“Oh, sorry,” Julien gave the phone a small apologetic pat. At least that worked? With his hand still on the imprint, he focused all his energy on channeling his newfound powers. As he placed his hand on the insert, he could feel a steady stream of the powers being rooted in to the machine.. It didn't feel like they were being stolen or anything, just used to power it. The lights on the inside lit up as he held his hand there, including a light green hue from under the keys. The keys themselves changed from numbers to letters. "YOOOUU FUCKERRR!" Angie screamed as she stuck her hand out of the necklace. She grabbed onto Julien's arm as she pulled herself out. "I'll fucking KILL you!" She screeched. Flames leaped out of her hands as she scowled angrily. "You killed the only person who I gave a shit about! You'll pay! You'll fucking pay of piece of shIT-!" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Woah! Listen-“ Julien cut himself off as the flames began to creep up his arm. He let out a yelp, but stood firm. “I’m sorry- I really am! I didn’t want him to die, but I didn’t either! And I didn’t kill him, by the way! He tried to kill me- but I don’t hold that against him, because he was just doing what he could to survive. I had to argue with Rakin about that necklace just to make sure you’d be safe too! I know you don’t know or give a shit about me, but Andre cared a lot about keeping you safe, and that’s what I’m trying to do!” he sank to his knees, then buried his burning arm into the snow to cool it off. Angie let out a low snarl before her eyes watered up. She clenched her fists together before she turned to the phone, punching it instead. "Damnit!" She hissed. "That stupid self sacrificing idiot! I-!" Angie's fists shook with rage before she let out another scream of anger. "Why didn't you just let me go with him- why didn't he let me- I-" Angie gripped her, her nails digging into her hair. “The phone isn’t going to like that…” Julien mumbled, awkwardly looking down as he stood up. “…He specifically wanted you to stay safe, and he wanted you out of that necklace. So… if you’d like, I’d be more than willing to help you. I know circumstances are less than ideal, but…” he trailed off, then looked over at Angie. “…I’m very sorry. "I don't care about the phone!" She shouted. Angie let out a frustrated sigh before she turned to Julien. Slowly, Angie calmed down and wiped at her eyes, trying to hide the tears. "....You don't fuckin' know the start of it. The start of how I got into that fuckin necklace and everything." She squeezed her fists. "....Fuck." “I care about it! It talked to me, and now I associate human emotions with it!” Julien retorted with a sigh. He glanced over at Angie again, this time with more sympathy. He didn’t comment on her tears, knowing that if he was experiencing the amount of grief she was, he’d do the same. “I’m sure I don’t even know the tiniest bit of what you’ve been through, but if you want to talk, I’ll listen.” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Angie crossed her arms over her chest before she narrowed her eyes for a brief moment. Her gaze softened and she sighed, staring at the floor. "...Andre was going to be a sacrifice. Due to the fact he isn't human. People thought they could kill him. I didn't let them. And for that? I was cursed and got trapped in the necklace." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

"His power. They wanted to sacrifice him." Her face scrunched up. "It's...ugh." Angie glared at the ground. "...You must wonder why I'm a ghost, no?" She smiled a bit. "No need to hide your curiosity, Julien." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Sludge powers… I mean, I could definitely see that being a reason for sacrifice…” Julien trailed off, eyeing Angie sheepishly. “I do wonder that, actually… I just don’t want to accidentally strike a sore spot again. "I'm a witch." She chuckled softly. "Burned at the stake at the witch trials." Angie looked at her nails for a moment before she shook her head. "And well, a goddess took pity on me. Made me into a ghost so I can seek vengance on those who wronged me." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh… damn,” Julien mused. “I suppose we have something in common- well, at least the ‘second chance’ kinda thing. So you’re a witch… was Andre something similar?” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

"No. Just some weirdo farm." She laughed softly. "He didn't even consider himself a human due to his power. Since he can take on any shape or form...well." Angie dropped her shoulders. "Second chance huh?" She looked at Julien, studying him for a moment before she sighed. "...What are we doing here anyway? This phone room or whatever it is." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“…Yeah, his powers…right…” Julien agreed, nervously touching the hand he’d used to activate the phone. He opened his mouth to say more about Andre, but his mouth was dry. After a few moments, he spoke again. “Like you, Angie, I should be dead… I mean, I wasn’t burned at the stake, but I was brought back- oh, right, the phones. I can make one call to anyone, so I was wondering if maybe you could too…? I didn’t want you to miss out on that, so I figured I’d summon you…” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾 (edited)

