RING A DING A DING! A cowbell rung out across the arena.. A fenced off dirt arena surrounded by bleachers. Empty bleachers. "Hooooooowdy y'all! And welcome to this rootin', tootin', and rad rodeo!" Rakin's voice, with a distinctly southern twag, echoed in the empty arena as he zapped himself in to the center of the arena, along with Kevin and Damien on either side of him.

All three of them were dressed in.. Country outfits. Blue jeans, cowboy boots, leather belts with big golden belt buckles, tucked in flannel shirts (Green for Rakin, pink for Kevin, and blue for Damien), and cowboy hats (with space for Kevin's horns on his).

"Our country-testants here, get it?, will be competing today for this prize!" Rakin held up the totem for this match, one side was crystal with little horns, and the other was a flowing ball of wind. He pocketed that again as he glanced between the two competitors.

"Today's competition will be decided as a best out of three! Our three events are bull riding, tie-down, and steer wrestling! If both competitors can make their way to opposite sides of the arena, we can begin..."

".....I have no idea what sins I committed to be put in this hell, but I call bullshit." The utter look of disgust at the fuckery Kevin was listening to had his usually neutral expression almost look like his grimace was trying to swallow the rest of his face. Out of habit, he takes the flannel off - checking to make sure he had his tank top underneath - and tied it around his waist. "Hm.... I'll at least say I hadn't wrestled a steer." He muttered, glancing at his fellow competitor.

Damien didn't even notice his attire at first, focused on the arena that was so....so much different from what he'd expected, and from the fights he'd attended thus far. "This is a fight to the death?" Damien shook his head in disbelief. Damien looked at Rakin and his opponent, looking more confused or amused than actually worried. He felt a little worse about the arena once he actually looked at Kevin, but gave him a little nod all the same.

"I mean to be fair I've seen my fair share of horses almost cave my dad's skull in." He says bluntly. Pausing for a moment. "....not that. That'll happen. Probably." He awkwardly coughs into a gloved hand.

Damien gave a nervous chuckle. "Hell of a way to go out, at least." Damien has the air of a guy who's goose is cooked, but at least he looks like he intends to have a fun time with it.

He just sympathetically pats his shoulder. "Just say the word if you lose and I'll off ya faster than cutting a roosters head off so he don't get the satisfaction. You better do the same if I lose." He mainly didn't want that fucking ghost looking mother fucker to get any satisfaction of seeing him squirm if he somehow lost.

"Um. I think dying in space is faster that whatever Kevin could do.." Rakin mumbled.

"And making frog legs sounds easier than shoving my whole foot into your ass yet you seem very eager to tempt me to try." He says bluntly.

Damien let out a snort at the exchange. This all felt so surreal and it made it funnier. "You bet, man." He addressed Kevin with a nod and a grin. He looked out at the arena, remembering what Rakin said about walking to opposite sides, and stepped a bit away from the other two. "Always wanted to see what a rodeo was like. This wasn't what I had in mind, but it'll do."

"Great! Let's get going!" Rakin said, eager to actually start. He ran off toward one edge of the arena, in the center back.

Rakin got to the side and climbed over the fence, standing at a podium facing the arena. "Do we have any volunteers to go first?" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

He sighs, slowly looking at Damien. "Unless you want to go first, I'll go so you can write your will. I already made mine when I was being an angsty teen." He rolls his neck. Cracking his joints roughly as he walked a couple steps forward. (edited)

Damien really didn't wanna say 'please go first I don't know shit about rodeos' so instead he nodded. "Nah, you can go first."

"Aight." He just gave a nod, adjusting the hat deciding to keep it on for the moment. A bit of a pissed grin on his face. "Let's ride I suppose."

"Great! Kevin goes first!" Rakin gestured over toward Kevin's side. A large, brown bull with partially blunted horns and white molt on the face appeared in the corral next to the cow-man. "Get yourself all seated and the gate will drop, while you're doing that I will gather the 'clowns' that are supposed to keep it from killing you when you fall off!" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

He supposed putting a big red nose on himself wouldn't be a good look for Rakin, though the thought did keep that mean grin on his face as he took his place on the animal. Leaning in, he muttered through gritted teeth, "I swear to christ you better not fuck me over immediately." It was more to himself than the bull.

The bull huffed and bucked a bit in the corral. In the arena, three people were zapped in to the arena, all wearing bright red outfits. Tai'Tana, Itsuki, and Llinos looked around, confused. "What the fuck is this!" Itsuki threw his arms up in the air. Anyway, beep. Beep. RING! The corral gate dropped...

