Connie was...definitely feeling a bit better after Raina healed her, and she watched them with only slightly less wariness.

Despite the distance Connie tried to keep, she was immediately the target of another crystal-related attack.
Connie flinched, badly- her hands flying up to cover her face, to no avail. The crystal shards she had just flung out at Agustin pierced her and she wailed, dropping the totem as she began to bleed.
Oh, wuh oh. She was bleedin' now.

Connie gasped desperately as she tried to yank the bits out with shaking hands, but stopped short as she remembered Auntie's words- yanking out stabby stuff bad don't do bad it hurts bad. Thas'bout it.
She just hugged her chest instead, eyes thin as pinpricks as she wobbled in place. It hurt. It really hurt. It didn't hurt like this when she fought Lady Orrie. She was bleeding now. She hated how it smelled. She wanted to go home.

Raina made his way back over to this group and scanned the crowd.
Every time he came back here, Zahara looked so much worse.. Hopefully she would be knocked out soon enough, and then everyone would have the common sense to leave her alone.
He was going to run back to Connie, but his eye caught another.. Someone who was lying on the ground, clearly in agony. Seems he had failed to notice the boy the first few times.
He ran over to Kian and crouched next to him. His injuries were so severe- and didn't look like anything that Zahara or Agustin could have done..

The skin that had burned away from the poison soon returned with Raina's healing. Kian cringed a bit at the feeling, but felt immense relief when it was gone. There was still some stinging, but perhaps that was more of Kian's trauma about being poisoned than the actual wound.

Connie, trying to wrangle her powers back into working frickin' condition, is just standing off to the side, gasping and wheezing. At least Zahara and Agustin didn't seem t'be targeting her anymore.
Connie inhales an awful, rattly breath of air, gathering Moses' totem from the ground. She didn't really wanna use it any longer, but it seemed helpful if she needed a shield or something. Bloody, scuffed fingers carefully brush off the bits of grass and dirt.
Over there- not too far off, maybe a little further off- Rakin and that guy at the egg-thing.
Movement in the distance catches her eye, amidst all of the chaos. She looks up to where Rakin and the barrier was, eyes narrowed into a squint. Did someone manage to get inside? Were they fighting?
There- on the ground, on the ground, on the ground- kneeling over Rakin, Rakin was on the ground-

Amidst the scuffle, static was steadily building up around Connie. Sovran was alive. Zahara was down. Agustin was still thrashing and doing his thing.
Gritting her teeth, she held her hand up to where Agustin stood and reeled her other arm back akin to pulling a slingshot. Lightning built around the drawn-back arm, crackling with its bright blue hue.

Connie, while absolutely ecstatic she actually managed to land a hit with her own powers, was still pretty ticked off about the whole 'let's-keep-targeting-Connie' thing.
"Why did you keep targeting me!" she yelled at the unconscious Agustin. "Wh- do you have beef with me? I-is it because of Moses?! Give me a fair, fighting chance, you jerk!"
She wasn't gonna kick someone who passed out, so she just stamped her foot on the ground while clutching her totem. (edited)

She knows that's gonna change in a few. For now, the adrenaline is still a pumpin'.
"B-but really, I'm alright," she reassures, shoving her totem back into her pocket. "Mm...maybe you should heal Kian instead?" she offers, pointing a bit at Kian. "He was fighting in...um. In the thing before, and I think he kinda got roughed up a bit worse."
Being knocked down to near-death twice was probably gonna take a toll on that guy.

Connie giggles a bit as Taylor ruffles her hair, watching with silent intrigue as he stitched her back up. She was kinda scared of needles and stuff, but again, the adrenaline was doin' it's stuff. And just by how easily Taylor did it impressed the heck outta her.
"Wao," she breathed, after they finished fixing her up. "Thanks! That really did the trick." All of the stabby places were fixed up now. It was just the aftermath of her lightning that was itching like heck.

Connie carefully took Poppy into her arms, smiling at her. "Heya! We didn't chat much, but hi again!"

He takes something from under his sleeve and it seems to be cotton. He rolls it in his hand and uses it to dab at the stitching to make sure there was no dirt around it after he finished. It would be easy to completely have the feeling of the needle to go un noticed with how easily he did it.
Poppy wrapped her little arms around Connie as best she could. She could tell the girl needed a hug.
"Yes. She says hi as well."