"Unless the phone ran raise the dead there isn't anyone I could talk too." Angie mumbled quietly. "Though...our similarities catch my attention." Angie leaned forward, staring at him curiously. "How?" She asked. "How were you brought back like I was?" @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh… I’m in a similar boat. I mean, I may have one person that I could call… but even then, that’s a stretch,” Julien mused. “I’ve got an idea though, but that’s not as interesting as our similarities…” he trailed off. “…Our similarities have piqued my interest too, though it could just be coincidence, but I do think it’s worth exploring- not to mention that you’re a witch, and when she was still alive, my mother was as well- but once again, it could all just be one crazy coincidence,” With that, he too leaned in slightly, lifting up the hair over the side of his face as he did so. Over his eye was a series of marks- maybe scars- that ran from his eye down his face, like shattered glass. “Dunno. Apparently I was brought back five years ago at random, but when I awoke after dying, I had this thing on the side of my face,” he ran his fingers down the scar, then shrugged. “Maybe it was a higher power of some kind, but it’s never made itself present. That’s why I’m so hung up on staying alive- I’ve been given a second chance, and I’ll do anything to do things right this time.” Instead of letting his hair hang loosely in front of his face, he tucked it behind his ear. @capisnotonfire (edited)

"If you're mother was alive during the Salem Witch Trials.." Angie trailed off. At the scar, she titled her head to the side curiously. How interesting. The gears began to turn in Angie head and she nodded along to him. "A pity we were both dragged into this shit show." She rolled her eyes with a huff. Angie definitely seemed a lot calmer now, at least. She turned to the phone before she huffed. "If I've learned anything, being alive for 100's of years teaches you something." She placed her hands on her hips. "You don't waste your life." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien laughed dryly. “Nah, she died a few years back, though. Stopped hearing from her, so well… that was that. We weren’t close,” He too then rolled his eyes, his face pained with a twinge of melancholy. “It really sucks that we both got stuck here… and Andre too. But, if you’ll let me, for however long I’ve got left, I’ll do what I can to try to life your curse and get you out of that necklace.” He then offered her a small smile. “I’ve only been back here for about five, but yeah, I get it. There’s nothing more precious than a life, and dammit…” he plopped down to the ground, various joints cracking in the process. “…I won’t die here.” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Angie watched Julien for a few seconds before she sat down on the ground as well with a sigh. "You remind me of him." She admitted. "Although Andre hardly knew me, he made a promise to get me out of the necklace and you're doing the same for me. Is that not weird?" "Most people, they don't do that. I suppose you aren't like most people, then." She concluded. "Most people would scowl and turn away." Angie summoned a flame to her palm. "So you don't freeze to death. I assume you need to keep warm." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

Julien chuckled softly. “Thanks, yeah, I do,” he hummed as Angie produced a flame in her hand, and leaned in slightly. “Maybe it is a little weird, but I dunno… I can’t just not help you. I’m sure Andre felt similar, just in the sense that helping you out is the right thing to do. In a situation like this- and well, in life- it’s better to make friends than enemies. It took me dying to realize that,” he placed his hands in his lap. “Though… I suppose if I were younger and most likely in my prime, I wouldn’t care so much, but… sometimes it comes with the profession. But you want to be free, yeah? So free you will be… at some point.” he said awkwardly, though his inflection was fully genuine. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

"Free I will be at some point." Angie repeated. Angie let out a heavy sigh before she reached up and pulled out her ponytail, letting her hair down. The ghost shut her eyes for a second before she opened them. "Humans are weird." She stated. "I've met many of you. Some of you are the kindest beings and others are awful. Those who were awful I made sure to deal with." Angie looked towards the burn scar on Julien. God. Now she felt bad! Gross? "Dying teaches you a lot of things, doesn't it?" “Yeahhh, humans sure are a mixed bag,” Julien agreed with a small nod. “I’m sure I can imagine how you chose to ‘deal’ with those who were a bit more unsavory…” it wasn’t worth elaborating, but that was simply because he’d done similar. He rubbed his arm before looking back at Angie. He thought a bit, then spoke. “Say, Angie… do you like pizza?” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