The bull, in its rage, ran right at Llinos. It bumped in to her as she was diving out of the way. "HELL!" Llinos shouted, falling to the floor. "Well.. Kevin achieved two seconds! Woooooo-weeee, I really expected better from him!" Rakin pointed over at the bucking bull, and it zapped away. "NEXT competitor!"

Kevin was just loudly and angrily cursing in a mix of English and Spanish, looking like he was this close to turning the bull into a steak burger with hoe pissed he was.

Damien, after watching the most country-ass guy he'd ever seen only last 2 seconds, was feeling less than certain of his own chances. As he got on to his own bull, he gave it a little pat on the neck. "Unfortunately this is my first rodeo, so bare with me okay buddy?" He asked the bull. This is his version of a hail Mary.

Damien got a light brown, but thick as hell, bull with blunted horns. Beep. Beep. RING!

The bull in its rage ran at Itsuki, tackling him to the ground. "AUGHHH!!" Itsuki yelled out, cowering on the ground as the bull stomped away.

Damien went flying into the dirt, managing to roll pretty well and somehow not get super hurt! He came back up from the dirt laughing entirely too hard for someone in a life or death situation, but his laugh cut off when Itsuki got hit, turning straight to concern. Really has his priorities straight, doesn't he?

"Shit. The clown okay?"

"Itsuki! You good?"

"MYYY ORGAAAAAAANSSSS!" Itsuki yelled out. Suddenly, all three of them were zapped away. "Anyway y'all, you somehow tied so.." Rakin mumbled. "Next event! The clowns will not be needed, so I have returned them to their side! Please return to your respective corrals!" @Barry | Taylor + Kevin @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien did so, looking mildly alarmed at Itsuki's yell. Just mildly.

Kevin just raised an eyebrow at the yell. "Well.... that clown Itsy or whatever he said his name was seems well enough to scream his lung out...?"

"Do we have any volunteers to go first for the tie-down event?"

Damien looks so entirely confused at what a tie-down even is. Please don't make this man go first

"....ugh." He just sighs again. "Looks like I'm going first again."

Damien shot Kevin a thankful thumbs up.

TIE DOWN EVENT

first step: pick a horse to ride
I will roll speed for the horse to get to the calf in the middle
you will roll attack (plus any attack modifiers from the horse if it has any)
I will roll defense on the calf
Whoever gets a successful attack on the calf first wins

Three horses appeared in the middle, one black, one white, and one brown. "Kevin, please pick a horse to ride during this event!" Rakin said. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

"Hm... well. Ma said death would be coming on a white horse so might as well pick that one for shits and giggles."

Stats for white horse +2 speed, +2 attack The other two horses zapped away, and the white horse trotted over to the corral with Kevin in it. It was all saddled up, and even had a lasso ready to go, so all Kevin had to do was mount it. @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

Kevin petted it's head for a second. Trying to ease his nerves as the tension was really starting to sink in. Taking a deep breath he mounts the horse. "Let's get this over with."

"Come on! Get em!" He growls. Leaning in as he quickly ties the calf getting it by the neck. His yellow eyes almost glowing with his focus under the brim of his hat.

A perfect tie! It tumbles over and Kevin has an easy time wrapping its legs...

"Beautiful! I ain't never seen it better!" Rakin cheered. "Let's see if Damien can do the same.."

Kevin just lifts the calf up and hoists it onto his shoulder like a bag of flower. Wanting to make sure it didn't try to scramble away. "He getting a different calf or do I need to untie this one?"

Damiens taking this a tad bit more seriously now considering Kevin really looked like he knew what he was doing. He really wasn't sure of his chances here even a little bit, but he's ridden a horse a few times before, so at least he'd have a little fun.

"Damien will be getting a different calf. Do whatever you want with that one..?" Rakin shrugged. "Anyway, Damien, pick the black or brown horse!"

Damien looked between the two. "I'll take the brown one."

"Aight. Imma name it Chai." He just walks off to his side not even bothering to say anything else.

The brown horse appeared in Damien's corral. It was saddled up and had a lasso ready to go. @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪

Damien put one of his feet in a stirrup and hoisted himself up. "You got this, bud." He patted the horses neck.

Bing. Bing. RING! The corral dropped, and the horse sped out toward the new calf... (Speed roll of 10 or higher needed)

Damien, by some miracle, caught the calf. He knew he'd lost anyway since there was no way he'd done that faster than Kevin but he let out a woop anyway.