Connie was still lingering at the edge of the group as Raina approached, Poppy carefully settled in her overalls pocket. When she saw them however, her face broke out into a bright grin.
"Thanks!" she chirped, flashing a little peace sign at him. "I'unno where it came from, it just kinda happened!"
Upon seeing the small little shards Raina held, she leaned in a bit closer. However at his words...
"Ww- wait, wait, you can do that?" Connie suddenly, her voice wobbling greatly. "Wait, you can bring Moses back? Y-you can do that?"

Connie was ...immediately a bit wary at the prospect of keeping them safe- keeping everything safe that would bring Moses back. Her, the guy who kept gettin' targeted.
"M .m. I. You can trust me, it's just. Um." She grimaced ever slightly. "I'm...not really sure I can keep them s-safe. All of the pieces, that- that is. I'll try, though, I really, really will."

"I'll! I'll hold onto it. Yeah. I'll just stay...really far back and do ranged stuff and hope no one notices me." That seemed a bit better than having Raina hold onto it.
Connie paused, thinking for a little moment.
"Um...? Um. It...well, I think w-we went missing...a month ago or so?" she started, wincing. "Ehm. Er, but we've only...really been fighting for a day or two, I think."
"F-for me, I got teleported? Just got teleported one day, up into space? And Ra...uh, he just told us w-we were gonna. Die here. To bring the Pilarians back or somethin'. And, uh, th'fights happened, and people lost, and they...died."
She was fiddling with her hair ties, eyes squinted and focused intensely on the ground.
"But...a few hours ago. Alrai Pin...? They're the last Pilarian, I think- 'cause Rakin killed 'm all? First? And, uh, Alrai Pin attacked us. After pretending to be my friend, but they attacked us. And we started planning and stuff, and then we were brought out here to the last fight. So, yeah."

Mallon’s head snaps up at the shout. Rakin is down. Lykos has Rakin. They can get to him.
The shells recede enough for them to move swiftly again, claws digging into the palms of their hands. They stumble blindly towards the sound of Lykos’s voice, shoving through anyone gathered nearby, until they think they’ve gotten close enough. (They actually mostly have, but they’re off to the side slightly.)
“Where is he,” they snarl, missing gaze swinging wildly back and forth in a poor attempt at scanning the area.

Maybe Taylor didn't remember Kian because he looked so different now, but the young man remembered the other when he heard Taylor's voice. Kian had a strained expression on his face as he stared directly at his uncle, who was still unconscious, but forced himself to turn and acknowledge Taylor as he approached.

Kian didn't know how to even begin to describe how he currently felt. He stumbled onto the ground, sitting down with a small grunt as the past hour of events played in his head. There was just.. so much.

Kenji hits the ground fairly hard, tendrils of smoke bursting up from the ground in quick succession before he grabs at them in a burst of panic to reign them back in towards himself. One of his eyes is..twitching? Or maybe flickering. He doesn’t seem all too inclined to defend Rakin at the moment anymore.
On the other hand, Mallon strikes true. They tackle Rakin to the ground, pinning his shoulders in the mud as their claws dig in on either side of his neck. A wordless snarl escapes them, right in Rakin’s face. Anyone is welcome to pull them off, but doesn’t seem like many people are willing to. They certainly don’t seem willing to let go.

Kenji doesn’t really notice. The tendrils he’d tried to grab wrap around his legs and wrists, effectively rooting him in place.
Mallon doesn’t….initially seem to hear Lykos’s request. But it does seem clear, eventually, that they must have heard, as they’re focusing their claws on Rakin’s arms and chest—the same areas that he’d torn their shells out of them, slowly and painfully. They’re shaking, slightly, though whether it’s rage or fear can’t be told.

Through Mallon's thorough investigation of his chest cavity, seems like the compass was at the very least beneath his ribs, so out of the way of their ceaseless tearing.

Evidently, that’s not the sort of response Mallon is looking for. But between the lack of vision on their part and the lack of sound from Rakin, they don’t seem to realize they’re starting to push it.

Lykos tapped a claw on Mallon’s shoulder. “If you continue, there won’t be anything left of him. I want him alive.”

Mallon’s entire body jolts at the abrupt touch. Lykos’s voice is suddenly much closer than before, and they reflexively dig their claws in like a dog about to get their chew toy taken away.
But surprisingly, after a moment or two, they listen—and slowly recoil with the sound of shells scraping against each other. They’re breathing heavily, their movement jerky, and they seem unsteady when they finally stand back up.

Their hackles lower at the apology, but Mallon’s earfins still remain pinned back against their head. They sort of just..stumble back a few steps, though not out of earshot of both Rakin and Lykos. Home soon. Yes. That would be nice.

….After a moment, no one else had approached. Kenji was still stuck to the ground, and no one else was attempting to stop them.
Lykos stood over Rakin, malice emanating from their glare.
“It truly is a shame your master did not last long enough for me to grant it what it so rightly deserved. You will simply have to take its place.”
The doctor leans over him, claws poised and ready to tear him open.
“……For the sake of those here, I will make this quicker. Make no mistake, I do not mean swift. I had wished to keep you alive as I dissected and cataloged your innards- alas. Instead, you shall experience the mercy of my claws tearing out your heart.”

All Rakin could do was listen at this point. Mallon had done too much damage to his throat to allow him anything else.
Slowly and shakily, he reached his hands up to Lykos and grabbed their hand. He pulled it down to his chest.
A strange power could be felt emanating from it, beneath his ribs.

The fascination of a biologist fell away, leaving only a beast’s desire for carnage.
An awful smile crossed Lykos’ face, teeth fully bared in anticipation of tearing Rakin open.
Sharp claws tore through the layers of skin and muscle, wrapping around the upper ribcage. The bones cracking loudly as they’re pulled and bent away from his chest, muscle ripping away with it. The lungs contract weakly, spattered with blood. Hiding behind a torn sternum was their prey- a heart thrumming beneath their claws.
An awful laugh escapes them as their claws tighten around the heart, forcing each beat to become smaller, weaker, until blood began to leech out under their nails.
Finally, the wolf tore out his heart.
….A strange device rested in the cavity. Lykos took it as well. (edited)

The pink and blue compass was about half the size of his chest cavity beneath his ribs, so it was kind of hard to miss......
Just after Lykos had grabbed his heart, and the compass, the glow entirely overtook Rakin's body and forcefully transformed him back to his frog form.
The tiny thing looked like a middle school dissection performed by tweens that had no regard for life of any kind. It's tiny organs were spilling out, and the skin covering its thin and snapped ribs was pulled and ripped in every direction. The human sized heart Lykos had shrunk as well- down to a three chambered heart no bigger than a nickel.. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

The doctor watched with interest as the body and heart morphed back.
Their own heart was beating rapidly from excitement. So often, bloodshed was for nothing but for the sake of survival- this was enacted with pure vengeance. It was exhilarating. All of the feelings of helplessness, of inability to fix anything- alleviated by tearing down the man that brought them to this hell.
They stared at his tiny heart, the blood coating their hands amounting more than the useless heart that once pumped it.
After a moment of consideration, the heart unceremoniously dropped from their hand, and they stepped away from the body.
They turned to the device in their other hand. Coated in blood and viscera, like their own claws. Hm. Probably not the best look.
Lykos moved to a muddy puddle to wash off the blood.

Well, the muddy puddle got the blood off, but now the device was just covered in mud. Only parts of its purple and pink edges could be seen, as well as some of its actual face. The arm was facing a symbol with a little house on it.. @Sauce | Nora🧶+Lykos🐺

".. Yes, actually. There was a device within the egg that has Pilarian writing on it." Raina nodded. He reached in to his pocket and took out a small mechanical device.. It didn't look like any Earthly invention. It pulsed blue every few moments, and there was a bit of warmth radiating from it.
Scrawled all over the thing was Pilarian writing, which looked totally foreign and was complete gibberish to Lykos.

Riki gave Lykos a friendly and firm pat, smiling wide.
"You did it, Lykos, I knew you could do it! You saved us all..." he praised. He chuckled again, and was still trying to wrap his head around everything.
"And we are free? There's a way home?" he muttered, half to himself and half to the doctor. Then he paused. His eyes were slowly getting brighter and sharper, and he blinked, having an odd feeling about the shape of the blurry, dark figure next to him combined with the feel under his paw.
"Are you alright, Lykos? You are not injured, are you?" he asked, his voice a bit stronger now, but still a bit hoarse.

“People are gathering to return home…I need to go speak with Connie.”
Lykos looked back to Riki, their eyes shining. “May we meet again, Riki.”