"I never really ate any human food. Don't need too." Angie twirled her hair. "But I do like pizza, I'd say." Angie smiled at the thought slightly. "Andre is a very good cook. He knows how to make a mean brisket..." "Truth be told, it depends." Her eyes flashed for a moment. "I'd use my powers and haunt them, yeah, others, I'd well. You know." She waved her wrist. “Haunting them, eh? That’s metal as hell. Makes those creeps really pay for what they’ve done.” Julien gave Angie a thumbs up. His stomach made a small growl at the mention of food- good food. “Damn, I could go for some brisket right now,” he hummed. “But I was thinking, since both you and I don’t have anyone to call- we should get pizza. "Can we get wine with the pizza?" Angie asked. "I think we both have had a long..day..night. Whatever the fuck." She rubbed her face. "I've had like...real pizza, if that's what you want to call it. “Oh shit, wine sounds awesome right now, you get it,” Julien nodded along. “It’s been a long ass time since either of us has been able to relax, that’s what. Angie stared at Julien for a moment. She clenched her fists together tightly before she dropped her shoulders and just...fell to her knees. Angie let out a loud sob and placed her head on the floor. "He's fucking gone then!" She sobbed. "Any smidgen of hope I had- he needs his powers- his body can't maintain its form without them-" "You don't understand! Julien froze, his face falling. “Fuck… I’m so sorry,” his voice broke, cracking miserably as he apologized for something he wished he had more control over. It wasn’t fair for either of them- especially Angie… he couldn’t even fathom how Angie was feeling in that very moment. She did deserve to know, despite it all. “I know how much he meant to you… I mean, I’ll never understand in full, but… that’s why I don’t want to make that call. I activated the phone earlier and I felt as if I was going to be sick. I don’t think I can ever use those powers again. It makes me feel all kinds of terrible that they’re just- ugh…” he motioned to himself. “…In me now. "It ain't fuckin fair!" Angie snarled. "The fuck did we do to that piece o' shit Rakin or whatever the fuck his name is. Oh I swear if I see that man I'll squeeze him till he pops!" She punched the ground. "People never fucking change. All they do is prioritize themselves. Put others down to pick themselves up. I hate people like that. I thought for once humans have changed. “I’m glad I broke his wrist with those bolt cutters,” Julien mumbled, then put his face in his hands. “I don’t think we did anything, Angie. None of us here deserve this. Everyone I spoke to are just… normal people, and if not ‘normal’, then just people, living their lives. Hell, the moment I was taken away, I was nearly bleeding out!” and he too, dropped to the ground. Julien stayed on his knees, not minding that the snow was colder than he’d last registered. The numbness felt very fitting. “I don’t even think he’s human. Like I get the sentiment, but when I was with him, he’d gone off about frogs or something, I don’t know, it was weird. "Should have broken the other one. Give him a taste of his own medicine." Angie grunted with a huff of air. "Break both his wrists and let him struggle or whatever." "Gods, when we were taken we were just buying fuckin' cheese." Angie sat up now, letting some of her hair fall in front of her face as she sighed heavily. She watched Julien sit with her before she summoned a small flame to melt some snow around him. "I fuckin' hate frogs now I guess." Angie crossed her arms. “Hmm, you’re right,” Julien nodded thoughtfully. And to think, he felt bad about initially hurting Rakin. Angie’s anger was a little infectious, but not unwelcome. This was a catharsis, after all! “Damn, you guys were out shopping when you were taken? Hopefully he didn’t pay for anything. I was… uh…” he paused, letting out a dry laugh. “…Bleeding out. Rakin finished stitching me up, so I guess that’s why I felt like I owed him something. Angie looked at Julien for a moment before she returned the high five. "I'll....tell you what." She said. "I have powers. Obviously. But I can also boost peoples powers with my own. Call it an adrenalin rush of sorts." Angie held her hand out, a small green flame surrounding it. "Perhaps we can form an... alliance. I help you. You help me." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh… damn, that’s really useful,” Julien mused as their hands collided in a crisp high-five. “I mean, I don’t have powers of my own, but I’m more than willing to work with you. I want to free you, and on top of that, I can offer you my protection. Once upon a time, I was a damn good assassin, and I’d like to think that still holds up. So, miss Angie, you have yourself a deal.” he offered her a small smile as he took her hand, clasping it in a firm shake. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Angie's eyes lit up and she hummed contently. "Well then, Julien, I'll hold you to it." She stated. "You better be a damn good assassin if you wanna keep me safe." A small snort of laughter escaped her. "Put the necklace one whenever you're ready and we can get outta here." @Morgan | Calamity + Julien

“Oh, you have my word,” Julien smiled back at Angie. “You and I are getting out of here, and I mean that on my life. Though I may need a bigger set of bolt cutters…” he trailed off, laughing along with Angie. Rakin’s announcement did catch him off guard, and as he listened his grip tightened on the necklace. “Hm, seems like we don’t want to miss this fight,” he hummed, his eyes lighting up for a moment. “We can always make our move amidst the chaos, eh?” @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾
