laugh that came from deep within his chest. He adjusted his hold on his fishing rod and made sure that Connie would see the position of his hands on it. "Eager there, aren't you? You got the right energy, but you gotta do it like this, Con." With that, he held his fishing rod back before quickly flicking it forward. The bait on the string landed perfectly in the water. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie watched Sovran carefully as he demonstrated the proper way to fish, readjusting her hands the same way he did. And then- a quick little flick of the wrist! "Mmmyeh," she pathetically bleated, trying to mimic Sovran- this time, the bait went a little further! Still behind her, though. "I think my timing's a bit off. Wuhoh." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Maybe do it as a, 'three, two, one, go,' kind of timing." Sovran suggested. "On 'one,' start your swing, and on 'go,' flick it forward." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

It went forward this time! But not far enough, alas. "I'm kinda getting the hang of this!" Connie said, brows furrowed in concentration. Sovvy was teaching her how to fish! She was! Kinda getting it! Three, two, one- go! "Oh, man, okay, so the swing and flick is real fast. Oh, okay." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Mmhm, it's real quick. You gotta be swift with it." Sovran stated. "You got this, kid. I believe in you." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Sovran watched her struggle a bit. “You got this. We’re gonna show them fish who’s the boss ‘round these parts. You.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

SPLASH. The bait sailed into the water a good distance away, and Connie had to remember to hold onto the fishing pole before she started to cackle, merrily splashing her feet in the water. "I did it!" she laughed, forcing herself to still, lest she chase the fish away. Party time over. "I did it! Sovvy, I did it! I did it!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“Heck yeah, kid!” Sovran grinned. He raised a hand to give her a high five. “I knew you had it in you!” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Bam! Perfect high five in return! "I didn't!" she exclaimed, a little surprised she was able to actually do it. "But you taught me how to, Sovvy!" She bumped her side against his, giggling, "thank you so much!" "I usually just grab 'em with my hands or use a fishing spear," she admitted after a moment, shifting a little to play the good ol' waiting game. "Especially if they're big ones! Easier to grab! And then I just shock 'em a little bit before dama does the rest of it. The like, killing bit." @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“Nah, I just gave you an opportunity to try somethin’ new, and you went ahead an’ did somethin’ with it.” Sovran used a hand to ruffle Connie’s hair again. “That was all you, kid!” “Fishin’ spear? Can’t say I’ve ever tried that, but that’s impressive. You gotta have a good eye for that.” Sovran chuckled. “I see- If you want to, we can do it like that. You can give ‘em a little shock, and I’ll take care of the rest.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Bwagh! But you taught me how to fish!" she laughed, letting Sovran ruffle her hair. "Fine, fine, we can both call it and said we did somethin'!" "Mhm!" she hummed, nodding viciously. Her hair was getting everywhere now. "I mean, the ocean's kinda shallow, so Otty just jabs the fish with their spear! I can't really get shocked or like, electrocuted, I guess, so I can just shock 'em in the water and all!" "You gonna make a hammer or somethin' outta metal too?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Alright, we both did somethin'," Sovran chuckled and pulled his hand away. "I could make a hammer, if that's somethin' that'll be helpful for you." Sovran hummed. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"Mmm! Maybe! I don't really need tools to grab 'n zap, but yeah! Um! What! Is the tool you're best. At using for killing fish?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Usually a blade," Sovran stated. "I just make one and get the job done that way." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"We can do that, then!" Connie grinned. "Well, we're fishing now- but we can do that at some point if y'wanna!" No bite yet. Connie shuffled a little in the water, patient as ever. It was quiet. Verrrt quiet. "Um...what other powers and stuff d'you have? Since, y'know- metal and memories and Maia!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Sounds good to me." Sovran grinned. He sat in content silence, perfectly content just spending this moment with Connie. He had always wanted to take one of his future kids fishing. If he was going to die here on this death planet, at least he could say that he completed one of his future wishes. "What other powers, huh? Let's see," Sovran paused for a moment as he thought it over. "I got adrenaline powers, those are a bit complicated. I got energy, fire, some lightning, some healing with light, steel, telekinesis, water, and- Nullification. Bit of all that. Some have some set backs, though." @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Two, six, ten- "Woah, ten powers! That's a lot!" Connie yelped. "Hey, I got lightning! And Cellie has light powers!" "Ans you got all these like, powers because you got to know the people with 'em, right? Like the memories thing! What's Adrenaline? Like, speed, kinda?" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“Mmhm, you do,” Sovran grinned. “And Celena’s got light. Funny enough, I think it’s Celena who I got the light from, back when she went by ‘Zora.’ It was a long time ago.” “Yup, all from connections and bonds,” Sovran hummed. “Yeah, kinda like speed. I can use it to make myself stronger and faster, but only for a short while. My body’s not built to use it for a long time.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Adrenaline! That sounded pretty much like it. "That sounds like adrenaline alright," she nodded. "Though I didn't know about the strength part! That's neat!" "Really!" she gasped, upon hearing he had known Celena- or, well, Zora? Still Celena to her! "That's sick, what! I didn’t know you two met like, before all of- of- of this! How did you guys meet! Wait, when did you g-" Promptly, the rod pulled- not by a lot, but it was certainly enough to startle her a little. "I got one!" she yelped, planting her foot in the ground. "Buh- wait, what do I do now?!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

