Moses jogged, albeit a bit awkwardly, as he spotted Maki in the crowd. They were so small, he couldn't really see them at first. A relieved smile spread on his face when he saw they seemed relatively okay. "Maki!" He called out to them. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

As Moses called out them, Maki whipped their head around. Instantly their face lit up and they ran towards Moses and jumped into his arms. "Dad!" They cried out as they wrapped their arms around him to give him a hug. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses did his best to plant his feet down so he wouldn't fall over when Maki hugged him. He chuckled, tightly returning the hug as he rested Maki's face on his shoulder. Moses squeezed before pulling back a little, looking over Maki with concern. "Are you hurt anywhere, kid? Are you okay?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki hesitated at the question, seeming to think it over. Physical fine. Mentally... They wrote down with a small exasperated sigh. ....I'm. Better now that you're back. I..have the dogtags still. Connie gave them to me.... @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses smiled a bit at Maki's first answer, but it quickly fell at the next. "I'm sorry, kid. I know that must of been really difficult to watch. I'm not going anywhere, anymore. I promise, okay?" He reassured them. "Oh.. my tags. I'm glad you've kept a hold of them. I.. I wanted to make sure you had a memento of me since.. yeah." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

You better not. I don't know what I would do if you did. It probably won't be a good thing though. Maki huffed. They leaned their head against Moses's shoulders for a moment, before they spoke. "....Do you want them back?" @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses rubbed Maki's back as they leaned against him and he softly exhaled. "It's gonna be alright, kiddo. Nothing else is gonna happen," he reassured once again. He paused to think for a moment. "...I'd like one of them back, yes," Moses replied. "I'm sure you've read them already. I'll take the one that isn't mine, but.. I'd like you to have mine." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki slowly nodded their head as they removed one of the dogtags. They placed the dogtag around Moses' neck before they held theirs. ....Who does this tag belong too if you don't mind me asking? They asked. If not now...then maybe later can you tell me. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

(Tw for war violence/mentions of self-harm/death) Once Maki slipped the tag around his neck, Moses immediately fiddled with it, checking it for any new damages. He looked at the tag with a fond, but distant gaze. "It belonged to someone I loved a long time ago. He and I.." Moses sighed. He didn't know if it was appropriate to tell Maki all of this, but he supposed there was no point in hiding it now that Maki had seen the tag. "It's complicated.. as most things are. Do you remember when I told you I was let go because I fought my superior officers in the army?" He asked, his hand tightening around the tag. "William Val.. I thought he was going to be my life partner. We were best friends, dated in high school, then planned to elope once we came back from the army... that never happened though." Moses' gaze traveled elsewhere. "William was obsessed with glory... with becoming someone great. No matter how much I reassured him I already saw him in that way, it was never enough for him. On our last mission.. he and our superior officer went behind my back. William volunteered to be a suicide agent. He'd go in with a pack strapped to him deep into enemy territory and take out most of them to clear a path for the rest of the group." Moses' grip nearly twisted the metal in his hand. "And he succeeded. This was the only thing I could successfully retrieve from what was left. There wasn't much of anything else.." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Maki listened along to Moses speak. They thought about what to say next before they frowned. Obviously there wouldn't be a lot left but they didn't say that. Instead they looked down at the tag they wore.

If you tell me his appearance perhaps o can conjure up an illusion for closure. It might not be the real thing but it can perhaps bring you some comfort as you never got that closure with the real man.

Maki's suggestion wasn't the craziest thing in the world, but it still made Moses' heart twist in pain. He gripped William's tag even tighter and shook his head. "..Thanks, kiddo, but.. I think it's best to leave that stuff where it is. William made his decision. I guess I just wasn't worth as much to him as I thought I did," he said with a small, pained smile. "I'm better than I was then. So, thank you for trying to look out for me, but you don't gotta do anything, kiddo." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Then perhaps let sleeping dogs lie. Maki hummed softly.

You are worth a lot to me. It might be early to consider you dad but...you have showed me a lot of kindness and patience. I do very much appreciate.

They sighed, stretching out slightly. Are we able to go home now...? I would like that. I would like to go home. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses' smile turned warm as he read what Maki wrote. The pain he felt faded and his chest instead squeezed with joy. "And I'm glad I could be the one to show you such things, Maki. I don't mind you calling me dad one bit. In fact, it makes me happy," he chuckled softly. He then glanced around, noticing the others who were now being revived, but also that the few who were talking to Rakin now had what seemed like a compass in their possession. "I believe we will be able to soon. Apparently, the device Rakin used to get all of us is a dimensional time compass. If we use that, we'll be home free. Are.." Moses paused. "..We may be from different worlds, or maybe we're not.. but is there anyone back where you're from that you want to say goodbye to before coming home with me?" @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

No. There is nobody I wish to say goodbye too, really. I...did make brief friends with some but, I do not think its a strong enough friendship to consider worthy of a goodbye. Perhaps a wave but I do not want to make things painful. Does that make sense?

He nodded, giving Maki a small sympathetic smile. "I get it, kid. I just thought I'd ask beforehand," Moses replied. "Can I give you another hug? I've missed ya, kuv lub hnub qub meme," he asked as he opened his arms for Maki again. @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾 Translate: My little star

Maki titled their head slightly, furrowing their brows in an attempt to understand. Then they shrugged it off and hugged Moses once more. You picked me up very effortlessly before. It was very funny. I know I'm short but not that short ;^; @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses chuckled as Maki hugged him and he quickly tightened his hold, picking Maki up again. "I gotcha, kiddo. It's good to be back," he mused, squeezing them almost too tightly before letting them go and ruffling Maki's hair. Moses laughed and gently patted Maki's back. "You and me both kiddo. Don't worry. There's an extra bed for ya that's nice and warm," he smiled. He gazed fondly at Maki for a moment before turning to look at their surroundings once again. "It's almost over... We'll be home soon." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Finally. Maki sighed. I think some therapy will do us well. They laughed slightly. And explaining to your son what happened. That going to be quite the trip. Hm. @Aj | Kian+Moses+Bridge

Moses softly chuckled. "Oh, my therapist will definitely be getting a new storm of stories. I think she's getting a little tired of it," he joked. "I'll make sure to get someone to help ya too, kid. Not just with this, but for.. yeah," Moses faintly smiled as he turned back to Maki. "Apparently, Agustin already called my son after my fight. From the sounds of it, my son is more angry than sad about what happened. I'm more excited to introduce you two to one another." @Cap! | Maki🧿 + Andre🌾

Thank you. That honestly sounds great. Mmm..therapy. Truth be told it's been a struggle for me but after all of this. I think I need it. ._.

Interesting....I've never had the chance for a phone call. I wouldn't know who to call if I did. But alas....well. I'm excited to meet your son. A new...friend..and sibling. It sounds nice.

Moses couldn't help but chuckle again. "Yeah.. in all truth, I think most if not all people should go to therapy. It's nice to have someone to listen to you without judgement and then give you advice back," he smiled. "And yes. I think Viktor would like meeting you.