Damien shook his head no, but said "Yeah I'm ready."

Kevin was busy untieing and petting 'Chai' before remembering they weren't done yet. Lifting his head as his and the calfs similar ears flicked a bit as he looked annoyed. "I'm ready I guess."

Damien did so. His eyes held resignation and determination. He was smiling. Everything is not fine but he's gonna be okay with that.

Kevin points at the calf after petting it's head a couple times. "Stay. I don't want whoever your mama is to be angry you got hurt by a steer." Yes Kevin. As if it could understand anything he was saying.

As the two stood in the center, the lights faded out from the arena. "And now it's time for steer wrestling! We have our wrangler-" A spotlight shone on Damien. "And our steer-" Another light shone on Kevin. "Good luck, y'all!" The lights came back on. STEER WRESTLING EVENT

Damien did have the hang of this one. Wind kicked dust up around the arena as he got a swift, wind-powered punch on Kevin's jaw.

His head jerked back, surprised by the sudden punch as his hair was blown back. Swept fully out of his face for once... yet as he slowly righted himself he had this wide grin. The scar on his brow making his glower look even more tight as a vein started to visibly bulge. "Good. I was gonna be pissed if you held back."

Kevin stomped on the ground, large crystal quickly growing from the ground. With a swift twirl he kicks it with his heel, immediately breaking and sending it flying towards Damien. "You better believe I won't hold back either!!"

Damiens eyes went wide as the crystal flew at him. He managed to turn his body in time to not die, but he got a nasty gash across the side of his torso. Still, he was smiling as he got up. "Shit, man. That'd be pretty cool if it wasn't aimed at me" he told Kevin, keeping most of the shake out of his voice. That's it man cope with humour.

Damien ripped the crystal shard from his shoulder, something wild in his eyes as he stabbed at Kevin, landing it in the other guys shoulder, now even. Not where he'd been aiming, but oh well.

Kevin roars as he grabs at Damien to try and keep him from getting to far as he attacks him back.

Damien used Kevin's destabilization to attack, though this time he only used the dust-filled wind, shooting it at Kevin's face, the dust serving to cut similarly to the crystals from before, some kinda payback at least.

He stumbles a bit again, covering his eyes as the dust and small pebbles and such cut up his face some. Making him grit his teeth as his reddened eyes looked like a pissed bull's. The yellow loudly bright like a warning sign

Damien could feel the pain in his side and shoulder building, realizing it was now or never. The wind stilled to nothing for a brief few seconds, before kicking up harshly in something like a tornado around Damien. He sprinted into a jump at Kevin, yelling as his boot connected with Kevin's skull, blowing Kevin into the side of the arena with a crash. Damien stumbled to his knees as the wind stilled a final time, nothing left in him, fully expecting Kevin to get back up and end Damien like he'd promised, eyes shut.

He slowly got up. His head heavily bleeding as he barely looked like he could stay on his feet. His vision blurring as he tried to see straight. Crystals starting to grow from his wounds and from the blood that splattered on the area around where he was thrown into the wall. "Heh... shit. Ma.... Pa.... I don't think... I'll make it to supper tonight." His eyes started to dim as life left his body.

Damien opened his eyes. "Wh...what?" He looked up to see Kevin, eyes wide. With the fight adrenaline gone, tears sprang to his eyes surprisingly fast. He looked like he was on the verge of hyperventilating. "No. No, no, no I didnt- Kevin-" Damien looked so genuinely horrified.

"Damien wins!" Rakin teleported over to Damien, separating him from Kevin. He shoved the totem in to Damien's hand, and the forcefield shot up around them. "We are done here!" @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪 @Barry | Taylor + Kevin

Damien could hardly process what was happening. He stared down at the totem that had been shoved into his hands, then at the forcefield. Damien started at the forcefield as if he was going to try and leave and go over to Kevin, but his wounds had him disoriented enough that the move didn't have enough direction even if he could break the forcefield.

The forcefield didn't even crack.. Though, the floor did begin to give way. Yard by yard, the dirt fell away in to space and disappeared. The destruction approached Kevin and sent him down, down, down in to the void.. Where he disintegrated in to mere particles. The particles flew up to the forcefield and past it, absorbing in to the totem's orb. The wind side of the totem slowly faded away, being replaced entirely by the crystal side. The horns moved to center themselves on it. And once Kevin was gone, the two of them in the forcefield zapped away.... @sketti | Acxiom 💿 + Damien 🌪