“Mhm, some people’s adrenaline gives them strength in dangerous situations. Some people have even picked up cars off of other people.” “See, that’s where it gets a bit complicated-” Sovran jolted up. “You got one- Okay, good! Hold onto it real tight, and jerk the pole back! You can even lean your weight back into it if that helps, you got this, Con!” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Yep! That adrenaline sure was rushing through Connie right now! Connie listened to Sovran, clutching the frickin' rod with all of her fifteen-year-old might. Suddenly, she yanked on the pole hard, one leg going airborne as the bait- well, what was left of the bait -and the fish went airborne, sailing through the air on a piece of string. Fish! Flat fish! Fish! She dropped the fishing rod as the fish came down, down, down, stretching out her arms to catch the fish in her arms- Splat. "I got it!" she gleefully exclaimed, the fish flapping and floundering in her hands! Her hands! She caught a fish! She fished a fish! Connie held it out to Sovran, like one of those Ammny Crossing guys. "Fish!"

Sovran had the biggest, proudest smile he’s ever had on his face. “Look at you, Con!! You caught that all on your own- Congrats, kiddo!” He reached out and ruffled her hair. “I’m mighty proud of ya!” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie grinned like mad, still holding the fish in her hands. She squawked with laughter when Sovran went right back to ruffling her hair, snorting a little bit with giggles. Proud! He was proud of her! Proud! Connie's chest swelled with delight at the praise, some warm, bubbly feeling sitting in her stomach. "What do I do now!" she asked holding the fish out for Unky Sovran as that feeling continued to swell. It was still flopping in her arms. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

He was going to tell her to pose with it so he could take a picture of her success, but he remembered that he didn't have his phone on him at the moment. "Hand it over!" Sovran quickly said. "I'll take care of it!" @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

As best as she could, Connie handed over the flopping, flailing fish, eyes scrunched shut to avoid getting fish sauce-water-juice-slime into her eyes. Bwaugh. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran took the fish and fumbled with it for a few moments before he dropped it and let it fall onto his jacket. He'd have to run the jacket through the stream to rinse it off later. "I'll take care of it, d'you wanna try to catch another one?" Sovran asked. @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie watched the fish flop around a bit on Sovran's soaked jacket for a moment. Dang. Dedication- before looking back up at him as he began to speak. More fish time! Though, while the fishing rod was fun, it was a bit hard to manage. And a little difficult to also full-send it, too. "Sure!" Connie chirped, squatting down carefully in the water. Her overalls were gonna get soaked, but that was fine! They'd dry, anyways. She kept her eyes trained on the water, where the rest of her bait was before- -she suddenly lunged- hands outstretched as she nearly dove into the water to grab something. There was a good bit of wrangling before she abruptly stood, holding up another flopping, floundering fish in both hands. Eagerly, she showed it to Sovran. "I might try to use a fishing rod again at some point!" she laughed a bit, "but maybe after we get some fish cooking to eat!" @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

Sovran was busy taking care of the fish when he heard Connie splash into the water. He grinned at the kid and shook his head, entirely amused by her. “If that works for you, then that’s fine,” Sovran laughed. “I’ll get a fire goin’ right now.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

Connie did a little one-over of the stream before ultimately making her way over to Sovran with the newly caught fish. She stood behind Sovran for a moment or two, watching him prep the fish before placing the other one down on the jacket. Goodbye, yummy, flat fish. "There's another one for you here!" She was back in the stream in no time, busily searching the water for any other fish to give Sovran. She wanted to help fry up some fish too! But after she got a fewww more fish. She hiked up her overalls a bit more and squatted, waiting. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

"Look at you, kid! You're a pro-fisher," Sovran laughed. "'preciate it, kiddo. We'll be eatin' good because of you!" @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡

"No prob, Unkie!" Connie called over, giggling a little. Heck yeah! Fisherman Connie was frickin' at it! Soon everyone on the beach side would be fed! Well, probably not everyone, but, y'know, a pretty good bunch! Maybe! Hopefully! There, a flash of red in the water. Connie lunged again, with utmost frickin' precision, and latched onto something- hard? Cold? Cold and hard. Splash! "I caught a lobster!" Connie suddenly squealed, holding the lobster as carefully as she could. Cute little guy! She was kinda sad to see him like this. "Like, a whole lobster! I've never caught 'em before!" (edited)

(Don't worry abt responding quickly! My responses are a smiiidge slow as well!) Connie stared at the lobster in her hands- cute little lobster guy friend. Smidgen of a cute little guy. Such a pretty little lobster. Lober. She could never bring herself to hurt such a little dude. Splash, went the water, as Connie carefully dropped him back in the water to swim his way away. Or walk. He scuttled!

7:00 AM

Yum, fish. The pair had spent a good while fishing through the fight, fishing some more and tending the little fire- all while Connie kept catching and releasing the lobers. She hoped she was at least kinda sneaky about that. Hey, at least they got some food! Connie was all warm and toasty now, laying in the grass for her clothes to dry off. She had gotten a few of her belongings back- her jacket and the half-eaten peel-and-orange, and was now just basking in the sun after a great frickin' meal of fish. Her hands smelled all fishy though. As a result of hand grabbing fish. Yum, fish. "That was awesome," she sighed, content. Warm and happy and full. Best things in the world. "Your cooking's so frickin' good." It was great. It was awesome. Amazing. Perfect. Super homey and good and...and. Just. Good! It was good! She fiddled with the peel of the orange, lost in thought a little bit. "I'm really glad I got to fish with you," she said after a long moment, "I'm really glad I met you. You're really nice. And you're a really good cook." Everyone here was so nice. @Vanessa| Sovran+Zora+Cansu

This moment meant a tremendous to Sovran, more than Connie would ever know. There was a moment of complete peace over the man as he watched Connie dive in and out of the water with fish and lobsters. It was amusing. It just felt like any other summer day with family. He had prepped the fire and cooked the fish as perfectly as he could. His jacket, meanwhile, was soaking in the running stream to clean itself off of fish. Gross. When all was said and done, everything was nice and cooked. They both had their fill of fish, and it was delicious. Sovran definitely knew how to throw it down. “Glad you enjoyed it, kid,” Sovran chuckled. “Really, I’m glad. This meant a lot to me too. I’ll take a look ‘round later for maybe a salmon or two, see what other kinds of fish I could catch and cook for you.” @Kipology | Nathan 🏺 + Connie ⚡
